Chapter 23 - Diary 23: The Mage Origin

Going home from their mission, Min Soo suddenly fell ill from the journey. The relic is safely secured in Joey's hand. Min Soo's first mission ends up successful, even though it cost Min Soo's health. The young man is bedridden with a cold, the cold air that night must have gotten into Kim Min Soo's immunity.

David sits by his side, with cold meds in his hand the man stares at the weakened Idol in panic. Afraid that his sickness will get worse if he doesn't do something. The maids and butlers are on standby as David orders, staying next to Min Soo's side; the explorer feels terrible since his partner is now laying on the bed sick.

Min Soo shakes his head and tells the man that he's not at fault. David is insisting that it was his fault for letting Hansel chose that quest for beginner difficulty. As the Idol lets David tend his illness, he slowly lets the warmth of David's hand seeped into his skin. The explorer squeezes the wet towels on the nightstand as he put the towel on top of Min Soo's forehead.

Min Soo is shivering in a chill, he hides his whole body inside the warm fluffy blanket as David focuses his attention solely on the sick Idol. Joey's rewards as expected, too small for that much difficulty. Despite that, Min Soo glad that he could help Joey's happiness in some way. However, it tolls his health instead.

"Seriously, this is why I said this quest was a bad idea" David sighs. "You didn't listen to my advice, about how dangerous Nadhmill is".

"But at least I can help Joey in finding his happiness" Min Soo smiles.

Min Soo sighs in relief when he saw Joey's relief expression, but still, the thing remains ambiguous between them. The continuation from the lake somehow made the two of them awkward ever since. Min Soo would never have thought that he will receive such treatment from the explorer prince he admired.

His cheeks flushed, to receive such personal treatment from David himself. The maids and butler are helping David in tending Min Soo's illness. It's a simple fever but somehow it panics David to the point he tries to find the ingredients by himself. The sudden change in David's behavior confuses his maids and butlers.

It's only been a day since the mage fell ill, David decides to take the initiation in healing Min Soo's health. He summons the best doctor he knows in Arachnosia Country, which happens to be his longtime friend. Just after he summons his friend, after an hour he responds to his summon through the letter from David's butler.

A tall man in his twenties, perhaps mid-twenties comes in front of David's mansion. A young doctor with golden framed glasses, the circular shape of the glasses would remind everyone that the young man is indeed nerd-looking. His frilly auburn bangs cover his left eyes, despite that his looks represent the word charming.

The man bowed his head politely, the doctor with his white trench coat sleekly walk through David's butlers and maids. David crosses his arms impatiently, as the doctor approaches him at turtle speed. The doctor, with a nametag "Dr. Wilson Lenteroy" smiles politely to David whose Navy eyes focus on the man before him.

"Good evening Mr. David, may I help you with-".

"Spare the formalities, Dr. Wilson, it's about my partner Min Soo" David glares at the young doctor. "He suffers some abnormalities and is now lying on the bed".

Dr. Wilson seems to know what's going on in David's head, their exchanges of words are shorts but firm. However, Dr. Wilson never questions his short words; as if they know each other for a long time which is the case for the two longtime friends. The maid prepares Dr. Wilson's favorite tea, which is Earl Grey.

Dr. Wilson follows David from behind, entering a room at the far corner; Min Soo lays on the bed sickly. The young Idol is unaware that a person comes into his room, it is solid proof that Min Soo is genuinely ill. David explains what occurs the night before, with the specific chronology and stories of what happened.

His curiosity gets the best of him thus explaining Min Soo's ability to spellcasting without chanting the correct words. Surely, this explanation piques the doctor's interest. However, Dr. Wilson remains calm and told David to focus on Min Soo's whaling instead of worrying about other factors.

David nods worriedly as he lets Dr. Wilson examines Min Soo's body with his magic. Dr. Wilson is a Plantea user, thus he governs the power of nature in his hand. Not only that he's a doctor, but he's also proficient in support and adept at healing people. He lets out vines from the palm of his hand, the vines immediately engulf the Idol's body.

The plants can determine the Idol's current condition with his immunity system levels, thus making it easy for Dr. Wilson to do his practice. Dr. Wilson focuses his concentration on Min Soo's body, the vines seem to whisper something to the doctor's ears, making the doctor surprised.

"He overused his Mana, with the additional fever thanks to your late-night bathing session David" Dr. Wilson sighs. "Overusing mana can only mean one thing, immunity drop".

David gulps as he listens to Dr. Wilson's explanation that sounds like a lecture. Dr. Wilson adds another explanation that Mana has the same utility as stamina. When your stamina drops, automatically you would be exhausted and thus it will somehow weaken the user. Mana in this case weakens the mage immunity, thus easy to get sick.

There's also the fact that Min Soo is a beginner in magecraft, the man never touches any grimoires and spells other than what the Goddess of Love gave him.

"This man seems to be special though, his Mana flow is quite different than ours" Dr. Wilson inquires. "Is this person even comes from our world, David?".

The moment Dr. Wilson threw that question, David bit his tongue for summoning his proficient doctor friend. He would never have thought Wilson would realize Min Soo's origin.
