Chapter 28 - A thing of the past

Days passed after I told Chloe my parents' accident.

I guess nobody knew I was there. They don't know I witnessed my parents get into an accident. I witnessed the car catch on fire, and I witnessed them die.

They just thought they died from an accident.

Sometimes, I wonder if the car didn't go ablaze that night, or if the paramedics had gotten them out before it caught on fire, they'd still be alive.

From time to time, or should I say most of the time, Chloe comes to my house so that she can ride the bus with me.

Today, I asked why she suddenly started riding the bus with me.

She told me she didn't want me to feel lonely.

Only then did I realize truly, I felt alone when coming to school.

My life starts in school and ends at school. Because I'm with people who don't want to physically or sexually hurt me. To them, I'm just their schoolmate.

I forget my harsh reality when I'm away from the house and they come flooding back as soon as I step out of school.
