Aethan ran, well more like scurried across the age cracked sidewalk similar to a cat, with a grace that is often seen by children of the streets. A urban out crop within the the city of Monticello Indiana were the wageless and the minimum wages were what most of the local inhabitants pay consist of. Joyfully shouting Aethan scurries, intertwining and intermingling amongst the other children of the block. Particular paying attention to Sarena, Aethans longest and best friend. They were frolicking back and forth in a game of tag.
Aethan is it and he sets his eyes on Sarena the fastest within the group. "Sarena I'll be the first to ever get you!" Aethans voice rang out carried by the slight gentle wind straight to Sarenas' ear. Sarena quickly spins pokes her tongue out at Aethan and takes off, she knows the perfect hiding spot.
To many onlooker they see the two dash off one chasing the other. Sarena slowing down just enough to let Aethan think he's quick enough to tag her, then jets forward opening and closing the gap similar to a slinky. She does this carrying them multiple blocks, neither noticing the sidewalks worsening condition and the connection of the weeds growing through the numerous cracks the sidewalks laden with. or the buildings falling and torn and often bulldozed houses.
Before Aethan or Sarena realizes they're both within the section of the city known as the Sweenies. Still unbeknownst to Aethan or Sarena the twist and dash throughout the streets, sidewalks, and flickering lamp post even though its broad daylight. Suddenly Sarena shoot off creating a dozen feet between her and Aethan. Aethan rounds the corner and stops he see no sign of Sarena. Looking around is an empty street but of the sidewalk a empty lot with a base dug into the ground about five and half feet deep.
Within the base were erect foam walls, each wall a foot thick the foam only being an inch thick. within each foam wall is concrete still setting as is it were poured and hour or so ago. To Aethan it seemed to be a maze ripe for exploring and and great hiding place for Sarena. Quickly Aethan scrambles down the dirt wall and shoot into the maze. Blitzing left and right Aethan navigates each turn, heart racing and fully anticipation of running into Sarena.
Several minutes go by and Sarena still evades Aethans eyesight. Suddenly a peircing scream erupts out of the foundation which was what the kids took to be a maze. The scream rought with terror. Aethans heart beat faster and hairs stood on end. Shooting off like a star toward that scream it must be Sarena.
Quickly Athean twist and turns and around the last corner Aethan comes across a man cuping Sarenas mouth with his right hand, while binding her hands behind her back with his left. Aethan terrified still rocket forward and like a feral dog chomps on the man's hand cupping her mouth. A small grunt of pain comes from the man and quick like lightening he unleashes a back hand across Aethan face. Aethan head snaps sharply to the side burst of light dance across his face and a little stumble shook his poster.
Aethan manages to still stay on his feet and he goes back in to attack the man send a wide side kick to Aethans hand sending him to the eternal blackness of unconsciousness. Hours past but and the sun has left its departed setting when Aethan arrive to the world full of pain. Crust blood from the knocked out teeth leaving a sharp sense of pain. Along side an ear swollen looking similarly to the tops of cauliflower.
Aethen eyes first sees Sarena across from him unconscious yet seemingly unhurt. a door next to Saren set enladend into the wall. Another door stand in the wall to the right of Aethan. This one burst open and a man with a bandage wrapped around his hand stomps through immediately snapping his attention to Aethan. His eyes darken and glisten at the same time. Bright white teeth reveal themselves as the man smiled brightly at Aethan.
Aethan s eyes fill woth with fair yet the man did not go to Aethan. No he went straight to Sarena, swinging his his back he shoots it forward creating a clean crisp sound. Sarena's eyes open and tears begin to stream down her face, to scared to scream at the pain the man inflicted. "So this girly here must be the one you face ehh?" the man looks back at Aethan and reaches forward clasping Sarenas neck sneezes and lifts her up and of the floor .
Aethen heart race heat rises to his face anger, rage, hatred , infuriating rush of blood which completely drains out any rational thoughts. Only one word could make its ways to forming, kill. Aethan pulls himself up, but before he can rush over to the man the door directly across from his slams open rattling the whole house and slamming into Sarena. A sharp brittle sound permeates and Sarena shrill scream indicate her nose is now broken. Sound of quick foot step follow and a boys head lowered like a bull intent on driving straight into the man's groin.
Here the man tosses Sarena like a ragdoll to the other man whom broke Sarenas nose. Just like before the same man at the same time as throwing Sarena pulls his leg back priming and brings it down and across Aethans delicate little stomach. Flying back across to were he awoke Aethan slams into the wall, spit up blood, falling to the floor creating a hole in the wall with his head. Fighting the invasion of unconscious Aethans using the new hole in the wall as a hand grip pulls himself up rasping to suck more air in. The door across from Aethan slams shut removing Sarena for his sights.
Another burst of energy rises from Aethans heels up his legs through his lung, and heart and eyes and brain, as if time itself stops, Aethans eyes become crystal clear and focus. Well up until Sarena's sharp,shrill, pain feeled and heart fluttering scream peirces through the walls and into every inch of the building
