Leif laughs a hearty laugh. "If I tell you the truth, will you promise to be honest with me from now on?"
"Sure." Bob says quickly.
But Bob probably shouldn't have promised that.
"I did not kill those two people. A former Green Beret guy, Keith Hutchins, who was killing people with Nitte Hollow Horn is the one who did it." Leif says.
"Is that why there were animal bites?"
"Yes," Rosanne answers this time, "I will also be honest with you from now on, Robert. I did emphasize on the animal bite marks on purpose in the police report to get Nitte in trouble. But, Nitte did cause the bites. She just didn't bite them to kill the victims. But to move them, kind of holding their limbs in her mouth."
"Are you saying Nitte move those two over to Hell's Kitchen?"
"No. I don't know how yet, but she probably knocked or shocked them unconscious, and then moved them by her animal mouth, either in the shape of a fox or a wolf or a bear. I don't know. But she was in animal form when she moved the body. And then Keith killed them." Leif explains.
"OK." Bob nods, thinking on the information.
Leif grabs Bob's arm, "Well, let's go. Let's do something."
"Do what?"
"Do what you normally do. You haven't done it in a long time. " Rosanne also puts a hand on Bob's other arm.
Bob looks at both of them, trying to determine what they mean... and what they know.
Rosanne smiles, "Don't act like you don't know what we are talking about. I thought we will be honest from now on. I know what you do in the dark."
*** ***
Rosanne and Leif have taken Bob to North Bergen, New Jersey. They are now in a residential area.
"What are we doing here?" Bob asks.
"Teach the corrupted teacher a lesson. Nothing physical necessary, like you usually do." Rosanne says.
"This teacher is possibly helping Nitte to make a glue type of substance for Nitte. We want to know why Nitte wants that and make him stop."
"Wait a minute. Have you guys planned to get me to do this tonight?"
"No. You asked me to have dinner with me, remember? How would I know you wanted to do that?" Rosanne says.
"This is just a coincidence. Rosanne texted me that she will be having dinner with you. I've decided to come get you to do this together. Since you were pretty good at making that nurse who stole drugs from old patients confess." Leif says.
"And how did you know I make a nurse who stole drugs confess?"
"Because I was going to steal some drugs that night and then I saw you." Leif smiles, "To steal the drug to use on this chemistry teacher. I want to make the chemistry teacher compliant and loosey. That was all I was trying to do."
Bob can't say he would object to that. Leif seems to have his own mission.
"And I suppose you tell Rosanne you saw me?" Bob says.
Leif nods, "I didn't know who you were. I tried to follow you, but you seemed to be able to hear everything even from afar. Even before I started to follow you, you already very quickly looked back in my direction, so I knew you were hard to follow. But as luck would have it, just the other day, I think it's the same day as Rosanne has formally met you, and I was trying to reach Rosanne so I could tell her something in person, I saw you talking to her outside police headquarter building. I later asked Rosanne who you were. She said it was you. Then I told her."
"And soon after that, I was very determined I had to snoop around your desk to find out more about you, knowing what you secretly do at night and that you hate any publicity. I didn't tell you all the reasons why I tried to look at your stuff earlier. Sorry. But I am being honest now." Rosanne speaks tenderly.
Bob takes a breath, but his surprise is quickly subdued and he already collected. "OK. Yes. I do that sometimes."
"Good. I like that we are being honest. So, I'll share one more secret," Leif looks at Rosanne before he continues, "I do have superpowers."
"Oh. What do you have?" Bob isn't surprised.
"I prefer to show, rather than tell. That's why I invited you here. Let's do this."
Leif turns the door knob on this teacher's door. The door opens.
"I guess luckily this teacher didn't lock his door."
"Mr. Anthony did lock his door. I just broke it by twisting it." Leif pushes the door, steps inside and lets them in.
Bob passes the door and sees that the entire door knob has come off.
"Oh. Well. That's going to end up in a police report." Bob looks at the hollow hole where the door knob was supposed to be.
"He won't file one." Leif smiles.
They continue to walk into the house, and the wooden floor makes a little bit of creaking noises. But no one in this house is alarmed.
They climb upstairs. Leif slowly opens the first door in the hallway. That is where Mr. Anthony is sleeping.
Leif walks in there first, as quietly as he can, and then he quickly puts a hand over Mr. Anthony's mouth.
Mr. Anthony immediately opens his eyes and screams. But his scream is muffled by Leif's giant hand.
"Shhh. George. Mind if I call you by your first name? It's me. Leif. And my friends."
"What do you want?" Asks George Anthony, the chemistry teacher.
"As long as you answer me questions to my satisfaction, none of what you do will be revealed." Leif finally takes his hand off.
"Are you f*king serious? You are the one who breaks into my house in the middle of the night."
"Yeah, but you stole chemical supplies from school." Leif says, staring at the teacher with his cold eyes.
"You have no proof."
"Oh my god, you are the only one with the key to the supplies in the lab." Leif rolls his eyes.
"OK. Fine. What do you want to know?"
"Why does Nitte want you to make those substance for her?"
"Why don't you ask her?" The teacher is still trying to be defiant.
"Oh. So you won't answer me then," Leif looks back at Bob. Leif then starts to crack his knuckles, making cracking and popping sounds with his hands, as if Leif is about to punch.
Bob is amused by this. He decides to scare this teacher a little as well. So he takes a few steps towards Mr. Anthony's bedside.
"So, Mr. Anthony. I can tell from your last name that you are Italian. You must have a big family. Your family is going to cry so hard for you when you die tonight."
Mr. Anthony is immediately intimidated.
Leif is tall and big and muscular, standing over by the left side of the bed. Bob is not as broad and big as Leif, but he is lean and tall and he is standing on the right side by the window, so Bob's long shadow is literally overshadowing Mr. Anthony.
"OK. I'll answer your question." Mr. Anthony sits up, "Nitte says... Nitte says, she needs syrup-like gooey and thick substance, but she doesn't want to use real syrup because it's too messy and sticky that would attract ants. She just need that kind of consistency. I told her I can easily make some for her."
"What does she use it for?"
"She says, that kind of substance will help her preserve... something she hunted. She says she likes hunting and she intends to preserve those game carcasses. She pours those glue-like thing on the dead animals."
Leif suddenly grabs the bed post and shakes it. He grunts: "God damn it, Nitte! That is why I need to find her!"
