But, as the human Patriarch told them, they could not be together for long. They had to be separated in order to live longer and secure the future of their Clans.
All this happened and was kept as a secret between the two of them. If any of their enemies found out about it, they would be in great danger.
After discussing it between both, they agreed to let the misunderstanding continue, so they could be shielded from supernatural beings and greedy humans.
And regarding the Flame recognizing two Masters, it should be handled with even more secrecy, but they should have a successor who knew the truth and tell it to the next leader, to know which of the following leaders will be the one to carry the mission.
Both the Supreme Leader and the Alpha Monarch could not have offspring, but they had a sibling who could have offspring, the niece of the leader and the nephew of the alpha, both were appointed as next leaders.
The council of elders of each clan had no opposition to it since they know that the mate of their leaders was in the enemy's clan, and without the other, they could not have a direct heir and heiress.
For a hundred years, although the Supreme Leader and the Alpha Monarch did not see each other, they still longed for each other but resolved to put all their time and attention into developing their Clan and grooming the next leader.
The niece and nephew of both were promising leaders, but apparently, the curse not only influenced the leaders but on the position of the Clan Leader itself. Both were destined to be the mates of the other. It was as if the position of Leader was only for that, to make an alliance of both clans.
But since both clans were still enemies, no one was imposing on them to look for their mate or to look for someone else.
300 more years passed. To fulfill the thousand-year cycle of the curse, the time came when both leaders would perish. Leaving the world alone with its ashes, but their successors became leaders stronger than them. Both inherited the Flame, the memories, and the destiny of the union of both clans.
A heavy burden, because despite being leaders, they could not have their own offspring. What they did was always have a sibling who can have offspring. The Branch family should always have two to three descendants to choose the next leader.
Since then, they have always upheld this tradition.
They recited it what was the history between the leaders of the Vampire Clan and the Lycan Clan in each generation. Both were the fated pair for each other.
Knowing the true love story between them, each leader makes an oath to the Flame, which is like a curse itself, "If I as Supreme Leader/ Alpha Monarch, am not the one to receive the burden of the mission, my successor will."
Each generation would say the same thing in front of the altar of the Flame that was built in a secret passageway in each leader's room.
And the Flame, that had formed a soul bond with the first leaders, agreed to make a blood bond with their successors, and sleep for hundreds of millennia.
The Flame subconsciously lent power to each generation of leaders. But it could only do so to one person. At the same time, it could give it to the mate too. It could only give its power when the previous leader died.
And each leader died after the thousand years, without seeing his or her predestined mate. Using that time to strengthen each clan and each leader, both clans became the most powerful.
Generation after generation, history was forgotten, but the diary of the first leaders was the most precious and valuable artifact of each leader, and they had to know the history, protect the Flame, and look for a way to find the descendant who should have the responsibility to unify the supernatural world and protect it.

A beautiful lady was laying next to a little girl. Telling her a story to sleep.
"Year after year, decade after decade, century after century, millennia after millennia; the same story went on in both clans until a hundred millennia had passed. And to this day, many things happened between then and now. But it did not get written in any record in the Clan's Chronicles." told the beautiful lady patiently, to the little girl.
"Mommy, that story is quite long, but it's kind of interesting." Said the little girl between six and seven years old, with red eyes and silver hair with red highlights.
"Hmm, yes, it is. But it's the true story of what happened exactly one hundred millennia ago." Answered a beautiful Lady, red eyes and silver hair.
"So, the first leaders, can they meet again and form a family in our time?"
'Giggles.'
"Yes, my child, they can, and you probably have a lot to do with it, but that will be when you grow up."
"It's okay Mommy, I'll help wherever I can. I hope the Flame can be friendly when I see it," Told the little girl as her eyes closed, until a few seconds later her breathing was even.
The beautiful Lady looked with complicated feelings in her eyes at her daughter and gave a sigh of sadness, "I hope you can be strong, my child, even though you are not my daughter but my niece.
It is your destiny, no successor could find, or be the one who must fight with the entire supernatural world for power.
You need to fight here and there; the Vampires have become more greedy than before. There are many who seek power using the successor as a puppet. I will do my best with the time I have left to protect you."
After several centuries of successors, a leader of the Vampire Clan, came to an agreement with the relative who had offspring, was to adopt one of her daughters as her own, to be the successor.
For some reason, the Supreme Leader of the Vampire Clan had to be female. Since then, no male descendants were born in the Branch Family.
