Rearing its head back, the Parasitic Yelospike opens its maw and screeches into the air, its yellow spikes swaying on its back. The screech echos throughout the room, causing Sydra and Jason to cover their ears as they back away.
"Can we even fight that thing?" Jason yells, "We can't even use our powers right now!"
"I don't think we have a choice! The only way out of here is blocked off by its tail," Sydra shouts back. When the worm had rared its head back, Sydra had caught sight of another stone archway hidden behind it, but the worm's tail was directly in their way of it.
"Can you use your aura to enhance your body? Like increasing your speed by channeling your lightning?" Sydra asks, demonstrating by channeling his aura to his legs so he could flash forward.
Before Jason can get a chance to answer, the worm begins to move, whipping its tail through the air with incredible speed. As the tail swings down towards them, Sydra flashes to the side, barely getting out of the way as the tail slams down behind him.
"Jason?!" Sydra calls out, worried that Jason hadn't been able to get out of the way in time. As the tail lifts back up, Sydra sees Jason laying on the ground just on the other side.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Jason says as he picks himself up off the ground, "Also, it looks like I can enhance my body as well,"
Flashing over to Jason, Sydra turns to study the worm, searching for any weaknesses, "Those spikes on its back... do you think we could break them off and use them as weapons?"
Jason glances at the spikes running down the worm's back before looking over at Sydra, "I guess we don't really have a choice, do we?"
The two of them start moving across the floor towards the worm, dodging out of the way of the worm's tail every few seconds. With none of its attacks crushing Sydra or Jason, the worm screeched loudly again and began to move. Slithering across the floor, the worm lunges towards Sydra, who jumps into the air before landing on its back.
"Hurry! Grab one!" Jason shouts as he becomes the new target for the worm. Grabbing onto one of the sharp yellow spikes, Sydra rips it out of the worm's back, causing the worm to screech even louder than before.
The worm stops chasing Jason for a few seconds and looks back at Sydra, its eyes narrowed as it snaps its maw shut in the spot Sydra was just standing. Pulling back, the worm looks down its back and spots Sydra ripping another one of its spikes out, causing the worm to go into a rage.
"I got them!" Sydra yells, jumping off the worm's back with the two spikes in his hands. Catching up to Jason, Sydra tosses him one of the spikes, "I'm going to go attack from the left side, you come from the right!"
Sydra breaks away from Jason and heads to the left side of the worm, wielding the yellow spike in his hands as if it was a sword. Running down the side of the worm, he attempts to cut through the worm's thick skin, but this only leads to infuriating the worm.
Suddenly, the spikes sticking out of the worm's back shine bright enough that the entire room can be seen, and long wires of light shoot out of them, going in all directions. Unsure of what the light wires do, Sydra moves out of the way and allows them to pierce through the floor instead.
As Sydra jumps over several of the wires, he notices that the ground is becoming hard, and the slimy substance that coats the ground is quickly drying up. With each passing second, the lights become brighter, and the floor hardens to the point that it becomes brittle under Sydra's feet.
'It's absorbing the nutrients from the Storm Monarch's body to become stronger,' Sydra thinks, following one of the light wires back to the spike it had shot out of. All of the spikes have become thicker, and Sydra can see more yellow lines running beneath the worm's skin, all heading in the direction of a massive spike sticking out of the worm's head.
"Hey, I don't think this is doing anything!" Jason shouts from the other side of the worm as he continues to strike at its side, "I'm coming to you!"
Jason runs around the worm, which is laying still as it absorbs nutrients from its surroundings, and meets back up with Sydra. The two of them head to the side of the room, jumping through the spaces in the wires as they run.
"Damn it, why did it have to stop right in front of the gateway?" Sydra mutters, glancing back towards the worm as it watches them run, a malicious smile appearing on its face while the horn on its head starts to pulse.
Just as Sydra and Jason reach the side of the room, the worm raises its head into the air, swaying it back and forth as its eyes narrow in Sydra's direction. The worm opened its mouth as wide as it could, and a yellow glow could be seen condensing at the back of its throat.
"Give me your spike and get behind me!" Sydra yells, grabbing the spike out of Jason's hand, "I don't know if this will work, but I might as well try!"
Sydra flipped both of the spikes over and shoved them into the ground, before wiping as much of the sticky negating substance off of them as possible. Once they were both clean, Sydra grabbed onto them and activated his aura in the hopes that he could activate the power of the spikes.
"Whatever you're doing, you better hurry up!" Jason shouts, "I think that worm is almost done preparing its attack!"
Glancing up, Sydra sees that the light at the back of the worm's throat has become bright enough to cause it to become transparent, allowing him to see the bones and veins throughout its upper body. Sydra gritted his teeth and wiped off the spikes again, before taking a hold of them.
'Please work, please work!' Sydra thinks, directing his aura towards the spikes again. This time, however, they start to glow, and the surrounding floor hardens around them.
"Haha, yes!" Sydra shouts, backing away from the spikes, "This should do it!"
"Do what?" Jason asks as his eyes darting between the massive worm and the tiny spikes, "If we die, I am so making you journey through the afterlife a living hell!"
Cowering behind Sydra, Jason watches as the Parasitic Yelospike releases a beam of intense light directly towards them. The light is so bright that both Sydra and Jason are forced to cover their eyes, otherwise, they would go blind within seconds.
'Will it work?' Sydra wonders, peeking out from beneath his fingers at the two spikes stuck in the ground in front of him. As the beam hits the spikes the ground beneath them cracks, and Sydra begins to worry that his plan to have the spikes absorb the beam won't work. However, after a few seconds pass the spikes start to become brighter while the beam of light becomes dimmer.
Uncovering his eyes, Sydra watches as the beam of light dies out, and a shocked look appears on the Parasitic Yelospike's face. It seemed surprised that both Sydra and Jason were completely fine, and the reason behind it was because of its own spikes.
"Are we still alive?" Jason asks, peeking out from behind his fingers. Finding himself still alive, Jason pats his body to make sure nothing is missing before jumping into the air, "You see that, you disgusting worm? Not even your best attack can hurt me!"
'It's weak right... I should try to kill it before it recovers its strength,' Sydra thinks, noticing that the Parasitic Yelospike had already fired out more light spikes into parts of the room that had yet to be absorbed. Before it gathers enough strength to attack again, Sydra grabs the two yellow spikes in front of him runs towards it, causing Jason to panic and run after him.
"What are you doing? We should use this time to escape through the archway!" Jason shouts as he glances towards the archway, which is no longer being blocked by the worm.
Ignoring him, Sydra increases his speed to the point where the worm can longer see him. Whipping its head back and forth, the worm searches for Sydra, but it doesn't find him until it is already too late.
"How does it feel having your own life force drained away?" Sydra shouts, hanging from the two yellow spikes that are now pierced far enough through the Parasitic Yelospike's chest that they reach its heart.
As Sydra activates the yellow spikes aura, the worm feels all of its lifeforce being drained from its body faster than it can replenish it. Becoming weak, the worm sways back and forth a few times before falling to the ground, unable to pick itself back up again. As its eyes grow heavy, the Parasitic Yelospike looks at Sydra once more before dying with a peaceful look on its face.
