"Being attacked by other organizations means even they are getting involved. It seems that they fear that the Deviants they see on the news. This has never happened before in the history of mankind." Joe stated as he heard the reports.
"If other organizations are on the move, then the incidents are not simple. Magic users are like the shut ins of the supernatural world. They rarely leave their houses unless it is something important." Sofia stated as she knows that magic users do not move unless it is important.
"You mean, you have encountered people that can use magic in the past? Why are we just finding out about this now?" Dustan asked as this is the first time that he learned of this.
"I am telling you now because it is weird. Deviants committing mass murders while shut ins becoming more active. It seems that we are missing something from the equation that is not known to us." Sofia stated.
"So, you are telling us that people that can blow my head away with a few words are now roaming around? Do we get vacation days because if we do then I want to use mine?" Esma stated in a sarcastic tone but even she fears magic due to what she experienced.
"You do not need to worry about that Esme as magic cannot easily do that feat. The magic of this wo…I mean magic is not that easy to handle. Only a few select people with the brain and perseverance could use it. They cannot blow your head off with a few words because it does not work like that." Jo stated as he began to summarize the magic of this world.
Even Joe did not want to admit it, the magic that the Child of Gaia created is not easy. In other parallel dimensions where magic exists, magic there relies on mana and beings called elemental spirits. In those parallel dimensions, the magic users offer up their mana to use magic but in this world it is different.
The second incarnation of the Child of Gaia used his newly acquired powers to create what is now considered magic in this world. The basis for this world's magic is not entities called elemental spirits but the understanding of the world and the power of the person's will.
The second incarnation basically used his understanding of the flow of life force to create a natural phenomenon which is invoked with an extremely simplified version of the language of the celestials. But even with the two together, magic will not activate unless the caster's willpower wants something to change.
A magic user's willpower is so strong that they come off as unpleasant to other people which is why some become solitary. It is also a fact that even the most talented of the magic users can only start using powerful spells at the age of thirty.
Even the most prodigious magic user that can create a spell perfectly every time is twenty years old. That magic user basically grew up with magic being taught to him, but it still took two decades for him to become perfect.
Their isolation from the world and their old age of mastering perfect spell casting is one of the reasons a famous saying is created. The saying that if you reach the age of thirty being a virgin then you will become a sage. This saying stemmed from the fact that magic users are often called sages as they have better understanding of natural phenomenon.
Joe told them that magic cannot be unnatural and must not disrupt the flow of nature. He told them everything except the things that the Child of Gaia being the one who created it. He also did not tell them what language is used for the casting of spells.
"If that is the case then are curses magic as well?" Whiz asked as he raised his hand.
Joe also asked Adrian about this as curses are not really something natural. When Adrian heard of the word curses, even he almost puked because he knows of the origin of this vile practice. He also told Joe about this when he was asked about magic.
"Curses are not under magic because they fall into the category of being unnatural. Curses is one of the basic spells in Sorcery. Sorcery is not something that is pulled from one's own willpower or nature. It is pulled from something far darker and otherworldly. Do all of you know of the Witch Hunt?" Joe stated.
"Yeah. I mean it has been popularized in the media and talked about by others since is part of history. Did they not just tell us that it was just women unjustly hanged?" Esme replied.
"That is where you are wrong. The one who led the witch hunts are all angels that descended to kill off witches that practiced sorcery. Those were dark times, and some may have been innocent, but witches practiced the evilest of sorcery which made the other Deviants move.
I should know because I was there during that time. I witnessed the witch hunt myself and let me tell you that the ordinary human witch hunters had no chance against a real witch. The horror that their sorcery could inflict on people will easily turn your stomachs." Sofia stated which made everyone gulp.
"You said that they pull the power of sorcery from somewhere. Do you know where this is?" Dustan asked as he wanted to know how to counter someone who uses sorcery if he encounters one.
"That's just it. Even I do not know where they pull their powers from, but I can definitely tell you that it is not somewhere but something." Joe answered.
"Does the power of sorcery not come from the devil? I mean it has been said that witches need to have some sort of covenant with the devil for them to acquire powers, right?" Jihan asked as that is what is taught to him by his family.
"Even the devil is something that is needed by nature. There should always be counterparts to something since there are angels then there should be the devil and demons. Are the kings of hell not needed?
They are needed to serve a balance and to judge the souls of the damned. Sorcery did not come from the devil because if it did then he should have been killed by the angels and not banished to hell like what the story tells us." Adrian stated as he could no longer stay silent.
