"Did you become a statue?" she muttered underneath her breath.
He froze.
This time, it was not in an attempt to hide himself, but rather because he had confirmed that she could see him. She had just touched him after all.
"Hey." She called out to him once more, after noticing that he was breathing, and was not, in fact, a statue. "Can you speak?" she cocked her head.
He opened his mouth, once, twice, but no sound came out. Once he realized that, due to not having spoken in such a long time, his voice was actually gone, he squinted his eyes slightly.
"It's alright if you can't." Evy spoke up, and looked up at him, her pale purple eyes looking a shade darker as she looked up at him. "You don't have to force yourself."
Although it had been long since he spoke to anyone, he did not think that the one day that he had the opportunity to speak to someone else, he would actually be unable to.
