Earth, Year 2022-
The world emerges from a period of darkness, millions died as the virus swept across the Earth bringing mankind to its knees. Economical forecasts predicting the ripple effect from this event will pervade decades into the future, everyone lost someone they knew or loved.
Hope was lost in a corner of darkness as humanity grieved as one, but as time prevails, all things must move forward, all must obey the laws of the universe as we know it. At least until now...
From the birth of a single child in St' John's Hospital, London, England, eyes glowing white like the stars in the sky. Reports started to come in from around the globe of children being born with extraordinary powers, the likes of which have only been seen in superhero films and anime.
Babies who can control the wind and call forth lightning. Babies with the strength to lift vehicles. Babies with the ability to feed themselves with telekent...(cough, cough)... well you get the idea anyway.
Safe to say it was a time of great sorrow, bewilderment and downright chaos... I mean babies with the ability to call forth lightning, imagine how the parents are doing that is some messed up sh... {cough cough}... yeah so basically this dawned the new Age, the Age of Hero's, the Age of Villains, the Super Age.
Governments quickly realised that having uneducated children with special abilities running around unchecked and untrained was a terrible idea. Hence, each country founded their own schools for the "gifted", the term used to refer to those with extraordinary abilities, to educate them on morals and give them counselling so they basically didn't turn into narcissistic, crime junkies or villains. Plus, they also taught the gifted how to use their abilities by studying them in controlled padded cel... (cough cough) damn this cough... I mean nice play areas with lots of cool toys and gadgets.
Over the decades society slowly but surely began to adapt to the presence of the gifted especially as the percentage of gifted in the world population seemed to be ever-increasing. Inevitably this change was not bias with the people who were selected and some used their gifts for greed and crime. A great period of darkness began to sweep the earth again until he appeared, the one, a man who banded together those with power and with good attunement to fight against the villains. He fought against the most powerful villains in the world, some who had levelled towns and killed 100,000s were like glass to a diamond, all of them were brought to their knees bringing a semi peace to the world.
Leading by example Governments and companies banded together during this time to create the hero guilds, many guilds started to pop up all around the world as heroes took up their duty and swore an oath to protect the innocent, the weak and to uphold justice. However, without explanation One vanished after this never to be heard from again but in his name, the hero rankings were created the top rank 'One' signifying the ultimate hero, the number one hero, the symbol of justice and the pillar that held society together for the next few hundred years to this current day.
