Nitte has been following Jack. When she said good bye and ran out in the form of a mouse, she didn't really go far. She simply went out and climbed right back through the water pipes. She then stayed under Jack couch when he's home. She left with Jack when he went to work.
New York City has a lot of rodents. So hanging around as mouse is not obvious to anyone at all. There could even be rats inside the subway. No one really pays attention to them unless those rats are doing something funny, like, sharing a slice of pizza, fighting for something, etc.
This is why Nitte has heard that Jack got a task from Keith, and it is asking him to find a computer hacker's girlfriend. Nitte wants to know all about this not because Nitte is interested in Jack specifically. Nitte wants to know what Keith wants Jack to do.
Nitte finds this little assignment somewhat interesting. Although, she is not too pleased that Keith has got Jack to work for him. Nitte wants to use Jack to do something else, too. Maybe she will just have to be patient. Maybe, they can take turns. Jack can do one thing for Keith, then Jack should do one thing for her. That's only fair, right?
Of course, Nitte is not going to tell Jack that she already found out who the girlfriend is. Amelia with short blond hair.
Nitte is not going to help Jack to find her. The most obvious reason is because Jack needs to do that on his own, otherwise it is not fun. Another reason is, she kind of hopes Jack never finds this Amelia girl. She wants Jack to be frustrated and maybe even bored, so Jack would probably give up and turn to Nitte. That's at least Nitte's plan.
But after Nitte saw what Amelia looks like, she is also a little worried. Amelia is pretty. The popular type of pretty. She wants to know if Jack likes a girl like Amelia. So, Nitte decides to play a trick. Actually, two tricks. One is a Fox Fairy's trick. The other is Skinwalker's shapeshifting trick, of course.
Nitte shapeshifts into Amelia's look, purposely waiting for Jack to see. Through the peep hole, through the gap of the door. Then, after exposing Amelia's look to Jack, Nitte kind of becomes a mirror. A mirror that will show exactly what Jack wants to see. The image is purely the projection of Jack's desire.
So, if Jack continues to see Amelia reflected on Nitte, that means Jack has lust for Amelia's looks.
That is why, Nitte keeps asking Jack what he sees exactly.
Nitte asks again, "So, what did you see when you open the door?"
"I saw a tall girl with short blond hair."
"And? Do you continue to see that girl, but then because of how I behaved, you thought it was me."
"That's one part of the reason."
"What do you mean?" Nitte is now very eager.
"I saw you when you start to touch me around my lower body. You obviously shapeshifted earlier as another girl and then changed back, trying to fool me."
Nitte can't believe her ears. Jack saw her as her! She smiles big, she pushes Jack into his living room.
"Hey Nitte. I'm not inviting you in. I'm busy. Stop coming to my apartment like this."
But Jack notices Nitte smiling in a different way right now. Not a mischievous smile. She looks almost a little sad. But then she is also glad.
"Nitte, can you please, tell me why you are here other than showing off your special ability?" Jack tries to be civil with her. He doesn't know what's going on in her head.
"I will tell you why. And I can help you tremendously."
"Argh!" Jack yells in frustration, "Why can't you just speak normally? Always has to be so mysterious. In fact, you haven't even explained why you wanted to know what I saw. You made it sound like the most important thing in the world."
"Oh," Nitte sticks a tongue out, "I was so touched by your answer that I forgot to tell you. Well, I asked because I was using a power that reflects who you have desire for. That's why I wanted to know who you saw."
Jack shakes his head. He doesn't show any emotions on his face, but he is embarrassed. Does that mean he has desire for Nitte? Bull crap! No way! Nitte is one hell of a wack job. Nitte is no where near the kind of girl he likes. Not a chance.
Nitte puts both her hands behind her back, tip toing, trying to meet Jack's eyes, "Oh Jack. I was so happy to hear you saw me. I don't remember the last time I met a guy who actually sees me as me when I used that trick. They always see someone else. They always then try to have intercourse with the image they have in mind. But, you are probably the only one who sees me as me. I guess that means you want to sleep with me."
Jack just laughs, loudly and heartily, "Good gracious almighty, Nitte! For Pete's sake, you are really not from this world. You are so damn confident and so sure of yourself, huh? No thank you. Next topic, please?"
Nitte just smiles, bouncing her heels slightly up and down like she's a ballet dancer.
"Nothing else to talk about? OK, next time, you can just call me if you have something to say. No need to always show up unannounced."
"What if I can teach you some tricks for you to find the hacker? You know, I've been telling you, I can teach you something."
Jack does remember that. He thinks about that.
Nitte pouts her lips, still bouncing her heels.
Damn it, she kind of looks cute this way. Long hair touching her body. She has a warmer smile right now. Most importantly, earlier she has a sad smile. That actually leaves a huge impression on him. It makes Jack curious.
Jack looks away. He is not sure if he should spend more time with her. He does not want anything too complicated. He can already see that she is going to complicate his life.
But Jack is known for taking risks. Jack is also a little impulsive at times. He is very curious to know what Nitte can teach him. And he thinks is a little more curious about Nitte now.
