The one who was actually terrified was Fen Hao as he saw the entire thing from his peripheral view. He tremblingly tapped Jin Lin's hand with his finger using a secret code they used as kids when they needed to run away from bullies.
To his surprise, Jin Lin slapped his finger away which directly translated to 'shut the fuck up'. Being scolded like this Fen Hao tried to maintain his composure as a stream of cold sweat streamed down his face.
He was about to release a breath he had been holding for a long time when those dark eyes suddenly stared at him making him shriek like a mouse internally. 'Fuck!..... Is it too late to take back the contract and go back home?' thought Fen Hao secretly praying for salvation.
Whether it was God, Shiva, Poseidon or Buddha he didn't care. He prayed to all of them hoping one of them would take pity and rescue this lowly one. But it seemed all of them were currently unavailable or possibly out of range because things turned for the worst. Maybe their services didn't reach as far as Equino.
Those dark eyes leaned closer to him as though trying to rob him of his soul. Too bad his soul had already flown away in fright. It probably was like, "Fuck it, I am not going to die with you," before deserting its post.
A slender tentacle slowly appeared as Tail Raiser's face slightly tilted to the right like a crazed maniac. The other tentacles let out a high pitched shriek as a black fog partially surrounded Tail Raiser's body. Fen Hao's heart almost stopped as his eyes reddened.
He gulped as the tentacle showed off its sharp hooked retractable barbs. The tentacled stopped right by his neck. Drops of cold sweat dripped on Fen Hao's face satisfying this creepy ancestor. The sinister face suddenly turned to Jin Lin like a ghoul in a horror movie. Jin Lin's heart jolted and he eyed the tentacle on Fen Hao's neck.
His palms instantly heated up with the tattoo on his neck covered by the raised collar itching. It was as though something within him was begging to be let out. It was a tempting offer and he was inching closer to taking it but the man who was curious about the tentacle eventually caved in and touched the tentacle attracting Tail Raiser's attention.
As soon as his creepy face turned around the two took the opportunity to sneak away. The person who had curiously touched the tentacle suffered a horrible fate. The sharp hooked barbs came out as the tentacle swung towards him. It hooked his face as it slapped him hard.
When it retracted it took half his face with it.
Bloodcurdling screams echoed the desolate area with some newcomers frozen in place and the others running towards the weird dense forest.
The newcomer was hit a second time and this time the tentacle tore his torso with oddly coloured blood splashing everywhere. Because they were novices who hadn't even gotten used to their own abilities they stood zero chance against these masters. It was either one runs or gets killed.
"Ha Hahahaha ha Hahahaha whoo, TRex doesn't disappoint," laughed Cream Shot as she swung her spear sending an invisible force to crack her chosen victim's skull, "Let's go hunting." She spoke after digging into the corpse to find the energy core.
Having found it she took back her blood-stained hand and looked at what she found. Her lips twitched when she saw a dull white colour. "Useless," she said before casually tossing the energy core away. Her long jet black hair bounced as she skipped to the forest with an eerie smile.
It was then Tail Raiser turned his head back only to find his prey gone. The darkness in his eyes flowed back into his pupil as he bellowed echoing the entire forest.
Cream Shot stopped and used her pinky finger to clean her ear as she accused him while pouting her lips, "Too noisy."
Tail Raiser acted like he hadn't heard what she said as he leapt up heading into the thick dense forest. "Wait for me," she said following behind him.
The once calm forest turned chaotic with little people running around like ants. Some of them managed to figure out how to use their skill so they fought back but as expected they stood zero chance against Cream Shot and her angry lap dog.
Bodies of novices soon began to fall in no time but Tail Raiser still hadn't found his target. That's because his target spent so much time playing Gods of Equino which gave him a little advantage.
This meant Jin Lin wasn't easy prey to catch. The two ran deep into the forest not bothering to look behind them. They could hear the screams and groans of the newcomers permeating the air but they didn't stop.
It was because of this exact reason that Fen Hao's foot accidentally got caught in a thorny root causing him to trip into a camouflaged rabbit hole.
Jin Lin stopped when he heard Fen Hao's screams. He dove into the rabbit hole as well. The pair of besties rolled ten times before their bodies came to a stop.
"*Cough, *cough..... Fen Fen where are you," enquired Jin Lin as he stood up from the ground with his eyes attempting to adjust to the darkness. The system used this opportunity to become useful asking,
"Would you like to activate your level one nightshade skill? It would help you see in the dark."
Jin Lin didn't hesitate to agree but soon realised he didn't need that at all because Fen Hao's painful groans led him to his exact location. Fen Hao was holding his right knee afraid to put his hand on the wound. "Haha dage, I am fucked," he said with his mouth almost foaming from the pain, "Just leave me here..... I will just be dragging you behind."
Jin Lin ignored him with his brows furrowed lost in thought.
"Go and find Chen-ge... I will be, I will be fine," said Fen Hao struggling to force back the tears.
"Will you shut up for a second," replied Jin Lin his tone harsh.
