Chereads / LEGENDARY ORC CRAFTSMAN / Chapter 6 - New Chieftain

Chapter 6 - New Chieftain

"Chief, the number of Scale Lizard is too much... We're going to get overwhelmed soon!" a human hunter said after using the sword crafted by Cullen Azog to behead the monster.

The monster that got beheaded soon turned into a sack of flesh without any internal organs at all. In fact, this reptile does not even have a breathing or digestion tract. But surprisingly, they're not entirely useless.

Because of the lack of other organs, the workload required to process them into edible meat was cut short considerably. This makes the meat processed from these lizards easier to be stored and dried into jerky.

In a way, they can be treated as a staple food resource as long the village did not get overwhelmed by them.

"What kind of abomination are they? To have so many of them coming out from the water without an explanation!" a few villagers step forward and destroyed the Scale Lizard by employing a three against one technique.

Although helpful, their efficiency is considerably slower because it took three manpower to handle a single abomination.

"Ah! Help me!" suddenly, one of the villagers had his leg caught by one of the multiple Scale Lizards around them. And before the others could even react, he was already dragged into the water to be devoured.

"No! Help me! Help me!" the villager struggled. The sword left on the ground quickly found itself a new owner as another villager took the weapon up to be made into his.

"I can fight now! This sword is now mine!" the other villager yelled and continue with the fight.

"Move forward! Keep them where they are!" said a villager. From his much more built stature, he's likely the leader of the village's guards.

"Village Chief... Are we going to get the orc to help us?" a few villagers without the power to battle against these abominations asked. A hint of hopelessness is clouding their mentality as they're worried about their own safety.

"The orcs... What can we get from them except getting Cullen Azog to make our weapons? Furthermore, we have to be worried about them too because of what happened to one of their orc warriors." said the Village Chief.

From his tone, the Village Chief is still blaming the other three for not clarifying this matter earlier before it created some misunderstanding.

"But we're not the one that attacked him! It's the Scale Lizard that's capable of firing bone spikes! Even the Black Boar was injured by the mutated monster!" the villager said. Out of the three humans that followed Hargath into the Forest of Wailing, one of them was his relative.

"It's pointless... It's pointless... Will the orcs believe us if we tell them something like this?" the Village Chief shook his head. If the orcs are willing to listen, will he be having all this headache right now?

"But... Village Chief! If our village was destroyed by this Scale Lizard infestation, theirs is going to be next!" the villager continued.

"Let us get rid of what we're facing right now... About the orcs, we'll talk later." the Village Chief monitored their surrounding...

Although they successfully barricade the area nearby the water with wooden stakes, it was not enough for them to stop the Scale Lizard from crossing their defensive line.

"Cullen Azog is a magister!" the older orcs with more knowledge about the orc and their social hierarchy shouts as they quickly make a distance between themselves and Cullen Azog. In their mentality, a magister's firepower is even higher than an Orc Squad Captain with a Flak Cannon in their hand.

Furthermore, there's not even a single piece of technology here and orcs capable of fighting against a magister. If Cullen Azog wishes to decimate all of them, it would only take him some effort to make sure all of them were incinerated on the spot.

The display of strength made the other younger orc speechless. In the current hierarchy, the craftsmen are undoubtedly the lowest amongst them. It was then followed by the warrior, Sharpshooter, who is equal in terms of social standing.

Out of the fifty orcs here, there's only an elder. But even he was a mere elder evolved from an orc Tanker, a mutated standing somewhat above the warrior, but below a squad captain.

"Im - Impossible. If Cullen Azog is not a craftsman, he can't craft weapon!" one of the two senile warrior elders said.

"He must hide some secret behind him. Catch him! We will interrogate him!" another senior elder added. But to his surprise, not a single orc, be it young or old, followed their order.

That's because, in the mentality of the orc culture, strength was everything. As long an orc with the strength above themselves appeared, all the other orcs will willingly be subservient to them.

"Cullen Azog will be our leader from today."

"Cullen Azog will be our leader, not the veteran warrior." said the orcs gathered outside of Cullen Azog's house. Even Tarzul can't withstand the influence produced by Cullen Azog's sudden improvement in his social standing and kneeled unconsciously.

"All of you! You're blinded by his black magic! Remember, he's just a lowly Orc Craftsman!" the two senile veteran orc warriors tried to voice out in the hope they could still change the mindset of the others.

But unfortunately for them, the influence from a veteran orc warrior is too insignificant when it was taken to compare with an orc magister. It was like comparing the position of an appointed lord against a veteran knight in honor.

"You! All of you will regret this sooner or later!" the two senile orc warriors left without looking back. Although they did not leave the orc village out of anger, it makes no difference for staying either. When the time arrived, they'll be kicked out eventually if there's no longer contribution is expected from them.

"From today onwards, Cullen Azog will be our chieftain. Everyone, do you agree?" an Orc Elder asked. In terms of seniority, he would be counted as the oldest orc here with a life of over thirty years.

(Note: Orcs grow up three times faster than humans. This means this elder is above 90 years old. To an orc, that's living too long. This is why a craftsman orc, like Cullen Azog, is despised because he's practically an undying labor worker)

"Agree!"

"Agree!"

"Agree!"
