Chapter 7 - Plant-like Player

BANG!

Liam impulsively blasted a bullet instead of answering after he had realized the predicament he was in, alarmed at the arrival of a formidable foe.

But the creature instantly sprang before Liam could hit it, vanishing in the thick fog to avoid Liam's basic attack.

Liam clicked his tongue annoyingly.

If it wasn't because of the fixed attack speed that he wasn't used to yet, he could have hit the creature in that instance.

"You... need... to... chill... I... am... here... to... talk..."

The creature's voice came from different directions and was trailing off so he could scarcely hear it as if the creature was a ghost or mimicking a ghost-like voice at the very least to frighten him.

As one of the Agility Class Players who would deal most of the damage in raids and guild wars, creating distance was Liam's priority so he didn't think twice about firing at the creature.

Standing nearby him was as good as threatening him, after all.

"If I may ask, this fog... is this your battle skill?" Liam asked solemnly.

Liam glanced side by side, attempting to perceive the creature with his improved senses but it is to no avail.

"You... answer... my... question... first..."

After the creature answered with a thrilling ghost-like voice, Liam ruminates about the right response to avoid a fight.

"If I answer your question, do you mind excusing this esteemed gentleman from your hunts?" He cautiously probed for more information instead of being reckless.

"Ha... ha... ha... ha... That... depends... on... your... answer..."

Liam clicked his tongue, annoyed by the creature's haughty behavior but still managed to behave with the utmost propriety in front of it.

Judging from the creature's question, it was concerned about the holy fire he demonstrated to intimidate other players earlier.

It seemed the plant-like player tailed him, wondering if he truly has the holy fire affinity or not for an unknown reason.

"If I may ask, you thought the holy fire earlier was a mere illusion like this fog of yours, isn't it? I'm telling you now, it's the real thing," Liam sat on the floor and intricately touched the grass carpet with his left hand as he irritably replied with another question.

As soon as his hand touched the ground, his eyeballs shone literally for a fraction of a second and his pupils vanished in that split second, covered by a short blueish-white glow like the avatar state in one of the famous cartoons on Earth.

[Psychometry activated]

"Stop... beating... around... the... bush..."

The irritation became evident in the ghost-like voice of the plant-like creature.

"Pardon my rudeness but you're in no position to demand answers, human bulbasaur. You get off on the wrong foot by challenging this esteemed gentleman."

Liam cracked a sinister grin in contrast with his above decent demeanor as he imperceptibly aimed the handgun in his right hand at 2 o'clock slightly above one of the branches as if he could see what's beyond the thick fog.

"Hasta la vista, baby!" Liam announced with his inner terminator voice.

BANG!

"Ko... kuoh!!!"

The irrepressible scream of pain came out from the plant-like player as loud as a horn, pervading the silent wilderness.

Simultaneously, a mechanical voice reverberated in Liam's head, notifying him of the critical hit like in online games if there was an interesting thing that had occurred by chance or skill.

[Death Shot!!!]

'Ohhh, I didn't expect that. That rubbed salt on the wound for him,' Liam nonchalantly thought.

Instantly, the extensive fog subsided, revealing the plant-like player who crashed on the floor with an incomplete health bar after being shot in the head.

Clearly, it didn't expect Liam's sneak attack.

Liam wasn't familiar with the player's body composition but he could tell from its body language that it was extremely stunned because he had seen it despite the thick fog.

About 25% were reduced instantaneously to the plant-like player's health points, terrifying the player because of how tremendous the basic attack's damage was in its health bar.

Since Liam had 13 attack damage, the critical hit became 26 attack damage, 200% more or twofold because of 's effect.

In light of that fact, armor played a significant role to calculate the damage the player had received.

If the damages weren't 'true damage' or there were no armor penetration effects from Liam's equipment or battle skills, whether it was spell damage or physical damage from skill or basic attack, the other player's armor would reduce to the damage it received depending on the receiver's armor value.

If the other player's armor value was equivalent to 6 damage deduction and the player's health points were equivalent to 80 like in Liam's health points, he could safely assume that the damage his opponent took from the critical shot was reduced to 20, which was 25% of 80 health points.

"That's what you begat from tailing me, human bulbasaur," Liam threateningly expressed, glaring at the player menacingly while aiming again.

However, the creature hurriedly sprang furthermore, dangling to the vines like Tarzan but this time, in order to escape.

"That's right! I'm gonna fry you next time, aloe vera freak!" Liam giggled helplessly as the plant-like player fled, scared half to death because of Liam's unexpected damage output.

Liam's face unconsciously broke out into a burst of elated laughter from the sheer thrill of that brief battle.

The plant-like creature or player must have thought that Liam's basic attack damage was that high every time to flee as fast as a lightning bolt, pissing in its grassy pants.

It could attempt to put up a fight since everyone has identical stats at the beginning but it didn't.

Maybe it doesn't possess the characteristics to do so.

In terms of the player's fog-like illusion battle skill, it had a terrifying potential that could cause panic because of its effect of completely dulling the foe's senses, especially if used at the right time as one would expect.

However, Liam had seen which branch it landed by simply utilizing the skill, peering a bit into the past, and had seen the spectral presentation of what had transpired in their location with a limit of a certain radius by touching the floor.

He didn't plan to engage but he could not tolerate other people, whatever race, trying to frighten him like that.

He would lay low if he had to, but once he found a chance, he would definitely dominate them with his supremacy.

A tolerable headache had been felt because of that short duration usage of the skill.

If peering into the past caused him a noticeable side effect, Liam could not imagine how massive the consequence if he peered deeper into the past events.

The system was correct!

He must use the fearsome ability wisely, or else it might become the cause of his death.

Liam abruptly shifted his unwavering attention towards the deeper part of the wilderness, imagining the appearances of the monsters he had read moments ago that he would face now once he took a step in the yellow line on the grass floor.

"Now... let's see what do we have here..."

[You've entered a Yellow Zone]
