"I'll suck the poison out," said Victoria.
"No, Vic. The poison can kill you."
"No, it won't. I've seen it on television. I just need to suck it with my mouth. Come here."
Victoria pulled Baron's hand and then sucked his hand with her mouth.
"No, Vic. No … please.…"
Baron was surprised to see Victoria persistently sucking the poison in her hand and then spitting it on the ground. She did that many times until the pain in Baron's hand began to lessen.
"Vic, enough."
Victoria gasped as she looked up. Baron could see his lips turning pale. And then, Raymond handed Victoria a water bottle.
"Gargle with this," he ordered.
Victoria complied. She rinsed her mouth with the water and then threw it on the ground. The mongoose howled next to Baron.
Victoria's breath was ragged. Baron was worried if Victoria had swallowed the poison. Victoria looked weak and sat down next to Baron.
