"Pyro element, power level 3" the man on the side announced before typing something on his computer and giving Kirt a white badge.
The badge had the pyro element symbol along with his power level occupying a portion of the entire surface, leaving one wondering if whether there were additional information missing.
'No Troo?' he frowned at the fact that his type of element wasn't displayed.
Still, he didn't question the man and went away. After he had reached a coffee shop, Kirt once again looked at his badge. A normal rectangular white badge that had the pyro element symbol on the upper side and the number 3 on the lower.
Usually, there would also be an indication of the elemental type; if the person had any, besides these two of course.
His elemental type was Troo, the offensive fire.
'Have my pyro ability lost the qualities of Troo fire, becoming normal?'
These kinds of changes weren't uncommon for people during the conversion stage; especially when the ability has increased a massive boost in power.
Due to the increase, the elemental type's qualities could become lesser or even not increase, resulting in machines to not recognize it as the elemental type because of the ratio of elemental type elements and normal elements.
For example, if a person had a 60% of the Troo type elemental, and if he had an increase of 3x, the ratio of the Troo type elemental and normal elemental could become 1:4; making the Troo elemental 20% of the total elemental quality.
Of course, it was only on the case that the boost one experienced didn't concern the elemental type and only the normal element.
Usually, the elemental type would also accordingly increase along with the person, although it may not be as much compared to the normal element boost.
Although his boost couldn't be said to be massive, he was definitely suspicious that something like that had happened, resulting in the machine not recognizing his elemental type.
'... I'll try shooting a fireball at a training center. Fortunately, even though my ability's offensive quality may have decreased, I should've had an increase in control. After all, normal pyro is much easier to control than Troo'
Thinking that, Kirt took a sip from the coffee.
"Bitter"
...
'As I thought... It had become normal fire' with a deep gaze, Kirt put down his hands.
'Fortunately,' Kirt looked at the clear number '3' shown on his watch.
He was currently in the training center, one of the specialized rooms.
Trying out his ability, he knew what had changed for it.
His ability's offensive quality may have changed but his control over it had increased tremendously; not to mention he didn't suffer any setbacks in power either.
After all, his power level still increased; just that the aggressive, and offensive quality of his fire had changed to become calmer just like normal fire. It could even be said to be steadier and more flexible, part of it because of the change in quality and most of it because of his soul.
With his higher soul strength, he was able to control his physical body even better, resulting in an increase in his esper ability as well.
He wondered, what will happen if he had a soul strength of 1.5, 1.7, or even 2 ?
Raw soul power may not be much but if he were to advance in seals as well...
The future was bright, Kirt could at least confirm that.
...
"It's still not enough, I would need another week at least, and three months at most..." looking at the seal in front of him, Kirt made a judgement.
By the time he makes this seal, he really might just have already learned another seal from the level up.
Wednesday at 9 AM.
After showing his identification proof, Kirt entered the building where the first step of the test was held.
There were two types of tests, the test concerning the studies of a person and the test concerning the ability of a person. Since he was going the ability pathway, he was taking the test for ability instead of just studies. Of course, he will also take the latter because good schools will require that and taking it would boost his chance of entering one.
As for the first step of this test, it should be relatively simple for him; the control test. The students will likely be tested of their control over their abilities and since he had a normal type of element, along with his soul, he had nothing to worry about.
He can even try getting a top score, although, just barely.
However, he won't do that. He might be good at 'control', but he wasn't good at power.
Asking for big attention at that stage might even be beneficial to him if he were to be roped in by one of the big shots. However, firstly, there was no guarantee they won't do anything to him.
He was just a normal descendant, nothing to compare to those rich young mistresses and masters, although, there weren't many of those young masters and misses who were 14-year-old currently.
He was dealing with big shots this time, if he were to fuck up once, his life would be devastated while they wouldn't even care about him.
Secondly, he had a secret on him. He doesn't want to be known by other people that he had this secret, as there could always be greedy people. Also, he didn't believe the people of this world didn't know the notion of soul.
They might even have secret techniques to strengthen and utilize it.
Because of how much the system put attention on the soul, it might be bounded to him by his soul. Meaning that, if he were to be detected by others who had ways to influence his soul, he could have several endings... and all of them would turn out to be bad ones.
Therefore, Kirt had decided against showing his skills.
He was prioritizing the long-term gains over the short-term one. He had long grown resistant to his impulses after all.
'It will definitely come' Plans never fail, and Kirt was planning to scheme and plan his way to the top.
