I awoke chains shackling my arms above my head by the wrists. I swear this wasn't my idea of a fun time but it seemed this was how I continuously awoke. shackled beaten or having died this time I hadn't been killed just knocked out by a boot. I was desperate to know where I was and who had me. my life seemed to be a series of failures I'd get one accomplishment just to be laid with another failure at this point many would've just taken their lives but now suicide was even deprived of me. I was a mutant like a freak a half breed incapable of death shackled with longevity. it wasn't eternal youth but eternal damnation. I always felt deep down a part of me was disconnected from the rest and that I'd be here watching those I love just die. I felt I'd be their cause for death. I felt I'd end up killing them I had little to no control over my innate nature. most lycans have control of themselves as adults and they can't shift during the day it makes them tired and weak thus the reason for them only being seen at night. plus being part human makes their extremely acute eyesight sensitive to sunlight. it's too bright for them. their change has nothing to do with the moon. notice I say theirs mine is more monstrous and they look like tame puppies next to me. I could shift during the day and my level for blood lust was almost incomprehensible even to me. I studied the shackles and the dungeon I was in. there was no way I could brake these shackles. I felt inherently weak for some odd reason that was unexplainable. I noticed then the minute needle hole that was healing in my arm. poisons didn't kill me or any lycan for that matter but they did slow us down and make us vulnerable unable to shift and as close to human as we get. I had to have been injected with an extremely strong poison for it to not have worn off by now.my problem though wasn't the fact of the poison but who had me and why? I looked around the dark dank dungeon style cellar and heard other groans. the black eyes of a vardalak could be seen from afar. filthy bloodsuckers they liked drinking the blood of their victims they thought it made them strong. then I heard footsteps and smelt a slight scent I couldn't place. into my line of sight came a man dressed in doctors clothes but because my senses were human I couldn't place whether he was human lycan vardalak or bitten. the census was I was fucked either way. he walked up to me and made a slice on my ark and then drained some blood into a cup. he motioned with his hands and out stepped a lycan whose dark blood red eyes shone with malice. "oh so I'm at the castle then huh? took you pompous fucktards long enough to find me." he chuckled and then I seen stars. his hand was so fast I didn't see it and that wasn't a good sign for me. I was severely injured practically mortal and at this lycans mercy. "let general Tsou know that this one is awake an ready for testing." the lycan walked away and I looked at the doctor and dared to ask" where am I? who the fuck are you people?" "well that esteemed gentleman who left is a hunter for us and he helps humanity hunt down his own kind and bring them in and we run tests on them to make super soldiers out of their genes and DNA." oh fuck and this wasn't good cause our race endured anonymity and survived by that.even with our skirmishes we had clean up crews that made all accidents disappear this wasn't good that hunters resurrected with the human race our existence. it was worse it was one of our own kind that resurrected the human hunters and led them to know everything about us and how to combat us. I had 8 of 10 tasks left to complete to be successful at practicing the shadow rythm technique in a far more lethal capacity and I couldn't do anything. I knew not where Arya was at or if she was okay. what I did know was the shadow Rythm required perfect harmony with ones body and as long as it was dark if you moved just right no one could see you. it was a martial art and therefore was unaffected by my lycan bloodline.i sat still as a statue fading my mind from the world as I felt fast but unmoving hidden like a chameleon in the darkness. just then the doc came in and shouted "hey he's gone the shackles are empty what the Fuck happened?" the guard came over and unlocked the shackles and said "not possible they are locked" just then the doctor backed away in fear and as he turned around I grabbed the guard by his throat spun him around and snapped his neck.it was a feat in itself and it cost me alot of effort because I was weakened by a poison circulating my system. I needed to get out of here and prevent the doctor from sounding the alarm. I grabbed him up and knocked him out figuring he'd be useful. I began looking around for a gun something I could use when a ruby red sword caught my attention. I grabbed it up and decided this was the weapon I needed. I moved through the cellar with weak human eyes trying to see each and every captive looking for Arya. the vardalak spoke " names curtis and they took her to the upper floor for dissection" I nodded and unlocked his cell after finding the keys and asked that he show me. we made our way upstairs and the floor where she was to be. there was just enough shadows to sneak up on them. so I did moving swiftly and silently as curtis exclaimed noticing my disappearance. I slashed and cut the doctors to peaces coming out the shadows in different places each time as they picked up weapons to try and shoot me. I stopped once they were all dead and freed Arya and slung her arm over my shoulder still weak from the poison. curtis grabbed her and said "I'll follow you take care of threats" after checking to see he was close behind I started forward. each threat we encountered like the shadows blocking out the light I removed it from our sights. we made it outside and the vardalak hissed. they were even less tolerant of the light than we were and I forgot they were so sensitive their skin would get third degree burns and they'd be sick for weeks. I moved around the building and found a vehicle just as I felt the sun start to weaken me as well.i couldn't believe this I was more like a vardalak now because of this damn poison. I got in a tinted vehicle and drove over to him and Arya climbed in and we took off down the road to get away from this place. I didn't know we were on an island removed from civilization in a secret government facility for testing till we hit the shore. it was then I realized we truly are fucked and our only way out is to take over the military base and escape with the next transport. I needed this poison counteracted first or we were doomed. the final step was to take over the island to get helicopter transport out of here.
