"Hey, Julie!"
"Oh, hey Max."
A cute girl approached me as I called out to her.
She is not a stranger though, she is my childhood friend and crush, Julie.
We are in our last few days of high school together.
Julie and I have been friends for fourteen years and I caught feelings for her about five years ago.
Today is the day I confess my feelings. I called out to her during lunchtime.
"Whatcha need?"
She leaned over my shoulder and looked at me. Her brown hair flows so significantly well in the air, I can't get enough of her eyes or smile. She is just so beautiful...
She is almost too perfect, all the boys are always over her and asking her out, but my connection with her is a straight line to dating, Right?
"I would like to meet after school if that isn't a big deal."
"No problem Max, I don't have anything to do anyways."
"Then I'll see you later!"
She smiled then walked away, I looked over at my friend and he had a jealous look on his face.
"How could you, the plainest boy in the school, be friends with her?"
"Thanks for calling me ugly but it's not like you're any better looking."
I wear the school uniform we were given so my fashion isn't really shown, it's not like I even have fashion though.
My hair is short and black so that's also a thing, I guess?
"You gonna ask her out or something?"
"Yep, and I have a good feeling that it's gonna work out for me!"
I gave a cocky smile and instantly realized I looked like a douche.
"Yea yea tell yourself that to make yourself sleep better at night, don't come crying to me when she rejects your a**"
"Hmph, I'll show you!"
The lunch bell rang so we cleaned up and headed to class.
I am excited about the answer, at the same time very scared.
What if she rejects me, no she won't, I know she won't!
Before I knew it all my classes were over and it was time.
I ran to where Julie and I usually meet and I waved to her.
"What did you need Max?"
"Well let's go for a walk first…"
I got nervous and quickly thought of something, we walked a bit and I decided to get her a snack from the market by our school.
We sat down on a nearby bench and I looked at her, she looked back at me with a confused look.
This is my moment! I got this!
"Hey Julie, I was wondering if you wanted to maybe go out? I have had feelings for you for about five years and I realize that I really want to be with you…"
"What? Hah, your jokes are so funny sometimes Max."
She giggled and then realized I was serious.
"You are serious aren't you…"
She looked down as if she was thinking about my words so I spoke up again.
"Yes, very."
"Then if that's the case, I am going to have to reject you, I do not feel that way for you, sorry."
She got up and walked away.
She was kidding, right?
Was that some special way of getting a girlfriend that I didn't know about, no she definitely rejected me.
I felt tears rolling down my cheeks.
So that's how it feels to be heartbroken.
I am just gonna go home…
I sat up from the bench and walkes home, The moment I got home I laid in my bed and cried myself to sleep.
"What's wrong bud?"
I heard my Mother's voice come from the doorway.
"I asked out Julie and she rejected me…"
I heard her giggle a bit and walk up to me to sit down.
"Well that's fine just find someone else, I mean you still are youn-"
"Did you really just laugh at me?"
"Well, it's because it was obvious Julie only saw you as a friend."
So no one cares for my feelings, I see how it is…
"Well as I was sayi-"
"No. I am going for a walk…"
I got up from my bed and went downstairs, heading out the door.
I guess I should just go to my friend's house tonight, it couldn't be all that bad there.
I look up and see Julie walking across the street.
She saw me and waved,
"Oh hey, Ma-"
"Watch Out!"
I quickly bolted into action as a car came at her, the driver is obviously not paying attention or is very drunk.
I pushed her out of the way then my vision went dark, before it did I felt a hard slam come at me from my side as if something rammed into me.
I heard sirens and my vision came back for a second.
It looked like I was in an ambulance and Julie was holding my hand, she had tears running down her cheek.
my vision blanked again out for what seemed like a second then came back to what a room that looked similar to a hospital room.
"Will he be ok?"
I hear Julie's voice call out, what is happening?
I hear a loud beep as if someone was flat-lining, my body goes cold and I see the darkness again.
This time I open my eyes and see a green-haired girl in a dress, the dress is white and her hair is long and straight.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Death!"
"Why do you look so, how do I put this. flashy?"
"Because, it's to comfort people who die, anyways you're dead."
"What…?"
I give her a blank stare and she just smiles as if nothing happened.
"What happened to Julie?"
"Besides the fact that she's depressed and feels like it's her fault, nothing really. Anyways you have three options of where to go now."
This girl really doesn't care that I died…
"Ok, what are those options?"
"Well you get a special option since you sacrificed your life, you can go to a new world, but you would reincarnated into it. Your other options are heaven, with your memories. Or reincarnated into what you call earth without your memories."
"Well, what kind of new world is that first option."
"A new world, duh. Anyways I have a special ability I can give you if you go to that new world."
Wait, so I can be like those main characters in the novels I read? Hell yeah!
"I go for the first option."
"No hesitation? Ok then have fun!"
As I awakened, I was in a baby's body.
I planned on making this run at life slightly better than my last, you know, become the powerful hero, have girls falling for you left and right.
I mean I will definitely miss Julie and my friends, my family, and my almost adulthood.
But sometimes you can't have all of it, but I will make sure to die happy this go around…
