~Chapter 53~
Mae was trying to catch her breath as she sat in the sand along the lake shore. Baas shimmered as the waterdrops, streaking down his body, caught the light of the setting suns.
"I can't believe they haven't worn themselves out yet," Mae said, referring to their mounts, as Baas sat down next to her panting, while she tried to ignore his physique.
"Endless fonts of energy," he replied while ringing out the length of his hair.
"Want me to dry you off?"
"Nah, wait for our boys to come in. No point in making you cast twice."
"How long do we have before we need to head back?"
"A couple of hours. But keep in mind, it's not safe to stay here after the twilight sets in."
"Let me guess, something here will try to kill us?" she questioned as he laid down and stretched out.
"You are correct. The clumps we pulled the leaves from will open up once the suns go down and the temperature drops and we don't want to be here when they do."
