Chapter 32 - Mirage's Thoughts

[ The Restriction on the Game Functions has been lifted. ]

[ The operation of the game system has resumed. ]

[ You have not died. ]

The three notifications came as a surprise to him but then he suddenly received more notifications.

[ The consciousness of the player is forcibly extracted out of [??] to return to your last spot. ]

[ Extraction successful. ]

[ You will return to your last spot in 3..2..1.. ]

The notifications come so suddenly that he was unable to react in time.

He did not feel pleasant about the thought of him returning, he only felt shocked and anxious about this abrupt turn of events.

He still had a business that he had yet to finish, he doesn't want to go back yet.

He reached his hands out as if he was hoping to touch the distant figure of the tall black tower.

But before he could fully extend his fingers, his body was instantly wrapped in a bright white light before his figure disappeared on the spot.

The [ Data Void ], as if it suddenly lost its mysterious radiance was no longer gray and had become dark and empty instead.

The darkness slowly crept its way in and slowly swallowed the silent mysterious space.

The mirror-like surface of the floor was the first to be swallowed, followed by the seemingly distant walls and ceilings, then it finally swallowed all of the undiscovered buildings, the tower was also engulfed by this darkness.

Its tall yet forlorn figure slowly melded with the darkness until it could no longer be seen.

The mysterious space became awfully quiet after the darkness had swallowed it whole, to say the least, the silence was extremely deafening and one would only feel fear and loneliness in this eerily quiet place.

No one knows if this bleak and desolate atmosphere was the true appearance of the space or not.

***

Inside the Water Spirit Temple.

Qianna and Aaron were on the verge of killing each other when they noticed the motionless Mirage in the corner had suddenly twitched his body.

Then under the pair's slightly shocked gazes, his eyelids slowly opened and a pair of unfocused emerald green eyes emerged.

He was like a sleeping prince that had just woken up from his long slumber.

Then suddenly that sleeping 'prince' abruptly stood up and yelled various innovatively shocking profanities.

He shouted at least a dozen or two of such undiscovered profanities.

"Damn it!!"

He shouted the last cursing word which is fairly common in the world.

He can't help but curse the game system for appearing with bad timing.

He was known for his intense adventurous spirit that he would often end up irritable if he had not managed to solve a mystery.

The mysterious grey space and especially that black tower had successfully triggered his adventurous spirit, but before he could explore it his consciousness was suddenly forcibly extracted out of that mysterious space.

Who wouldn't get annoyed by that? It should be normal for everyone to feel irritated if they were suddenly confiscated of the thing that interests them the most.

He did not even know if he would be able to go back to that weird space, much less explore that mysterious black tower.

Kill himself with the hopes of entering that space again? Not a chance. He could only say.

"Tough luck my friend but the answer is NO!"

Are you kidding him? He especially values his life over anything else so how could he possibly kill himself when he's like this?

He was indeed tempted to go back but was it even a certainty for him to enter that mysterious space again?

What if he had only managed to enter that space in some mysterious or accidental way?

He might've angered himself to death if he had wasted his chance in life just because of a single mysterious space.

He also felt that something important was missing here but he could not accurately point that feeling out, maybe he still felt out of place or needed some time to sort things out.

He knew that this gut feeling would serve its use someday thus he had to deal with this matter with utmost importance.

It has to be known that ever since he was a child until he had matured, he had always relied on his gut feeling to survive, and most of the time these feelings prove themselves right, well it is most of the time thus he could not rely on it too much.

He set this matter aside for now and relaxed his state of mind before carefully checking himself up.

He raised his hand and touched his neck, the slit had suddenly disappeared and not even a scar remained on his neck.

He was pleasantly surprised by the excellent healing, he thought that it must be a great person who had healed him, possibly the 'milkmaid' Undine.

He continued to examine his changes and went to open his character panel, he was at first emotionless and relaxed but then it suddenly turned into a shock that made his eyes go wide.

His character panel had suddenly increased so much in HP and especially his MP, how could he not feel shocked?

Mirage silently thought to himself.

'What happened? When did this suddenly happen? I did not receive a notification for this shocking change so how... Let me see..."

He opened his notifications and scrolled through them while carefully examining each content when he suddenly felt intense stares from two different directions.

He could feel a faint blaming resentment while the other emitted an intense killing intent as if he could not wait to tear him into pieces.

He bitterly sighed, in the end, he could not avoid these people and needs to deal with them first thus he reluctantly kept his game panel away.

He first looked at the resentful Qianna, he did not know why she's resentful, he could not remember that he had done something bad to her at all.

No matter how hard he thinks, he could not come up with the reason behind her inexplicable resentment.

He should be the one who would feel resentment instead as she was extremely useless and was just an extra baggage that he needed to carry when he was confronting the assassin earlier.

She should be showing him a thankful gaze for protecting her all this time and yet she had the audacity to look at him with resentment?

He was speechless by this but he did not want to confront and pursue her on this matter as the time was extremely inappropriate because there's still a person that he needed to deal with.

He directed his gaze away from Qianna before looking towards the direction with the most killing intent which is Aaron.

His emerald green eyes turned cold and shone a deep murderous light that made Aaron felt uneasy.

Aaron was the one who had almost killed him and it was a relief that he was healed in time or he feared that he might've really died.

He was filled with fear thinking about how he had almost died suddenly without being able to talk to his family.

He wanted to go back to his family so badly but he wasn't even able to find an answer for that.

He had already managed to deduce some clues here and there and had also gained some while he was trapped inside that unknown mysterious grey space.

The notification that he received also further proved his theory to be correct.

He had come up to a terrifying conclusion that his body in reality had been inexplicably transported to this game world he was playing.

He was sure that he was using his real body while he's playing and exploring this game, and the possible consequences of dying in this game were currently unknown.

He dared not imagine anything as he was afraid that it would seriously affect him in this game.

He strongly believed in the notion of his body's mysterious transport and this is not just some baseless results without any evidence.

He's not a 100% sure about these terrifying thoughts though but he still felt that he should be around 80-90% of the truth based on the few clues that he had gathered.

The first clue that he collected was about his inability to log out of the game since day one.

He had thought about this mystery for a long time and felt that this shouldn't be a simple error but a function that the game had purposely implemented for the players to experience.

The second clue that he collected was about his real-life genetic injury, he had thought of this problem inside that mysterious grey space.

Did the game really have such high technology that was able to accurately emulate each player's genetic structures?

And even if it did, why had they gone to the extent that they had even copied the genetic injury that has plagued him since birth?
