Chapter 71 - Annie Are You OK, Are You OK Annie

Bob finally forces the red Volvo into a dead-end alley. He then uses police loud speaker and asks the driver to turn off the engine.

"Hands on the steering wheel. Don't mess around." Bob says.

Bob and Jack then both get out of the car. Rosanne quickly tries to open the door in the back but it is locked.

"Damn it, Bob! Unlock the door for me! I'm not a prisoner."

Bob is tempted to ignore her, but he says, "Stay put, Annie. You can safely observe us from the car."

Rosanne's face turns red. She murmurs to herself, "Did Bob just call me Annie?"

Bob and Jack approach the vehicle from two different sides slowly and carefully. Rosanne suddenly realizes one thing: "Wait. Did you guys even have weapons? Hello?"

No. That's just how daring and bold these two guys are. They have no guns, no weapons on them. Jack has turned in his police gun to Police Chief long ago when he was suspended. Because Jack is now just on desk assignment, they never gave his gun back. Jack personally doesn't own a gun.

Bob hasn't been assigned a police gun yet. Although Bob has decades of experience in handling firearms, he doesn't own a gun personally either.

Bob stops at an angle that allows him to see the driver. And he realizes the driver is a girl. A skinny girl.

From Jack's angle, he can also see the driver now. It's Nitte.

What the f*k is Nitte doing?

"Damn it, Nitte!" Jack yells, "Get off the car."

To their surprise, she reaches over to the passenger side door and opens it. She gingerly moves over to the passenger side. This is the side that Jack is standing close to.

One long leg sticks out. A foot with toenails painted in pink wearing a roman lace up sandal steps on the floor. Jack swallows. Senses of arousal wakes up inside him. Nitte's body is sign of pleasure to him now. A visual cue of nice and loving feeling in him.

"Nitte. What is going on?" Jack asks again.

"What do you mean?" She asks in an innocent, baby-tone voice, "I was simply driving. I didn't want to block you guys or slow you guys down, so I sped up to let you guys get to wherever you need to go."

Bob shakes his head, "Please, Miss, you are supposed to stop when a police cruiser has its sirens turned on."

"Oh really? I didn't know. Will you please just let me off the hook with just a verbal warning?" Nitte pouts her lips.

"Admit it. Why are you trying to distract us?" Bob asks.

"Oh, that's silly. I'm not trying to distract anyone. Unless, Jack here, is distracted on his own." Nitte throws Jack a glance.

"Nitte, I have no time for this. Bob, she is somehow trying to stall us. Let's go." Jack waves his arm.

"However, who is in the car with you guys?" Nitte tip toes, trying to see what's in the car.

Jack hesitates, "Nitte, please, I have not done anything wrong to you so far. Please don't make my job harder. We need to get to the crime scene now. And honestly, if you have something to do with the crime, you'd better tell us now."

Nitte takes two steps towards Jack, and then she gestures Bob to come over. Bob frowns.

"Come on, Bobby. I have something to tell you guys," Nitte makes a beckoning sign with just her index finger.

Bob walks around the rear side of the red Volvo and approaches Nitte. Before he reaches Nitte, Bob glances towards the car, checking Rosanne. She seems to just be watching. Bob can't tell how she is reacting to this.

Bob stops and stands next to Jack.

Nitte then says, "Look, once you get to your crime scene, you're going to think this looks like it's done by me. But I can only tell you I didn't do anything. I was just leaving Jack's house when the crime supposedly happened. But, I don't think I can use Jack as an alibi because this would make Jack's job a little too complicated."

Jack opens his mouth, he is impressed that Nitte has thought about his situation.

Nitte says, "Well, check out that girl's background. The girl in your car. I suspect that she works for someone that's not going to be too kind for me. Maybe you guys can flip her. Make her come join me."

Nitte turns her face to smile at Bob, "And Bobby, you should consider joining my team. Jack is on my team now. You seem like a cool guy. Maybe you have some potential in you as well."

Bob chuckles, "I sure have lots of potential. Yeah. Don't be a stranger. You should come back and hang out more. Let's talk about what exactly you want to do."

Nitte nods, "I like your style. Alright. I will be in touch. Cheerio." Nitte then gets back into the car, ready to drive away.

"Hey," Jack yells, "Where did you even get this old car?"

Nitte sticks her head out. Her dark hair flies in the air because of the wind, "I stole it, of course. Go solve some crime. Bye." Nitte backs the car out and then drives away in a normal speed.

Bob and Jack walk back to the car and get in. Bob turns on the sirens again, ready to get to the crime scene in Hell's Kitchen.

"Um, excuse me, sir, what was that? Did you just let that person go?" Rosanne asks in the backseat.

"Yeah. I did." Bob says as he backs out and he is looking towards the back.

"Well, that driver was acting suspiciously. Did you find out something fishy?" Rosanne asks.

"Yeah. I did. You are."

"What?" Rosanne is shocked by Bob's reply.

"I think it's too coincidental that you happened to walk past Hell's Kitchen before work. Why were you even there in the morning before work? Police headquarter is not near there. Why would you want to walk through an unsafe area? I also think it's strange for a couple to be walking around there at that time in an area that is unsafe. But, I'll take a look at the scene and the victims." Bob says calmly as he starts to increase his speed on the road.

Rosanne wants to say something in protest but the speed is making her a little nervous and difficult to speak properly.

They finally arrive at the scene. Both Bob and Jack get off the car. Bob still doesn't unlock the backseat door for Rosanne.

"Hey! Don't be a jerk! Let me out! I've talked to the witness." Rosanne bangs on the window.

"No. I think it's better that I talk to the witness first before I let you out. Stay put." Bob says.

Jack finds this situation a little strange. He thinks Bob doesn't trust Rosanne anymore. Just because what Nitte insinuated?

Although, Nitte might have a point. Could Rosanne be someone secretly working for Keith?

"Hey there. I'm Bob Tchaikovsky. Captain Rogers wanted me to take a look at this case. What do you see here?" Bob approaches and talks to a patrol officer.

Jack scans the crime scene and he looks over at Bob. Bob is currently lifting white sheets off both victims. Jack can see that both the man and the woman's neck seemed to have been bitten.

Hmm. That seems strange. People don't just die from a bite. There has to be more than that. Something more bizarre and beyond the natural forces.
