Chan saw his cluelessness so he sighed and said.
"Okay.. let me explain it to you in detail then. I'll only say this once so listen carefully."
"As you know, Mages are known for their ability to feel and manipulate mana around them, but what exactly do they do to be able to do? What do they have to be able to do this?"
Chan paused and waited for an answer, only to see Mirage silently listening to him so he continued.
"Be they beginner mages or advanced mages, all of them have this talent called [ Mana Affinity ] in them, and as the name suggests, it is a talent that would help the mages to sense the mana around them."
"There are also a lot of talents that have the same use as [ Mana Affinity ], let me give you a few of them."
"There is the talent of sacred classes that would let them sense the divine energy lingering around them, it is called [ Divine Affinity ]."
"There is also a talent for the fighting classes such as warriors, thieves, and archers alike. This talent would let these class possess a frightening sensitivity towards the changes in their battlefield, this talent is called [ Battle Affinity ]."
"There are many more talents that I haven't mentioned yet but that's not important, what's important is that these talents have the same uses as the other's talents but in a way that suited their classes more."
"You could also say that these talents exist on everyone, but these talents have varying degrees of effectiveness."
"Some were able to sense a certain energy after they were born, some were not and had only sensed their affinity of a certain energy in their later years."
"These affinities also varied from each person, some are highly sensitive towards their affiliated energy, some would only feel it weakly."
"These sensitivities were called as a person's class potential, the higher the person's sensitivity towards their certain energy, the higher the strength that they could attain."
"These are also called as class limitations by some people, because if one would only be able to feel their affiliated energy weakly, then they would certainly encounter a bottleneck much earlier than others."
"The lower your sensitivity, the tougher it is to break through the bottleneck. Some were able to force their advancement by luck or through certain items, others weren't as lucky though as they could only stay on their own stages for the rest of their lives."
"Those who had advanced using external stimulation would certainly encounter another bottleneck, they would then have a much harder time to breakthrough."
"This class limitations not only apply to those with weaker potential but also to those with higher potential, just that they would only get their bottlenecks at higher stages."
"There's no such thing as limitless potential in this world, one would ultimately follow the way how the world works, after all, there should be a certain limit to everything."
Chan paused to catch his breath, he then faintly smiled and said to the dazed Mirage.
"As for the talent that each player would have? Who knows? We do not have the technology to accurately assess a player's talent, after all, so we are not too sure of your capabilities."
Chan squinted his eyes while looking at Mirage with interest and he continued.
"Maybe you have the so-called limitless potential or someone has it.. who knows?" he smilingly said.
Mirage still remained silent and unmoving.
He did not see Chan's angelic and charming smile at all, it seems that he was deeply lost in his thoughts.
Chan did not mind his silence and just patiently waited for his response. without disturbing him.
Mirage was carefully calculating the possibility of him having the talent to sense energies but he could not come up with a result.
He could not even sense ghosts much less sense the energies, if he only relied on his ability to sense the battles, then he felt that he should be on the higher end of the spectrum.
But battle sense and mana sense are two different things, one isn't used to sense energies while the other is used to sense what the other could not.
It's like comparing a child that plays physical toys while the other plays his games in a high-tech gadget that the other child could not afford.
The other child might mock the other for using a strange thing to play but ultimately, the one who was getting ridiculed was clearly much superior to the other in all aspects, be it intelligence or their playstyle.
Mirage felt a strong headache, in all of his life, he had not sensed nor felt any energies around him, he did not even believe in ghosts much less energies.
But now, he had to believe that these energies exist around him, he was distressed by this and thought that if only he had not chosen to become a mage then he would've fewer problems to deal with.
'Ahh... I should've chosen the Archer card. Hehehe this class is seriously..'
He might not have the talent to become a mage after all, so how could he act like it's nothing?
Does that mean that he had changed to a class that he could not even use?
What does that mean you say? It only means that he was cut off right before he could even start his journey to become strong!
Mirage grabbed and pulled his hair as if he had gone crazy, his face crumpled and what was shown was that of utter despair.
He incessantly cursed the game in his mind.
'How ridiculous! This game is killing me! Ah! Why do people like to make things complicated?! Why not give me the talent as a reward for my change class instead?!'
He was extremely frustrated until he suddenly received a notification.
[ You have gained insights of the talent complexity that each living beings have. ]
[ You have unlocked the Talent Tree as a result, Congratulations! ]
'W-what?' he was shocked.
He was pleasantly surprised by the notification he had received but he did not have any idea of what was displayed on it.
It was said that that he had somehow gained insights of the complexity of talents? But how? He had not comprehended anything at all! He was only cursing the game earlier and had suddenly received this notification.
'Does cursing works like this too?' he was confused yet felt pleasant because of this.
Then he suddenly had a thought.
'Wait.. what if it was because of the things that Chan had explained to me earlier? That's right! He explained the details of the talent to sense energies, so maybe the game system had somehow regarded this as me learning it myself?' he thought of the plausibility of this thought.
He felt that it had a high possibility of it really being the case, that Chan was related to his unlocking of Talent Tree.
He was instantly enlightened and fondly looked at the silently floating Chan, he looked as if he was looking at his lover that gave him an extremely precious gift which he coincidentally also needs.
Chan saw his sudden change of behavior and violently shuddered, his face became sickly pale, he hurriedly flew back.
After gaining some distance between them, he looked at Mirage with horror and trepidation.
As if appalled by Mirage's sudden changes he shouted in a fearful and hoarse voice, his face was filled with trepidation.
"You! Don't come near me! What are you planning to do?!"
Mirage heard this and just laughed out loud and ignored the fearful Chan and focused his attention on the newly added glowing talent tree beside his skill panel.
The tree beside the skill panel was looking grand and magnificent despite its miniature size, he unceremoniously tapped the button.
Then his consciousness was suddenly transported out of the shop, he was now standing in a vast grassland.
The grassland was empty except for a tree that was silently standing tall despite it being the only tree around.
The tree was extremely tall but it looked bare and desolate with no leaves nor fruits on its web-like branches.
It had a rough surface but wasn't too old nor rotten, it looked extremely sturdy instead.
He was speechless after examining the empty tree, he did not know what he should do with this tree.
It was his first time after all and no one had even informed him of this happening.
Should he touch the tree? Or like sprinkle it with water? He had no idea.
Nevertheless, he still went to touch the tree's surface and upon feeling the tree's rough surface, he suddenly heard strange mechanical clinking inside it.
He was shocked by the sudden sound strange sound and before he could even retreat, an extremely magical thing unfolded in front of his eyes.
A white light washed over him as if he were being scanned by the tree.
The light subsided, the tree suddenly displayed strange changes.
