As the Duke's party exited the Noble District, they began to hear the galloping of horses from a distance.
"The carriages are finally here." Velion muttered, a smile peeking on his face like the sunlight at dawn.
No sooner than a minute, the first carriage in the parade rounded the corner of the road. It was followed by another, and another, until the road was clogged with nothing but carriages.
Rather than flagging one of the carriages to take them to the Thronham Palace, the three settled on using their feet. It was a request of the Duke who wanted some time to think for himself.
The two adjutants were a few meters behind the Duke. There's not much for them to talk about with the Duke. Hence, distancing themselves was the most comfortable arrangement in their journey.
