There were eight beds in total, arranged a reasonable distance from each other such that each person had enough space in their corner.
They beds were arranged four on each side of the room.
Jake went for the bed which was at the far right of the room just beside Levi's and set his things down, there was a little cupboard assigned to each person and a small table in front of each of the beds.
Jake opened his cupboard and arranged the contents of his bag into the cupboard. He then folded his clothes neatly and put them into the drawer below.
The sword was the last thing to leave his bag, leaving the sword in it's scabbard he gently stood it beside the behind the small cupboard.
"An assembly will be heard in the hall thirty minutes from now, all students including old and new are expected to be present" a voice booked from the speakers above. Jake had not noticed the speakers when he entered.
"You heard that, let's prepare guys" that was Levi, it felt like he had actually been at the school a lot longer than the others.
The girls returned to their room to prepare for the assembly.
There was a black round framed clock on the wall, the time was 7:25 exactly 25 minutes since the information was passed.
They headed out into the night, the night was illuminated by lights shinning from the surrounding buildings making it easier to navigate the school.
After a one minute walk, they could see the hall, just like other buildings it had lights all around outside the building, and also a flower bed in front of the hall.
They walked through the large oak doors of the hall, the hall was dimly illuminated, it was a large hall with lots of chairs. The chairs were arranged in rows, there were rows of chairs to the left, then a walk way, it was the same for the middle and right.
There was a banner at the left labelled Ivy Hostel, at the center was Emerald and at the right was Scarlet.
Levi led the boys as they trailed behind the second years and headed to their seats.
They walked a few rows to the front and occupied a few seats.
After they had all settled down, the Headmaster appeared on the podium.
"Good evening everyone" his deep voice boomed and bounced off the walls as if being amplified by an unknown source. "As we all know, at this school we work to develop magic and also go guide those who will manifest their magic through the process. Classes will commence tomorrow, you must have noticed by now the absence of the third years.
I expect the second years to assist the first years in any possible way until they are accustomed to our rules. The rules will be delivered through the guide book along with your uniforms by dawn.
At the end of each semester, there will be a competition among the three houses in events varying from magic to group battles.
The winning house gets to add another crown to their list of already secured trophies. Our motto remains. 'Only the best sits at the Pinnacle' On that note, have a nice night"
He dismissed them.
"That was quick" Percy commented
"Yeah, I thought it would take longer. Let's head back, it's past dinner time"
Everyone exited the hall and returned to their dorms. They headed straight for the cafeteria, the first years occupied an empty table to the left of the cafeteria while the second years strayed a bit far from where they were stationed.
They soon ate but they stayed back talking, Levi suddenly Drew their attention. "Percy, what can you do"
"Me?" Percy looked puzzled. "Why ask me?"
"Just spill" Levi told him " We're in the same house and soon enough we might have to engage the others, probably it should be during the contest at the end of the semester it could be before"
"Whatever, I can use fire" Percy replied, he opened his palm revealing a ball of fire, he made it grow a little larger then snuffed it out by fisting his palm.
"So we've got an elemental, what of you Lisa"
In response, she summoned a gust of wind picking up all the dishes and cutleries on the table and swirling them in a vortex, she then reduced the intensity and let them drop gently to the table.
Everyone had now turned to look at her twin Kayla since she was the next on the table by arrangement.
"I'm a healer" she managed in a small voice. Levi nodded, he understood the importance of a healer in a team, even though they were usually rare he was happy they had at least one in their group.
"Wow a healer, Rare" Percy commented, Kayla simply blushed in response.
Tony was next, he raised his head, hardly interested in what was going on at the table. But answered either way
"I can use water"
Annabeth simply said she was a spell caster. Levi who was next suddenly started concentrating.
It seemed like he was pouring all his energy and focus into whatever it was he was trying to do, then the lights became brighter, the whole cafeteria was brightly illuminated then the lights started blinking .
Suddenly it all went off "sorry guys, I'm also a spell caster but I don't think I've gotten this whole spell thing under control".
Then someone snapped and the lights came back on. A few looked around the cafeteria, trying to figure out who had restored the lights, it seemed strange since the second years were long gone.
Levi was slightly relieved because were the second still there, he might have been reprimanded they soon forgot about the incident and turned to Jake waiting for his intro. Levi didn't bother since he already knew Jake couldn't use magic
"Ermm" he stuttered inaudibly. Everyone stared at him expectantly. Except Tony who always seemed to be in a world of his own.
I can't really use magic" Jake finally broke the silence.
"What?" Percy leaned in to take a closer look, even Tony raised his head to look at him Annabeth stared at him from the corner of her eyes, everyone got their fair share of the shock.
Levi leaned back in his seat and watched them reel back in shock.
They were at the age where most people unlocked their magic though some of them got to do so quite earlier but it wasn't unheard of that someone had unlocked at a later age but it was quite rare.
"What would you do if there was a situation and we had to fight or defend ourselves" Percy asked Jake
"Fight? Hope we don't though" Lisa grumbled
"Well, I don't know" Jake replied in answer to Percy's question.
"So you've never used magic in anyway whatsoever" Kayla's still wide eyes searched Jake for an answer.
"No I haven't"
"Don't let it get to you, there's still a chance" she assured him.
"Yeah" Jake was somehow relieved they were indifferent about him being without magic.
'They must be a good bunch" he thought
They had all retired to their beds for the night, as Jake lay on his bed facing the ceiling, Percy's words echoed in his mind "What would you do if there was a situation and we had to fight or defend ourselves".
"Will I be able to survive with only the combat I've learnt, without the help of any sort of magic" he asked himself. "I need to be stronger, I must be stronger" he promised himself to train every day until he was sure he could handle himself even in a dangerous situation, those were the thoughts roaming his mind before the embracing arms of sleep came, claiming his consciousness.
