Chapter 48 - INFORMED.

Bendra had asked Achlysa the position of her room before carrying her there at super speed. He had not come here to exchange greetings with King Mafilso. He had come here because he came across something. It was not something he could ask her over telepathy. Nor was it something he could just bring up with people around. He wanted to see her reaction and get information from it too.

He had learned the skill of keeping a few things at heart and not letting them leak to Achlysa. This was not only for her own good but also to protect her. There are things he knew that could easily be tortured out of her when his enemies found out she was his mate. Which was bound to happen sooner or later. However, he did not expect it to be this soon.

Bendra had tried time and again to come up with a way to ask this but he still could not find the right words. Perhaps he should come right out with it or paraphrase it? He thought long and hard but still nothing. Now time was drawing near and his mind was blank.

He kicked her bedroom doors open before kicking them shut again. Achlysa had laid still in his arms and he almost let her drop on the floor. Bendra went ahead and placed her on the bed before pacing back and forth.

Achlysa sensed that something was amiss. She did not want to but she had to ask. A moment ago, she could feel everything he was thinking but now that connection was locked. It seemed whatever it was was a serious matter to make him pace like this.

It was a first for her and believe it or not, for him too. Achlysa called out to him but his attention was elsewhere. She tried a few more times before she decided to act. Grabbing hold of her staff, she stood up. Her legs immediately sent pain signals to her brain. She could not stand so she fell on the floor. This caught Bendra's attention.

He came and helped her stand and he caught a glimpse of a mark that was not on her body when she left. He became angry. His claws grew as he grabbed her hand asked what it was. Achlysa looked at him confused by this. Bendra got the message and calmed down a bit. Achlysa sat on her bed, Bendra apologized and moved back.

"It's about what I asked isn't it?"

"Mn."

"What did you find?"

"Brace yourself."

Knowing what was coming, Achlysa cast a spell on the room like she had done before. When she was done, she let him continue. Bendra went and sat next to her before he told her what he had found.

"Achlysa was the name given to a girl born of a greater demon and a guardian ranked angel. Some say, it was a greater demon and a fae but sources tell me the former is the case. Back then, the offspring of light and dark entities was considered a taboo. And even though, they were mates, they were executed." He stopped, giving her time to absorb what je had said till then.

After a while he continued, "The child disappeared and was never heard from for a while. Anyone who uttered her name was killed or exiled. People thought it was because she was a misfortune but that was not the case… it seems an oracle foretold that the child of the two specific races would be the true king and perfect destroyer of the world."

Achlysa tightened the grip on her staff. She had not heard it right, right? She must have heard it wrong. Her mind came up with possible explanations for this. Her face showed her confusion but not her panic. Bendra placed his hand on her shoulder and pulled her into his arms. He knew how she was feeling bit still could not understand why she did not know.

His mind went back to him questioning her in his office. He remembered how ride he was to her and he regretted it. Bendra wished he could change that but time only flowed in one direction. That was when it occurred to him, she did not have her memories. And if that was the case, then she could not remember anything or how to control her abilities.

Bendra assured her it was going to be okay. But, even he , was not sire himself if things were really going to be okay. After a while, Achlysa pulled back a'd asked him to continue. Bendra was not sure she was ready but she, more than anyone, deserved to know.

"This was foretold four thousand years ago. Achlysa was born a thousand years later. Which means…"

Which meant if she was Achlysa, she had lived for more than three thousand years. But she still looked young. She had not aged a day. At least, to her that is. Bendra looked at her ponder. She had the look he first had when he got the news. He did not expect to find what je was searching for in the capital library.

The contents of the books were not satisfactory but they were something. They were a start, a start to something big. And perhaps, at start to the end. He wished he could deliver this another way but he could not. He decided to get over the next part once and for all. He just hoped she was ready to hear it as well. She had done well this far, he hoped she would be able to hold it together after this.

"Rumors say that triggers have started heading home. Something about a culture festival that is always held once every two years to commemorate what they were taught. No one know what it is but many say that it was what caused the death and outrage of their Trigger King."

"What do you mean?"

"Records hide what happened but I stumbled on one that said that the only female trigger, their trigger king, left a pool of blood, pile of corpses and the destruction of cities after the attempt of her demise. She killed all. It did not latter if they were her own or not. All she wanted to see was blood. A part of the next page was missing but I could vaguely make out the first paragraph. It said she lost it after losing her child."

Bendra went on to say that no record of that particular trigger king having a mate or a child. It light have all been rumors and lies, yet it was still a possibility that it was not. Achlysa sat there and tried to remember anything she could on the final moments of little Millim's death. She was certain that the only one's who died were those who attacked her. And the one who could confirm that, was also death. If only the dead could talk.

"That is a lie." Bendra was surprised. He looked at her. " I did not kill anyone other than those who betrayed me. And the only man I left alive, was killed not too long ago. Someone id trying to cover up their crimes by using my name. Of course, everyone would believe anything bad said about a trigger. They never gave us a chance. We've been condemned since birth."

"Whoever it is, they must be highly influential. He must also have the powers to be able to get information about the triggers. Since this information is restricted to a few nobles and royalty. He must know a lot about triggers. More than we do."

"That might not be the case." Achlysa interrupted.

She went on to explain every detail about what had occurred to her. She also went further and explained her thoughts. The marks on her arms might have had something to do with it. Achlysa also mentioned the chest that was on her legs when she woke up. She removed it from her dimensional storage.

"That's the Crimson Chest of…"

He never got to finish. The chest opened itself. A bright light enveloped the room. Bendra and Achlysa fell forward. Something was sucked out of them and into the chest. Their bodies fell on the ground limp. And the spell Achlysa had casted, broke. As soon as it had swallowed a part of them, the chest hid itself.

Bendra and Achlysa looked like they were asleep but they weren't. And if they stayed too long like this…they could die.
