Chapter 41 - LGfM 41 The child's fairy tale

"Of the many participants in the competition, why should you?" complained Lyon without looking at Steven.

"That's right. How is that possible? But I have to thank the time that finally brought us both to the right time and place. Aren't you curious?" Steven replied, speaking still with a distinctive smile.

"I don't know. I don't care. After all, you are too loud to me for a man. Or maybe all the would-be historians like you? I think it's impossible." Lyon commented sarcastically. Ignoring Steven's eyes and staring at the window.

"Am I that bad where you are, Lyon? I meant to thank your father for supporting my father's university research," said Steven trying to lower his voice to make it sound more like a whisper.

"You're in the wrong place if that's your goal. I had absolutely nothing to do with her generosity," argued Lyon did not accept when he was linked with his father, parents he did not like.

"Really? Even though as thanks I wanted to give you something." Steven sighed in a voice of artificial disappointment.

"I see. If I forbid you will still do it right? So what is it ..." Lyon interrupted impatiently.

As much as possible Lyon wants to end the useless conversation between him and Steven. That young man, Petra senior from Social class seemed to have a disorder that was difficult to define. Steven's pleasure is to annoy Lyon. It happened years ago even when they first met at a fundraising ceremony at Steven's father's university in Haraikan.

"Lyon, do you know about element controllers?" asked Steven so seriously.

"Sleeping tales for young children? My babysitter always told us that story when we were going to bed, first." sighed Lyon holding his annoyance.

What cunning plan is Steven going to do with him this time? Lyon had to scratch his left temple which did not itch.

"Are you sure it's just a child's fairy tale?" Steven insisted, dissatisfied with Lyon's casual answer.

"Of course. Cheap fairy tales that make little kids dream of becoming warriors. What the most gruesome practice of brainwashing." said Lyon.

Lyon, as if reminiscing about his childhood that he and Lisa spent just waiting for the continuation of the story about the controlling element legend. Lyon indeed felt ridiculous about himself as a child.

"If that's your thinking about the legend isn't that much different from the current you? Making online games as an escape for the dissatisfaction you feel?" argued Steven in a tone full of dramatization of emphasis.

"Do you think so?" said Lyon in return.

Never once would Lyon have suspected that Steven dared to tell him this directly. That is not true. At least not 100% correct, just a little of what Steven just said. Indeed, Lyon is eager to escape from the responsibility that has burdened him since he was a child. However, what Lyon is working on now is not a sign of reality nonsense. And, Lyon hates Steven's use of the parable.

"Do you want to insult me? "Lyon investigated sarcastically.

"Of course not. I'm sorry if I offended you. What I meant was ... what if those elemental controllers existed and the possibility that they were around us right now. Aren't you curious?" Steven said provoking Lyon who managed to avert his eyes from the window then looked at Steven with a look full of question marks.

"Maybe. But, isn't there a barrier that locks their strength forever," said Lyon dryly.

For a moment, within seconds Lyon glared at Steven, causing silence between the two. Then Lyon again turned his face towards the window as if he was embarrassed by Steven who was too talkative.

"You believe that it will be forever? What if the protectors fail to lock up their power forever? Or suddenly a paradoxical accident occurs or something that shouldn't have come out of anywhere and triggers the revival of their sealed powers? What will you do? do, Lyon? Isn't that the same as keeping a ticking time bomb? " Steven hissed, getting closer to Lyon's ear when he said this.

Amused and uncomfortable, Lyon pushed Steven away with a look of disgust in the eyes of the young man who was usually cold and uncaring. However, hearing Steven's words made Lyon also hooked. For a moment Lyon thought about analyzing the possibility that Steven was lying to him or in the mood to provoke a fight before the golf tournament started in a few minutes.

"What do you mean by saying that? We don't even know who the element controllers are whose identities are kept secret by the State of Mestonia!" Lyon replied, sizzling too. Glowering at Steven, who was smiling sarcastically.

"Are you sure you don't know any of them? It could be that he is at our beloved Metropol High School." laughed Steven who suddenly laughed out loud.

Steven left Lyon who was still sitting in the car with a million questions that were now filling his head. It must be admitted, this time and for the umpteenth time, Steven managed to perform himself again. However, it is not impossible that what Steven said is the fact.

...

Petra and three classmates went to visit other beaches along the bay of Lilibel where one of them was Fatamorgana beach. They both bike three kilometers to the beach location Hime was referring to.

Passing the paved walk that was still slightly wet from the last night's dew, Petra could hear the singing of seabirds flying over the mangrove trees not far from the roadside. The morning air, which was still cool, entered their lungs. The girls sang cheerfully, even the slightly tomboyish Rita whistled as if she was replying to the song of the seabirds.

"Welcome to Apion Beach." greeted Hime.

The bicycle they were riding on had arrived at the entrance gate of Apion beach. The three-meter high gate with red metallic paint welcomed them. Because it was still early in the morning, not many tourists came to the beach. They prefer to watch golf tournaments rather than spend time at the white sand orphanage.

The entire coast on Lilibel is white sand. But there is something special about Apion beach, namely the white sand that turns red, making the color of the sand look pink like Himalayan salt. Teresa squealed with joy to see her favorite color decorating Apion's shoreline because of the sand.

"The sand is so beautiful here. Hey, Hime, why don't your family just build an inn here? If you know the sand is this beautiful, you should have invited us here from yesterday." exclaimed Teresa, whose two hands were playing with the sand. Making sandcastles.
