Casper, Sionnach, and the Ridire entered like a hurricane inside the complex. Without no enemy to stop them on the outside (since they died in the explosion of pressurized water) they could make it until there.
Sionnach could catch up in no time with Casper. She seemed very tired because of the rush she made to that roof to save as many Ridire warriors as she could.
Casper was truly thankful to her. If she could not do it in time, Casper would have had taken the lives of many of her comrades.
He knew looking at her that she was pissed off because half of them still got wiped out by that explosion, but, as a warrior, Nach was aware that painful sacrifices would be a must on certain occasions in a battle.
Casper was feeling sick for what he did, not just because of the Ridire's lives, but also because of all the citizens and even Frelsi he killed.
Casper still did not know what are their true intentions. He was doing all of that because of selfish necessities. He did not want to let the government fall, because it would be just a problem to him. But he was aware that he could be fighting on the wrong side.
In the end, he was just a selfish soldier trying to survive.
He hoped that Sionnach could forgive him.
"Hey…" She suddenly called, jogging with him.
"What?"
"How did you do that?"
"I knew that the reservatory would not be capable to break the wall completely, and even if it had done it, I doubt that it would keep going forward to let us enter through the whole. I mean, it would surely be stuck in the wall.
"Then I used some of the grenades and explosives to heat the steel and make the water inside the reservatory boil and increase the pressure inside it. Since it was made of steel and had a thick structure, the explosions inside just decreased the durability of the metal, which also contributed facilitating the explosion by pressure."
Sionnach needed to admit that that was the craziest and smarter strategy she had ever seen in her life.
It was amazing.
"You… sure risked it all, right?"
"Yes." He nodded, then looked at her. "If I don't take this type of responsibility, important people will die."
After the little exchange of words, the two shut their mouths and focused on just run towards the Energy tower.
The Ridire troops were tagging along with them. The majority of those warriors seemed to have acknowledged Casper for what he did but also were very cautious about the fact that he did not wear a mask.
Either way, they continued running with him and Sionnach.
The time came when the Frelsi inside the Complex appeared. Casper had predicted that the inside would be guarded as well, so it was no surprise for him. Anyways, he was planning to not have to enter in fights.
"What do I do now? Just a few more meters and we will clash with them…"
Just as he thought about it, a man wearing flashy nordic armor raised his ax. He seemed to be a figure of authority.
"Get ahead, troops! Don't let them touch even a hair of Sionnach and the White warrior!"
The troops gave a spirited roar and rushed forward, letting Casper and Sionnach behind, entering in combat with the Frelsi.
Casper held Nach's hand, to prevent her to get lost on that fuss.
"We are going for it, Nach! We will pass through it and go straight to the tower!"
"Roger!"
Both started to run like crazy, deviating from each person who appeared in front of them, being it enemy or ally.
The Ridire gave their all to open the way to them pushing the enemies to the sides swinging their axes or shooting with the weapons they could steal.
A lot of them ended up dying in that sudden attack, but nobody backed even a step. Everyone kept in high spirits even if their comrades fell to the ground one by one.
"Have strength! Forward!" The flashy warrior said.
The troops gave another war cry in answer, pressing with abnormal courage.
The way was nearly clear to Casper and Nach to run.
Nonetheless, some Frelsi broke through the attack and tried to stop them at any cost.
Without letting go of Casper's hand, Sionnach leaned over and picked up a hatchet on the ground, which one of the warriors might have had dropped. Anyways, she never stopped to run, increasing her speed as long as Casper did.
Her thigh still was in pain, and the wound started to open again, but she brushed it off.
An enemy appeared in front of them.
Casper made mention of stop running, but Nach yelled to him:
"Don't stop! Keep going, Casper!"
He did not wait for a second call, he increased his speed again.
Finally, Nach let go of Casper's hand, rushing forward like a feline and cutting the throat of the opponent with an accurate strike.
A woman appeared and tried to retaliate against her, but Casper bumped into her, sending her flying.
After some more meters of a full-speed sprint, another bunch of enemies made it through the Ridire's aggression.
As fast as ever, Sionnach ripped off the arm of the one who was aiming a pistol towards her. After that, she turned her body slightly, throwing the hatchet and striking another one threatening Casper.
The soldier did not waste time and picked the hatchet from the body, knocking another two, each with a single, clean blow.
Finally, they could feel a bit of joy, they have reached their goal.
The Energy tower was surrounded by a huge electric fence. Fortunately, the gate of the fence was opened and they could enter inside it without problems. They locked the entrance once they get inside there.
"Casper, stop! Stop a bit, please!" Sionnach grabbed him in the shoulders and made him turn to her.
"What you want!? We need to do it as fast as we can, right!?"
"I know! I know! But we can't go up there together. You will need to climb up alone. My comrades will all die for our sake, I know this much, but they will not last long enough. The numbers of citizens and Frelsi are too overwhelming.
"In short, soon or later the enemies will be going here, and it will not be so difficult for them to get inside here. It's not a problem for anyone to break in through that gate.
"Because of it, you will climb up there and activate the tower again. And I will be here holding them as much as possible."
Casper faltered, looking at her in disbelief.
"A-are you crazy!? How will you be able to stop them like this? You will die, Nach!"
She showed to him her left wrist, with a serious look on her face.
"I have prestige enough among the Ridire to be able to have a top-quality device like this. As I said, I am pretty strong, particularly because of it."
Sionnach's eyes were burning with determination.
"If you can manage to climb this tower in time to activate it, I will be able to use my device, and if I can do it… I will wipe them all, trust me."
Casper gritted his teeth, looking to the battle outside that fence and to the top of the huge tower.
"I… I will do it." He clenched his fists. "I don't know how, but I will do it in time."
"Right! Ok. Once you get up there you need to touch the core of the Energy Tower. You will know what it is when you arrive there."
Casper ran towards the Energy tower, stopping midway and looking over his shoulder.
"Don't you dare to die, Sionnach!",
"What are you talking about? Shut up and climb it already before I break your legs." She smiled, even though Casper could not see it.
Casper nodded and started to struggle to climb up the tower.
"Even if I tear all my muscles and break my bones, I will climb it just in time to activate this tower! Wait for me, Nach!" He thought.
Sionnach looked outside the electric fence. Her comrades were still fighting, giving their lives to keep the enemies under control.
Each life that was taken seemed like a ton falling onto her shoulders.
Nach felt incredibly weak at that sight, and worthless. But she knew that if she tried to do something, their efforts would be wasted.
She needed to honor their deaths, fulfilling the mission.
"I hope your souls can rest proudly in Valhalla…" She prayed.
Then, Sionnach started to check the device in her wrist, and modified the software, making it act like a timer.
"I am sure that they will kill all my friends and get here in at least five minutes…" She programmed the software to activate the device automatically in five minutes.
"Sorry for this, Casper. But, if you don't make it in time, I will pay the bill for you…"
Nach just stood there, looking at the Ridire fighting a bloody battle, with the bip of the timer in the background.
Her device would activate even if the tower was not turned on. It did not need that special energy at all. But use other types of energy would cause huge consequences
