"So what can you teach me?" Jack asks, standing with his arms folded in front of him.
"Hmm. What would you like to learn first?" Nitte replies with an innocent voice.
"I don't know. Can you teach me how to fly?" Jack then makes a snickering noise, thinking it must sound ridiculous.
"I'm glad you mention that. I can kind of teach you how to fly. But probably not on the same level as mine."
Upon hearing this, Jack starts to laugh and shakes his head. He obviously does not believe Nitte.
Nitte now also folds her arms, and she walks up to him, bumping his body.
"I'm thinking about teaching you something else right now. As a teacher, I think I can decide my lesson plans. I want the first lesson to be about something else."
"OK? About what? Jump really high?"
"No. We need to practice extracting energy from you. Hmm. Have you been called a wolf?"
"Yeah, I guess. I mean, that's part of my full legal name. My full name is Jack Wolf. It's... um... I think it's supposed to be derived from Wolfgang, so probably German."
"OK. I see. You do emit a wolf aura to me. We can work on that." Nitte actually has a straight face on. She is serious about what she says.
Jack tries not to laugh at her, because he can tell she is not joking. Even though, it's quite silly. And then, to his surprise, she is taking her shoes off.
"One very easy way to wake up your primal instincts is through your sexual desire," she looks up. Her body is bent down still.
"OK, Nitte. Put your shoes back on."
Nitte then kneel in front of Jack. Her hands quickly hold onto Jack's waist.
"Are you still a virgin, Jack?"
"No!"
"What do you like me to do to your body right now?"
"I'd like you to stand up."
Nitte stands up, but she pushes Jack to the couch. She then sits on top of his lap.
She then whispers playfully, "I think you have the potential to develop a few supernatural abilities. Don't you want that?"
"I guess."
She pokes his arm, "You are so silly. You don't have to do everything alone. We can find the hacker together. I want to show you my method. You'll like it."
Jack feels very trapped.
Why is everyone hassling him? Nitte and Keith just keep trying to get him to do stuff for them.
She tugs his arm like she's urging him to go to the playground with her, "Is there any point in your life that you face a near-death experience?"
She sways her body a little and then holds his hands.
"I guess not really. No."
"OK. We can get to that later. I want to teach you how to shapeshift first. So you can travel with me faster. And, I can help wake up more of your power. I think you have more."
"How? By making out with you, I can learn how to shapeshift?" Jack stares at her, making a mocking laughing sound.
Nitte frowns, "Geez, Jack. One day you are going to regret being so rude to me."
Jack doesn't like the sound of that.
Nitte pouts a little, "Since you deny having desire for me, and seems to have no interest in me. We will just move on to other ways to bring your potential out. How have you been getting yours?"
"What?"
"What is the source of energy? You have been punching people, shooting people, chasing after people, doing all the actions you do. You have to have a source of energy, don't you? Like we must eat to have the strength to move!"
"Ha ha. I was just going to say, I eat food to get my energy.
Jack does not know what she wants to achieve by doing this. He wipes his forehead, feeling a little sweaty.
Nitte lets out a single laugh, "OK. I'm going to show you something else now. This is all part of the training. Watch this." Nitte pulls her phone out and puts it in front of Jack's face.
Nitte is showing Jack a video. It's a video of Jack's ex girlfriend, who is now getting married. In this wedding rehearsal video, she seems to be practicing "the first dance" with her man. She is necking, whispering to a man. And then she laughs, and then the man pulls her close to him. They finally dance a little bit. And everyone claps.
"Just wanted to remind you of that-- Your ex girlfriend is getting married."
Jack's heart is dropping. He feels his blood draining away from him. He thinks his throat is tightened up.
Of course, Jack knows his ex girlfriend is dating someone else. Pretty much immediately after they broke up, she was already seeing a new guy. Within a year, she moved away with that guy. But he has to admit, he didn't know they were getting married.
He doesn't understand why his ex girlfriend never considered marrying him. Especially, he has asked her to marry him. Soon after he asked that, she broke up with him, telling him, she didn't feel right being with him. She only felt "99% sure" that they should be together. But she didn't like there was 1% of uncertainty. It's the lamest, stupidest thing to say. She then said, "you must accept my truth." He felt really hurt that "her truth" was not very sure to be with him. Why? What was wrong with him? And seriously, Jack resented that she used the word "truth." Like he was just clueless, just blind to the truth.
There was not a lot of explanation. He just knew, his ex girlfriend went on a trip to visit some friends, and she came back, telling him she didn't feel connected to him anymore. He had wondered if his ex girlfriend had been cheating on him. Maybe, she went on a trip with that guy. Maybe, she even met that guy on the trip.
Jack doesn't want to show any emotion in front of Nitte. He hopes he has hidden that well.
"How did you find out about who my ex girlfriend is? Did you follow her? She doesn't even live in New York City anymore. She lives in Florida now." Jack asks.
"No, silly bean, I didn't go to Florida. I may have superpowers, but I can't fly back and forth—I don't know—more than a thousand of miles? A couple of thousands of miles? This video is posted yesterday. It's impossible I can travel that far in less than 24 hours and come here to be with you." Nitte toys her hair and tilts her face upward, "Hmm..., maybe I can travel that fast, I just haven't tried."
"OK, then where did you get the video?"
"Silly Jack! I found it on social media! And I don't follow anyone on social media either. People follow me, OK? I'm kind of popular." Nitte then laughs. "Alright. I'll tell you how I found the video. All I did was I went through YOUR social media posts. And I found her name linked to your photos. Then I clicked on her name. Then I saw the video. This doesn't take a detective to figure out. She didn't even make the wedding rehearsal video a private video. Everyone can see it. Even me. And I don't even know her."
Jack's ex girlfriend does document almost everything in her life and posts them online. Everyday, she posts a picture of her breakfast, her lunch, her dinner. She also posts whenever she makes a cup of coffee and always adds a few hashtags that only she uses. He always finds people who make up hashtags that no one else uses quite stupid. The meaning of hashtag is to categorize things for others to find a list of similar things. But if you just randomly hashtag something that no one else does, that totally defeats the purpose-- You're just creating categories for trivial things you do. No one needs those trivial categories except you.
Whatever. She is out of your life now, Jack. But it hurts to know, she'd rather marry someone else than him.
"OK, thanks for showing me this. I don't think it matters to me anymore. She's not my girlfriend now."
"I can already see a new energy rising in you," Nitte says, "I think I need to keep your new energy coming. Then let me just tell you another piece of information: There are other guys who feel really disappointed that your girlfriend is getting married. There is a Wall Street guy she dated kind of before you. Looks like the woman you love keeps attracting many different men. Even if she doesn't get married right now, she probably wouldn't choose you either."
"I don't love her!" Jack raises his voice, but his voice is dry. He feels… hurt.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to yell at you." Jack apologizes. It's not Nitte's fault.
"Let me tell you, Jack, I think you've been using anger and hate as the sources of your energy. They are awesome sources. But the best one is not from those two emotions." Nitte is finally using a mature voice to speak to Jack.
"You can tell I use hate and anger as my sources?"
"Yeah. Your cop job makes you use hate and anger a lot. You can use them for sure. But they are not the best one. I'm not trying to brag, but I'm probably the most powerful person in terms of supernatural abilities in North America right now. And I don't ONLY use hate and anger to get my special talents going. I want to teach you how to discover a better source."
