Kian had barely stepped out from his office and entered the lift when his phone buzzed. He pulled it out of his coat's inner pocket and saw a message from Rene.
"Sorry I won't be able to watch the match with you. Something important came up."
Kian wondered what could be so important. However, he retraced his steps and went back to his office. Eion had just finished sending reports and was about to leave when he saw Kian enter it.
"Forgot something?" he asked.
"Let's go to the gala," Kian replied.
Eion raised his eyebrows and said, "Girlfriend ditched you?"
"Something important came up," Kian repeated. Then taking out his tux he said with irritation, "She is not my girlfriend."
"She may not be your girlfriend," Eion muttered with concern, "but she definitely does influence your mood."
"Nonsense!" he exclaimed and walked into the inner cabin.
