Clank! Clank!
The weapons clashed continuously with the tails of the creature. The students could not even scratch it, let alone damage it. Alan stood at a distance with a quizzical expression and observed the battle.
He observed that the creature's pupils moved continuously in all the directions from where students tried to attack it and countered them effectively.
"It reacts so fast to the attacks. It seems it has a faster reaction mechanism than humans," He speculated.
The bald student who had a war-hammer got pushed back when a tail clashed with the war-hammer. "What the hell are these tails made of?" He reacted while he gritted his teeth after pushing his feet firmly on the ground.
"It has ten tails and we are six people in total. If we count one tail per person, it overpowered us by four," Alan thought and observed that a student with a spear first clashed with a tail when he tried to get closer to its body. He dodged two tails while jumping in the air after his spear got knocked out of his hands and clasped both of the tails under his arms.
"Marya, now!" He cried while he struggled to keep himself on the ground. The tails were too strong for him to handle for a long time.
Marya jumped out of nowhere with her sword over her head and its tip facing the front and jumped to get closer to its main body.
"It is trying to maintain a distance from students. Maybe, its weakness lies somewhere in his main body," Alan thought. "Think. What could be its weakness?"
Marya tried to poke her sword into its chest when she jumped at him.
"Aaah!" She screamed while she was in the air.
Clank!
Her sword broke as soon as it hit its iron-like chest…
"Huh?" Her eyes expanded in disbelief and shock when it happened. She could see its arms approaching her from both her sides in slow motion. "How?"
It grabbed her from two of its arms and lifted her above the ground. She struggled to get free from his grasp but failed and winced in pain when it tightened its grip.
"Marya!" The bald boy cried and sprinted towards the monster to save her with his war-hammer raise above his shoulders, but got pushed back when three tails came into his way. "Damn it!" He reacted with an anxious expression on his face.
"Somehow our weapons cannot pierce its skin," Alan thought and observed the rapid movements of its eyes when Gunther and other students jumped at it from all directions.
"These students are still not professional in hand-to-hand combat because of the preference given to the spiritual energy," He thought when he saw them struggling in evading and blocking its attacks properly. Only Marya had polished her techniques after she trained harder than others, but she was in the monster's grasp currently.
When its tails were about to pierce her, suddenly…
*Cough* *Cough* The monster coughed whitish slimy fluid and fell on the knees.
"What did just happen?" Alan wondered with his eyes expanded in surprise. He suddenly remembered when that bald student hit the monster on its chest with the war-hammer and it went immobile for a few seconds. He guessed it worked somehow and damaged the creature internally.
Its tails fell and spread across the ground while its grip loosened on Marya. It placed firmly its other two hands on the ground while it tried to breathe in.
Gunther raised the war-scythe above his head, spun it, and slashed on its neck. It got aggressive after the hit as it didn't damage it much but grazed the side of the neck. It threw Marya aside and whipped Gunther away from one of its arms before placing all of them on the ground and struggled to get up. Gunther flew and hit the ground before he rolled multiple times and hit a tree trunk which injured him.
He held his arm and fainted. It was too much for a boy of around twelve to handle.
"What did just happen?" Marya uttered when she could not understand how this creature got weakened.
"It is time we take advantage of the situation! All of us need to close in and attack the creature on its torso!" Alan shouted. "The hit it received earlier from the war-hammer damaged it from inside!"
He instructed Marya while he held his right hand's wrist, "We have to use blunt and heavy attacks. Sharp objects can't damage it because of the thick substance covering its skin."
"Tch…" Marya clicked her tongue as she didn't want to get instructions from someone who was lower in the ranking than her. But she had no choice.
She threw the broken sword aside and closed her eyes before taking a deep breath. A faint white aura covered her body.
"She has gotten better," Alan thought and smiled.
"I will create an opening!" He said in a loud voice and sprinted towards the monster. The other students looked at each other and headed towards the creature as well after nodding to each other.
Doomster somehow stood up after struggling and cried while facing the sky. A deafening sound filled the entire area and an intense wave ejected along with it. All the students got pushed back because of it.
Alan was still in the air when he shouted, "Marya!" Marya opened her eyes when the faint aura collected around her right arm and pulled her arm to punch when Alan flew towards her.
"What the hell is this?" The bald student reacted when he got pushed back because of the waves.
When the creature stood still after the cry and groaned after moving its pupils on each of the students, someone spoke in a light tone after they heard a swooshing sound—
"Where are you looking at, you damn monster?"
The creature looked down and saw Alan with his arm pulled behind his shoulder. He was about to punch it. "I won't mess up like last time," He thought and remembered about the time when he punched the rock and injured his hand.
"Go, Alan!" Marya shouted. She had pushed Alan when she punched the soles of his feet when the sound waves ended and made him reach the monster like an arrow.
Bam! He punched the creature in its chest with all the strength he had.
Gah! The creature groaned and got pushed back. Alan closed in without wasting time and…
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! He presented a barrage of punches on its chest. All the students looked at him with disbelief in their eyes as his punches were too fast to follow. They could not count how many punches he delivered in such a short span of time.
"Take it!" Alan screamed while he hit the monster with every bit of his strength. Doomster had its eyes rolled back and tongue hanging out while it received the heavy punches on the chest. The waves that were emitting after each hit overwhelmed the environment around as the leaves and plants vibrated with it.
BAM! A loud thunder-like noise echoed in the entire forest before the students stared at Alan from the back, who stood with his head held high looking at the monster that was not in the condition to move.
Marya was speechless while she looked at the dents on the monster's chest. She looked at Alan and thought, "He dealt with the monster without using spiritual energy." She got reminded of when she pushed him to the monster. "He expected the monster would stop them from getting too close to it. When he told me to use blunt attacks, he knowingly held his wrist to tell me to use the punching technique."
The monster dropped to its knees. She continuously stared at Alan's back. "He acted to counter the reaction mechanism of the monster. He used me to move faster than it could react to."
She wanted to figure out how he figured out the reaction speed of the monster and act according to it. "Alan Booney… who are you?"
Alan turned his head and smiled after he looked at Marya. "We have done it," He said.
"Finish it before it regains consciousness!" The bald student said in a loud voice.
The moment he said it, Alan sensed some movement behind his back and heard a low-pitched groan. He turned his head and blurted, "Ah, I messed up."
