Chapter 17 - Qianna and the Mysterious Curse

Surprisingly, there was an azure-haired youth behind the blue-clad woman as he used a bone dagger on his hand and pointed its tip close to her neck.

The youth had narrowed eyes while he displayed a smile that made him look like a serial killer and the black-clad man saw his creepy smile as he was just a few meters away from the woman, and seeing his smile made him felt dread and slight horror as he temporarily forgot that there was a water torrent about to burst below him.

The blue-clad woman was shivering as she felt the ice-cold surface of the bone dagger and she even felt that if the sharp dagger were just to move by an inch then she would've had died over time due to severe blood loss.

She had no idea about how did this sneaky bastard manage to approach her back without her knowledge as the only thing she knew was that after she successfully casted her spell earlier, she suddenly felt intense exhaustion deep inside her as it just too much of a toll on her body.

The spell almost exhausted all of the stored mana in her crystal ball as it truly looked dim and lifeless and if not for her seeing the faint glow below its surface then she would've assumed that it was completely expended.

She felt that it was a pity as she had stored and saved those mana for at least a few years and it was almost expended completely with just a single fight, nevertheless, she felt extremely elated as she successfully pulled the skill off, but then suddenly the next thing she knew was that her life was suddenly in another's hand.

She almost fainted from anger while at the same time she was at a loss because of the sudden changes in her situation, she thought that she had already won the fight after casting the spell, yet who would've thought that the youth whom she thought to be insignificant and of the least threat to her would be able to successfully sneak behind her back?

She asked herself if it was due to her carelessness or exhaustion that he was able to successfully pull it off, but right now the reason had the least importance to her as she had to think of how she would be able to get out of her predicament alive.

She had no idea about what would the youth do to a helpless girl like her thus she shifted her sapphire blue eyes and looked at the youth with pitiful and pleading gaze only for her expression to suddenly freeze because of the malicious smiling face that the man currently directed towards her.

She suddenly had an urge to cry as she silently thought to herself.

'Help! There's a psychopath weirdly smiling at me!'

The name of the woman in blue was Qianna, she's 21 years old, no one knew of her origin but it could be said that her name was quite terrifying that could incite awe and fear amongst the countless geniuses of the Beastly Wilderness.

Everyone knew of her as the monstrously talented water mage in the continent who rose to fame like an extremely dark horse.

Then suddenly, news came that she experienced a major catastrophe that caused her downfall and rendered her talents worthless due to her inability to advance any further.

It was quite a hot topic amongst the people of the continent and some even created various groundless rumors and speculations that made the truth about her get increasingly twisted.

Some say that she suffered a backlash because of her spell creation while others say otherwise, saying that her talents had already been used up.

There are also rumors circulating around the continent that says that she practiced an extremely evil magic arts that made her came to where she was and that she suffered the side effects of the said evil arts.

The truth was that she had been afflicted by a strange curse from one of her dreams, she did not manage to see who cursed her in her sleep but she knew that it was an extremely terrifying being who also held great hate towards her.

It just seemed to her that it was being restrained by something that made it unable to go to her personally thus only leaving a curse behind.

It was an extremely horrifying experience that caused an irresolvable deep trauma to form on her, it made her have nightmares every time she sleeps.

The curse deprived her from ascending to the next stage, she was filled with intense grief and sorrow after she found out about her miserable situation and she even almost took her life because of sadness.

She tried seeking help from devouts and even priests themselves but she was only met with disappointment saying that they were unable to help her situation due to their insufficient cleansing capabilities.

She was extremely angry by this and felt even more despair but held herself back from killing out of anger, she instead tried to find the cure for the curse by herself but she was yet again met with another heart-rending disappointment.

At that time, she finally felt for herself that there was no cure for her and her emotions slowly broke apart until the day she tried to kill herself arrived.

She tried to kill herself on the day of the death of her beloved late mother, she wanted to go back to her embrace as she couldn't live in extreme agony any longer.

Thus she bought an extremely potent poison from a famous Poison Master and immediately consumed it for herself after she got back to her home.

She felt the horrifying acidic and poisonous water rapidly corroding her insides and it bought her great pain to the point that she went unconscious due to the sheer pain she felt because of the poison at that time.

But then she suddenly woke up the next day, her body unharmed and extremely healthy, she was shocked that she almost passed out yet again due to her weird and vexing situation.

She had obviously consumed all of the poison until its last drop but how could she still wake up from that potent poison?

Thus she left her house and went to find the Poison Master who sold her the bottle of 'expired' poison and told him of everything that happened only to be stared at weirdly by the person as if he was looking at a madwoman.

She was extremely angry by his expression but she still held herself back from lashing out and she instead asked him with great patience.

But the only explanation she received from the man was that: "My poison is known for its ability to instantly corrode the flesh of a perfectly healthy human being and the poison that I gave to you was newly brewed so how could it possibly be an expired product?"

She wasn't convinced thus she asked him more questions but it only made the Poison Master more impatient as he finally lashed out at her and said in an angry voice.

"Get lost! I know your tactics and don't bother to ask for a refund from me because I won't fall for your scam! Shoo! I'll submerge you with my poison if you wouldn't get out!"

Her face gloomed but she could only go back to her house with a disappointed expression, then she suddenly remembered the last words of the man, she abruptly stood up in her seat as she instantly felt regret wash over her.

The man said that he would submerge her with his poison and it so coincidentally that she badly wanted to die as well, it would've been very nice if she had only accepted his kind offer to end her suffering.

But she shook her head at this thought as she didn't know if her body would suddenly become poison-resistant yet again.

What if the man would keep her in his house and treat her as an undying guinea pig? Just the thought of consuming and bathing on different kinds of poison would make one violently shudder in fear.

A long time passed, and she had already tried countless methods to kill herself and she found herself waking up after the day of suicide every time.

She tried bathing in a poison, cutting her throat with a knife, hang herself in a ceiling with a rope wrapped around her neck, yet all of these methods failed.

But all of these suicide attempts didn't go to waste though as she found out that every time she tried to kill herself, there would be a mysterious force coming deep inside her that prevented her body from dying an intentional death.

She didn't get killed and instead suffer a needlessly painful sensation every time she tried to kill herself, so she ultimately gave up on the notion of killing herself and went to live an ordinary life.

Her fame eventually died out until only a few people could remember her.
