~Chapter 38~
Mae and Baas spoke little as he disassembled the gryphandox's body, and she gathered every feather she could find in the vicinity. Even if they didn't manage to get the old Crone to sign their work order, the sale of the beast's plumage would easily make up for it, earning them a nice payout once they were back in Vaughn. And while the meat wasn't considered edible by most, given its acidic flavor, Hidai found it to be quite the delicacy.
"We'll stop at the river on the way down so you can get better cleaned up," Baas told her while packing the last of the meat away.
"I'd appreciate it. Should we use Mohee to get those two down the mountain?" she asked referring to Ulnef and Cota'gin's remains.
"For Ulnef, certainly. As for Cota'gin, I think it's best if we leave him here. It's better if the village believes he died to the gryphandox, and we don't give them any reason to doubt that."
