Chereads / Vengeance: The Blood Moon Curse / Chapter 7 - The Spar

Chapter 7 - The Spar

The students stood there forming a circle, and the spar was about to happen in the center. Marya was ready to kill everyone after she handed her sword to a student beside her. She stretched with a bitter expression like a demon.

"I don't want to fight her," Gunther whispered into Alan's ears. "Be careful with her. She might break your bones and they would take no action because she is the daughter of the headmaster."

"Oh, is that so? Then…" Alan took a glance at her and smiled. "I would like to spar with her."

"Are you mad? You better accept your defeat in the first fall if you are going to do that. She won't stop until you do it," Gunther said and tried to instruct Alan.

"Why do you fear her so much? Is she that strong?"

"She is definitely stronger than any of us," Gunther answered.

Alan moved forward and entered the ring. Marya glared at him while she stretched out. Alan crossed his arms and just looked at her with a smile which pissed her off.

"You better accept your defeat on your first fall or I won't show mercy on you," She said with a frown.

"Of course, I know this. But before we start, I want to ask you one thing," Alan said and paused for a few seconds to take a better look at the master's face who had a smirk. "Are you going to imagine me as Argus Devonté Albus while fighting?"

"Why do you ask? Do you have a death wish?" She glared at him.

"Can't you have a normal expression on your face? Have you ever smiled?" Alan mentioned when he held his waist from both of his hands. Her frown got denser when she heard it.

"He really has a death wish." The students murmured among themselves.

"He wants to die."

"Hey, stop the chat and start the fight," The master said.

"I would request one thing from you before starting it," Alan said to Marya. "Imagine me as Argus Devonte Albus."

"I will gladly fulfill your death wish," Marya replied and took her stance. She had her feet pointed forward, thighs parallel to the floor, with the buttocks pushed out, and the back arched up to keep the upper body from leaning forward.

Alan smiled and yawned which irritated her more. "It seems I have no choice but to get serious."

"Come to me, I will give you the first chance to hit," Marya said.

"Sure…" Alan walked to her with no guard. He had his body wide open with his hands hanging as it is.

Marya thought of many ways he could attack her, but he just stood in front of her with a smile.

"What happened? Aren't you going to attack? Or are you scared?" She mentioned in a mocking tone, making his smile widen even more. "You should not have opted to fight first if you were this big of a scared cat."

At the moment she said it, she received a punch on the cheek. It was as if something appeared out of nowhere and hit her. She got pushed back after receiving the hit.

"What did just happen?" She uttered with her eyes widened in shock and confusion while holding her cheek.

The other students had all of their eyes expanded in surprise as they could not see clearly what just happened.

"What did just happen? How did she receive a punch on her face?"

The master had clearly seen what happened. "Such fluid movements… We don't teach those movements to our students. Just who is this boy?" He thought.

He saw him bending one of his knees forward, bending his waist and punching through her guard at a lightning speed.

She had not taken a blow to the face for a long time. To think that a mere newcomer had touched her face was making her mad in fury. She could not comprehend his movements completely either. It was making her even furious.

She turned her face and looked at Alan whose stance had not changed at all. "What happened? Why did you lose your balance? I haven't even moved," He said with an annoying smile.

Marya gritted her teeth and jumped to him. Alan pulled himself back in reflex. "Ow, don't get angry. I know the face is most important for a girl…" As he spoke, she swung a kick towards his face. He ducked and jumped back. "I swear I am sorry."

"Sorry would get you nowhere!" She said and jumped at him again. He turned and started running around She chased him around. "Stop running around and face me!" She shouted.

"Who would face a demon like you?" He replied and continued his run. The students all laughed at this.

Someone watched all this from the first floor of the academy building.

"Master, Marya is as skilled as her elder sister."

The headmaster was watching them spar with his attendant. The headmaster was an old man with long white hair, bushy eyebrows, and a long white beard. He wore a white overcoat.

His attendant was also an old man but was bald with hair only at the sides of his head and had no facial hair. His build was smaller than the headmaster.

The helper thought the headmaster must praise his daughter in his mind when watching her chase that boy.

"Who is that boy?" The headmaster asked, his eyes fixated down on Alan.

"Him? Master… He is the boy whom you received the instructions about," The attendant replied.

The headmaster raised his eyebrows and hummed. "Hmm… monitor that boy. He could become an important weapon for us in the future. Give him special attention."

"As you say, master," The attendant uttered and bowed his head in respect.

Marya got more and more pissed as she chased Alan. No matter how fast she ran, she could not get close to him.

"If you don't want to fight, just accept your defeat!" She shouted. Alan suddenly stopped when he heard it.

"Oh, right?" He turned. "I lost. I accept my defeat."

She gritted her teeth and shouted again, "I won't let you get off the hook this easily!"

"She is angry now. Now only God can save him from her," The students murmured.

As she was about to jump at him again…

"Stop, Marya!" They heard a voice. She stopped midway and bowed her head as the person who spoke was none other than her father, the headmaster.

Master Wrath and all the students bowed their heads as well. The headmaster walked to Alan and Marya.

"If someone accepts his defeat, we don't attack them," He mentioned. Marya glared at Alan, sighed, and left after taking her sword.

"What is your name?" He asked Alan.

"Alan Booney, master," Alan answered.

"Alan, I want you to meet me in my chamber after the classes are over."
