Casper was trying to think in a way to counter Freygar's exoskeleton. That thing gave him amazing strength and was even unfair how much of a boost he gained with that. If the Aesir remained like that, the soldier wouldn't be a match for him.
However, it was two times as difficult to keep reasoning with someone sending towards you ferocious powerful combinations. Multi-task is always tough, but in a situation of extreme pressure, it became just unbearable for many.
