"Me?" Sydra asks, pointing towards himself, "What do you mean?"
"I'm talking about your lightning!" Prof. Curtis says as he flashes over to Sydra, leaving a trail of blue lightning behind him. "Do you not know what I mean?"
"I'm sorry, I really don't," Sydra says as he backs away slowly, "Maybe you're mistaken?"
"Of course not," Prof. Curtis says as he grabs Sydra's shoulder, "Come with me!"
Before Sydra can refuse, Prof. Curtis flashes back into his office again, dragging Sydra along with him. Behind them, Lucas and Jason look at each other in confusion, neither of them prepared for what just happened.
"Should we follow after them?" Lucas asks, "I mean... Your teacher just ran off with my friend,"
"I... uh... I don't know," Jason says, looking in the direction of Prof. Curtis's office, "It probably wouldn't hurt to take a look, and if we're not supposed to, we'll leave,"
"Okay, that works for me," Lucas says, "Are you coming with us, Kay..."
Lucas trails off as he stares at Kayla, 'Crap, I completely forgot what Sydra said her name was,'
"Katrina...," Kayla says, looking slightly hurt, "You should know my name by now, after all, we've been together since we were children,"
"Right, sorry," Lucas says as his face turns red, "Anyway, are you coming with us?"
"I'll go wherever you go," Kayla says as she smiles sweetly, "Even if it's to the Edge,"
As the two of them continue to talk, Jason leads them over to Prof. Curtis's room, where Sydra is being told all about the history of Divinity Lightning.
"...And that's why I knew you could use Divinity Lightning. Your lightning aura has a high resemblance to those in the Royal Palace, although there are a few differences about yours," Prof. Curtis says as he hands a book about the Royal Lineage to Sydra.
"What are the differences you sensed?" Sydra asks, wondering if they have anything to do with the black lightning.
"Well, I can't say for certain, but it seems like something is limiting your ability to use its full power," Prof. Curtis says, "Would you happen to know what that is?"
"I do," Sydra says, going silent afterward to show that he wasn't comfortable saying more. After a few seconds, Prof. Curtis clears his throat before he resumes speaking.
"The reason I was asking was that I was curious if you would like proper training to use your lightning aura to its fullest capabilities?" Prof. Curtis says as he pulls out a piece of paper and a pen, "My brother is the trainer for the Royals as well as their guards, and I'm sure he would be interested in training you as well,"
An audible gasp can be heard coming from behind Sydra, and when he turns around he sees Jason standing there with his mouth hanging open in shock. Beside him, Lucas looks surprised as well, but his mouth is at least shut.
"Is that a big deal?" Sydra asks, "I also don't know if I have time for any training, as my companions and I have are on a tight schedule,"
Hearing this, Prof. Curtis sighs as he begins putting the paper away, "That's too bad, but I understand. If you have the time in the future, you should come back here. I'll be sure to welcome you, myself,"
"Wait," Jason says as he steps toward Sydra, "Are you aware of the opportunity in front of you? The next time you come, Captain Zeis may not be available to train you personally. Is whatever you're in a hurry to do more important than that?"
"Jason. Enough," Prof. Curtis says to remind Jason of where he is, "Sydra is his own person, and as such, has his own decisions to make,"
"I might be able to change his mind though," Lucas says, glancing at Sydra, "I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to spend a few days here, so you can get at least the basics in,"
"Are you sure?" Sydra asks, "What about your father?"
"I'm sure he will be fine, plus you getting stronger would make our journey back safer," Lucas says, "During your training, Katrina and I can ask around the kingdom, see if anyone has heard anything,"
"In that case, let me write this letter then," Prof. Curtis says, "By the way, Jason, since your group was the one with the largest bolt of lightning at the end of the test earlier, your group will also be taking a week of lessons from my brother,"
"Really! That's great, let me tell the others," Jason says as he races out of the room.
"There goes our guide," Kayla mumbles, watching as Jason bounces around the hallway, "Now how are we supposed to find a place to spend the next week,"
"Oh, do you guys not have a place to sleep?" Prof. Curtis asks as he pauses writing. Opening a draw of the desk, he pulls out a map of the third floor and hands it over to Kayla, "Follow this to the end of the building, the code at the bottom of the map is to open the door there,"
"Thanks, we'll go check it out," Sydra says, peeking at the map in Kayla's hands.
"Okay, I'll send someone to bring you guys some sleeping materials, as well as tell you when dinner is," Prof. Curtis says, waving the three of them out. After they have gone, Prof. Curtis pulls out another piece of paper, "I'm surprised we found another one. The council will want to know about this,"
As Sydra and the others make their way through the building, they feel the people around them watching them, and not all of the stares were kind. Of course, it doesn't help that they look completely out of place in the clothes their wearing.
"Wow, I never felt these kinds of stares before," Lucas says, feeling self-conscious of his still bald head, "It's almost like their pulling apart our deepest secrets,"
"Haha, all they'll find hidden in my heart is my love for you," Kayla says as she attempts to latch onto Lucas's arm.
Reaching the end of the hallway, the group found themselves in front of a wooden door that looked like it hadn't been used in ages. In the center of the door was a runic tablet that acted as a lock, and the code at the bottom of the map had to be inputted into it to unlock it.
"I haven't seen a runic lock in quite a while," Lucas says as Kayla types in the code, "I wonder what the room will look like,"
As the lock clicks open, Kayla opens the door and walks in, Sydra and Lucas right behind her. Although the room was covered in a layer of dust, it gave off a feeling of grandiose. There were five beds in the room, each one separated by several bookshelves filled with books on battle tactics.
"Hey, look up there," Lucas says, pointing towards the wooden, dome ceiling, "You can see the inner rings of the Nest,"
The inner rings of the Nest were the part of the Nest that the palace was built. Instead of being on the ground, the palace was situated above the rest of the kingdom and held in the air by multiple crisscrossing metal beams. The only way to get inside the palace was to either fly up to it, or to take your time walking up a staircase.
"Impressive, the moons should make that a beautiful sight to witness," Sydra says, imagining how the two moons would shine through the metal beams and creating rays of moonlight.
The sound of someone knocking pulls Sydra out of his daydreams, and he makes his way over to the door. Opening it, he is surprised to find Jason and Indra standing on the other side with brooms and mops.
"Hey, we came by to help clean this room up," Jason says as he enters the room, "Cho should be picking up the bed supplies at the moment, so she'll be here soon,"
Once the brooms have been handed out, everyone gets to work on removing the dust and grime from the room. Luckily, Jason and Indra know how to control their powers, and use them to speed up the cleaning process.
With all five of them working together, the room gets cleaned at record time, and everything is done by the time Cho shows up.
"Woah, so this is the Domed Marvel?" Cho says as she hands out the blankets, "I've heard stories about this room from my father, but I never thought I would get to see it myself,"
"Is there something special about this room?" Jason asks, "Other than the amazing sight?"
"Yeah, but I'll have to tell you guys over dinner," Cho says as she pulls out another bag. Inside the bag were several uniforms that matched what the students at the academy were wearing, "Prof. Curtis had these made for you, that way you won't stand out as much at dinner,"
