Chapter 45 - Knocking down Trees

On the other side of the cave, a snail was slowly munching away at a leaf. It was the third leaf of the day for the snail to eat, but he was still hungry. As he began to munch down on the leaf a large gust of wind blew past him, and sent the snail flying through the air.

'What da hell...?!' The snail thought to itself as it watched an Ashgold blur disappear into the distance.

"Hmm, that is odd. I could have sworn I felt a small bit of hostility pointed in my direction, but there is no one around here," Sydra said, as he looked around the open filed he was running through. He had almost reached Sophia's palace, but he was a little bit slower than she had been while traveling there. A few minutes later and Sydra was running around the palace and towards the stairs. As he jumped over a body of a Red Coat, Sydra noticed Dion floating around a pile of bodies.

"What are you doing?" Sydra asked as he came to a stop next to Dion. Dion had seen him running here a while ago, so he wasn't surprised by Sydra's sudden appearance.

"I am collecting the bodies of the Red Coats, and I plan on burning them once I have them all collected. I can't let them lay around the yard, as diseases may fester inside them. What are you doing?" Dion asked, noticing that Sydra had come here alone.

"I am brining the parents of the other children that were experimented on to collect their bodies. They are currently inside my Arbor Sanctum, which is an inter-spatial space. If your wondering where Sophia is, she was paying her respects to someone that she used to know," Sydra explained, before racing around the lawn and picking up the rest of the bodies and placing them on the pile.

"Ah, well thank you for letting me know. By the way, do you happen to have a way to start a fire, I forgot to bring out some matches," Dion said, gazing at the pile of bodies without any remorse. All of the bodies that had been put on the pile belonged to Scorpedes that had imprisoned the Queen, and committed horrible deeds by experimenting on children.

"Well, I can't create big flames, but will this do?" Sydra asked as created a small flame above his hand. After absorbing some of the red crystals earlier, Sydra's ability to manipulate heat had risen a few degrees, and now he could create a small flame.

"Certainly, please light this bush," Dion said as he used his tail to point out some dried bushes that were placed underneath the pile. Bending over, Sydra held his hand next to the bush and manipulated the fire to leave his hand ad ignite the bush. Soon a huge fire erupted and began to turn the Red Coats into ashes.

"Was there anything else you needed my help with?" Sydra asked as he stepped back from the bonfire.

"No, that was all," Dion said, before floating back to the palace. Glancing back at the fire once more, Sydra sighed before running up the stairs and entering the dirt tunnel that led back to the cafeteria. Slowing down to a walk, Sydra excited the cafeteria and looked around at the floating planets.

"Today has been one eventful day..." Sydra said as he walked into the room filled with tubes. After walking past all the tubes, Sydra let the parents back out of his Arbor Sanctum and showed them to their children. After explaining to them that he was heading back to the surface and would be back a few hours later, Sydra left them to grieve over their children.

"I feel bad for them, but there is nothing I can do," Sydra muttered as he walked up the stairs and looked at the planets floating around. When he had entered this place he never expected to find a small settlement that had been cut off from the surface. 'I wonder if any of the other ruins were going to check out will have people still in them,' He thought as he pushed open the door and stepped outside. The sun was close to setting and Sydra could hear birds chirping in the trees. Taking a deep breath, Sydrs pulled out a plasma ax and began to walk in the direction of the area that would be over the settlement.

Activating his lightning aura, Sydra lifted the ax and began racing through the forest, cutting down the trees he passed in one swing. As the trees fell to the ground, Sydra decided to use this time to train his powers to a higher degree. Creating spiders that released webs that were sharper than some of his daggers, Sydra sent them into the trees he had cut down to begin turning them into planks of wood. All the branches that the spiders removed from the base of the tree were put into a pile for Sydra to use as firewood later.

As the spiders were getting to work, Sydra continued to cut down trees while using his bone armor on occasion to protect his body from any falling timber. It took Sydra around an hour to cut down a path that led to the spot where the staircase would come out, and now he had to clear the area around here. Looking around, Sydra decided to practice his lightning blade and pulled out two swords that were forged with plasma. Spinning in a circle with the swords held out from his body, Sydra recreated the lightning shield he had used in the battle earlier on a larger scale. Since he was using swords forged with plasma, the lightning blade he created this time also had a bit of plasma aura within them.

'Zing,' Using his lightning aura, Sydra spun in a circle at an incredible speed before jumping into the trees around him. Running as he spun, Sydra slowly created a large clearing in the area with trees falling down all around him.

"Haha, I bet if I go any faster I could fly," Sydra said as the swords brought down another tree. If one was to look down at Sydra from high above him, they would think an Ashgold spinning top had been released into the forest. Sydra continued to spin for the next few hours before he stopped and looked around.

"Oops... I may have gotten a bit carried away," Sydra said as he glanced around the five-mile clearing he had created. It looked like a tornado had run rampant through this area of the woods as many of the trees were strewn all over the place. "Well, I should probably head back to see how the parents are faring now," he said as he began to head back to the building. Before he left though, Sydra released another thousand spiders and had them begin cutting all the fallen trees up into wooden planks he could use on the staircase, as well as future buildings.

Running back, Sydra noticed that the spiders he had created earlier had made it halfway down the path, and all the wood that had cut up had been neatly laid in stacks to dry out. Walking up to the planks of wood, Sydra manipulated the heat around them to speed up the process. A few minutes later and all the planks of wood were dried out, ready to be used in buildings.

"That's better, I should take these back with me to drop off at Tindow," Sydra said as he placed his hands on the stacks of wood and sent them to his Arbor Sanctum. Once that was all done, Sydra hurried back to the building and raced down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs was one of the fathers from earlier.

"Oh, your back," The man said as he stood up to greet Sydra. The man seemed to be in his early forties, with a receding hairline of curly black hair. He was well built, and it looked like he spent a lot of time lifting heavy material.

"Yeah, I came to pick you all up and bring you back to Tindow. Are the others ready to go?" Sydra asked while looking around for the other parents.

"Actually they already went back on their own, but I stayed behind to let you know. I am the father of the boy who was taken six months ago, and my name is Alan," Alan said, reaching out his hand towards Sydra.

"Oh, it is nice to meet you, my name is Sydra," Sydra said as he shook the mans hand. "Well, are you ready to head back then?"

"Yes, but before we go, do you mind collecting our children's bodies...? We didn't have the will power to carry them all the way back ourselves," Alan said, motioning towards the room where their children still lay, as a tear ran down his face.

"Of course, I can understand that," Sydra said as he headed into the room and sent the bodies into his Arbor Sanctum. Even though the parents had been grieving the loss of their sons, they had not entered the rooms due to the possibility of diseases. When Sydra had sent the bodies into his Arbor Sanctum he had placed them inside a flower bed that had the ability to cleanse the bodiess. Leaving the glass rooms Sydra patted Alan on the shoulder, before they headed back to Tindow. Along the way Alan told Sydra stories about his son, and Sydra listened quietly, only saying a few comforting words here and there.
