Evan's surroundings had turned into darkness again. His whole body also emitted a dim light again.
In front of the young man, Gaia knelt down and wept bitterly.
"Why are you crying, mother?" Evan smiled widely. "You should be happy that the threat to your children is gone."
"But, we have to lose you, Evan." Gaia had a hard time putting words together. "You are not from me, but you are one of the best. You have done such a great deed."
Evan knelt before the earth goddess. "You have the greater merit. Humans have ruined you, but you still love them. You could have allowed them to be destroyed by Griovante, but you didn't do it and instead did something at risk for yourself. You are a good mother."
Gaia gently stroked Evan's cheek. The goddess of the earth was speechless and only shed tears profusely.
