When they saw their comrade getting killed like that, the Jarls that were gathered in that room couldn't even make a single noise. They couldn't take that something like that was happening.
The Ridires could absorb that situation in a better way, because they needed to be always prepared on the battlefield, fighting directly against the Frelsi. It was still inconceivable that they could invade the Castle, but their constant fight was something even natural for them.
Nonetheless, the Jarls couldn't. They were still trying to understand how something like this could ever happen in their lives. The Castle should be the perfect place for anything. People inside there were privileged. It was impossible that those Frelsis could get enough power, men, and influence to invade such a perfect piece of art made by the own Forger himself, in order to create a totally distinct environment from the outside world.
