Valdemar stared at me and I wondered what he saw. The pondering got ahead of me, "Is there something wrong, Crown Prince?" I questioned.

"Val," he corrected, "And," he paused, cryptically.

I waited for him to answer, but he didn't. He shook his head. His blonde hair almost looked white and his eyes were the spinning image of his mother. Charlotte's son looked just like her and I was startled by the resemblance. How much more similar would Leonidas be? His eyes were just like the Emperor's, a type of blistering hazel gold—"Why were you out here? It's late and you're unaccompanied."
