~Chapter 104~
Mae stood, amidst the rolling fog, the nightscape stretched out around her, adjusting the veil to the length she thought most flattering. She still wasn't certain about the conversation she'd just had with Nimaro or why now, of all times, they'd had it. It had been nearly eight weeks since the Shepard Hunt; six since they discussed her going with Ven and Kyurn to Ix for the festival. He'd had plenty of opportunity to speak up about how he felt about her leaving, and now instead of sleeping, not that it was likely to have happened, she was in the nightscape, hoping that Nimaro would appear.
Even as it had only been seconds since she'd stepped through her portal, she wondered what was taking him so long. She wondered if he was nervous or simply hesitant or trying to teach her a lesson about 'running' off. She knew he was afraid and thought that touching her would cause her injury, but couldn't fathom what harm could come from being in his presence alone.
