Chapter 71 - Meeting with Siel

"Hey, weren't we supposed to meet up with Siel today to find out where the Corbel's ship is?" Cidre asks as he picks at the eggs on his plate.

"Hmm, that's right. In that case, let's see if the Sunloft is done yet, and if it is we'll all go out to meet him," Sydra says as he sits down at the table and tries to eat some of the food from Erich's plate. Sadly the food just passes straight through him, and ends up on the chair he is sitting at.

"Gosh Sydra, don't waste the food Marie took so long to make," Robert says as Sydra apologizes and puts the food on the side of a plate.

"Soon ill be able to come here and enjoy this cooking myself," Sydra says as he picks up some other sausage and eggs and puts them on a plate. Sending the plate to his real body, Shdrwa bids farewell, and let's the others kniiw he'll bring them out in an hour.

"Poor guy, has to eat breakfast by himself," Marie says as Sydra leaves the Arbor Sanctum.

After gulping down the delicious breakfast, Sydra heads over to the shipyard to meet up with Colt and David. Upon entering the yard, Sydra is stunned by the beauty of a ship in the harbor. It is a long white gallon, with a stunning prow and beautiful sails.

"Wait, that's my ship," Sydra says as he notices his flag waving in the wind above the crow's nest. Approaching the ship, he is able to tell that the shipyard did an amazing job to it, and it seemed as though they were done.

"How do you like your ship, she certainly is a beauty now," Colt says as he walks up to Sydra and admires the shook with him.

"Certainly is, you guys did a great job. I'm assuming she is seaworthy now?" Sydra asks as, he turns to look at Colt, whose red scraggly beard has become even longer.

"Definitely, you could even easily escape from battle with her, but I don't think your planning on fighting anyone... " Colt fades away as he notices that Sydra is looking away from him, "Are you planning on going into battle with her?"

"I might be, but that is a different day's topic. For now, I plan on taking her out around the island to test her out a bit. Do you mind if I bring her back to this harbor once I'm done?" Sydra asks as he looks out across the water and notices small ripples going back and forth. 'Looks like Siel is already here,'

"That should be fine as we don't have many people who need their boats fixed at the moment," Colt says as he motions toward the half-empty harbor.

"Great, then I will get going," Sydra says as he walks over to his boat and pulls up the anchor. Releasing the others, the group sets up the boat to head out and meet Siel.

'Where did they come from?' Colt wonders as he notices that Robert and the others seemed to have materialized from thin air.

...

"Yup, these sails are much better than the ones from before," Cidre says as he easily raises the sails with Erich.

"I know, and the way the ship is gliding through the water feels divine," Erich says as he ties off his ropes and walks over to the railing. Watching the deck below, Sydra steers the ship out to sea and in the direction of Siel.

"Are you sure it was Siel you saw and not just some other sea creature?" Robert asks as he crosses the deck and looks up at Sydra.

"I'm not completely sure, but I do know I saw something that could have been him. Anyway, we're close enough to the island that if a giant sea monster attacks us they will send help in time," Sydra says as he pulls out his spyglass and looks through the waves with it. "And my guess was correct, it is Siel," Sydra says as he puts the spyglass away.

After traveling a few minutes, Sydra has the group lower the sails and drop the anchor, which allows Siel to climb up onto the ship. Water dripping off his robes, and a piece of seaweed on his head, Siel smiles when he sees everyone. "Ah, you're all in good health I see," Siel says.

"Of course, why wouldn't we be?" Robert asks as he hands Siel a towel to dry himself off with.

"I heard that you guys had a battle with some Glacier Hurricane Eels, and I was a little worried one of you might have been hurt," Siel explains as he dries off his hair and neck with the towel.

"Oh, that makes sense. Were you able to find out anything about Corbel and his ship?" Sydra asks as he leads Siel and the others into the captain's quarters. Shutting the door behind them, Sydra heads behind the desk and pulls out a map of the sea around them. Once the map is on the desk, Sydra opens one of the desk's draws and pulls out several wooden ships.

"Yes, it seems that they found out someone traveled through the gateway because they are headed in that direction. However, they were slowed down by the elven armada, and are currently trying to escape them," Siel says as he moves several of the small ships across the map.

"That's good to know, but is it possible that the elven armada will take out the pirates before we get a chance too?" Sydra asks causing Siel to stop and ponder for a moment.

"I believe the elves are just trying to scare the pirates away at the moment, and don't actually plan on chasing them all the way down," Siel says as he points toward a line that was drawn on the map. "This is the elves trade route, and I doubt they would get too far away from it,"

"Gotcha, that means when we leave here we should be able to find Corbel somewhere along this area," Sydra says as he memories the map. "Thank you for your help, what will you do now?" Sydra asks as Siel sits down on a couch in the room.

Over the next couple of hours, the group talked about their plans, and things they wanted to do. The interesting part was that Siel planned to leave the sea again, and travel the lands in search of rare treasures.

"Well it's getting late, so I should probably get going now," Siel says as he and the others get up to head out.

"Indeed, the festival should be starting soon as well," Sydra says as they follow Siel over to the railing. Hoping up on the railing, Siel bids the group good luck before diving into the rolling waves below and swimming away.

"You think we'll ever see him again?" Cidre asks as the group gets the ship ready to sail back to the harbor.

"We might, but it all depends on fate really," Robert says as he raises the anchor so the ship can start moving again. After guiding the ship back into the harbor, Sydra and the others tie the ship to a dock and head into the town.

"There are so many decorations," Erich says as this group walks by houses covered in ribbons and lights hanging from tassels.

"That's for sure, and it looks like most of the street lamp's lights have been changed out for the meteorites," Robert says as he points up to a lamp that is giving off a cozy glow. In fact, from far away each lamp resembles a small sun lighting the way to the center of the town.

"Do you guys smell that? It seems like delicious meat," Cidre says as he picks up the pace with the others close behind him. Walking into the center, the group is amazed by the number of food stalls and other attractions.

"There is so much to do, what should we do first?" Erich asks as the group passes a stall that has people trying to scoop up fish at it. Glancing around, Sydra sees Captain Smith walking beside a beautiful woman down the middle of the stalls.

"You guys go ahead, I want to go talk to the captain real quick," Sydra says before leaving the group behind to figure out what to do.

"There you are, Sydra. I was just about to have my men go looking for you," Captain Smith says as he sees Sydra making his way over. Smiling happily, Captsain Smith grabs Sydra's hand and gives it a solid shake. "These meteorites that you have given us have helped out a lot. At first, people were worried about the night, but when more and more started coming out, the festival really got underway,"

"That's good to hear, I've noticed that the entire island lights up at night now, and it's quite the sight to behold," Sydra says as he turns to look at the woman beside Captain Smith. 'Crap, I forgot to go and get Marie,' Sydra thinks as tries to think up an excuse to leave.

"Ah, this is my younger sister, Naimo. " Captain Smith says as Naimo reaches out her hand to shake Sydra's.

"It's nice to meet you, but I'm ever so sorry. I forgot to tell my group something, and I have to make this brief. I will be right back though," Sydra says as he shakes the woman's hand before turning around and walking briskly back to the group.
