"I am telling you Dean, I had no idea of what was troubling the school. If I did, I would have volunteered but the way those common watchmen behaved, it hurt my pride!" Yes, he was exaggerating but he had to, as part of his character.
Diana Yard reminded, "They are the very 'common watchmen' you were found drinking that day." Rob showed his teeth trying to cover up when she shushed him. "Where were you off to anyway? With your suitcase and belongings you seemed to be going for a holiday but I didn't receive a letter from you about such a leave."
Now, he was really trapped. He couldn't answer he was running away after getting the locket back.
"What type of necklace was lost?" He behaved concerned, ultimately diverting the topic.
The Dean sighed as if a burden was placed on her. "The girl claims it to be a black diamond necklace with a red gem inside. I don't understand why these students wear such expensive things if they can't keep them under proper custody. If by evening we don't get a clue of it, her family will be informed."
Black diamond.
Black diamond!
"Who is that.." Crazy! "girl, I could help her in searching."
At the same time, he was wondering what stupid girl possessed such treasures in schools. If he could get hold of it, he might earn enough for a year to pass by.
"Sweety Roulette."
The moment her name was pronounced, everything clicked in to place. Instinctively, Rob clutched his heart protectively.
"Mr. Wilson? Are you doing fine?" Of course the way he acted came out like he was having a heart attack.
"I-I need some air. Close spaces.. constrict me."
Dean allowed him to leave, "Attend your classes after you rest. And we are not done talking of your attempted disappearance today."
Cautiously nodding with a forced smile, he hurried out of Dean's cabin rushing to the nearest loo.
Ensuring there was no one present in the entire washroom, he took out his layers of clothes. A sleeveless jacket, followed by his shirt which showed his bare torso and the carefully plastered left chest. Taking out the sticky substance from his body, he saw the locket filled around loads of cotton balls.
It was a precaution to not let Tyler hear on to him.
He was supposed to open it after getting to a hotel but now it was not possible to leave very easily. Covering the locket in cotton balls, he muttered lowly.
"Black diamond my foot." She was ensuring the school is serious in finding his locket so that she will take it back.
Furious he wanted to punch that fat, smart girl for putting him in this scenario. "All this time, she was fooling the school for getting back this." He pointedly watched the cotton stuffed spy stone which he wanted more than anything to crush and settle it out once and for all.
"You shouldn't have done that. What will happen when Dean hears the truth?!" Sweety was worried of lying about the locket's characteristics.
Nishi gave her the look who knew nothing of how world worked, "If I hadn't lied of it then do you think these slow mongers would work their asses up?"
"But what will you say when we get the locket? Its a rock like thing, almost a rock. Not a diamond!" Sweety flailed her arms in desperation to solve the minor- No, major issue with the authorities.
"By evening if they don't get the locket, police will be called. Along with your parents." Nishi added as a final put to give the girl an attack.
"WHAT?!" She shrieked in answer turning the wobbly Nishi guilty for putting on the act.
Sweety put forth her hands to grab the idiot's neck who troubled her more than help her, yet she cursed inwardly and moved her hands back midway.
"Where are you sprinting off too? Sweety? Where are you going?"
"Far from you," she answered. "And to solve this problem."
Nishi was puffing from running towards her neighbor, keeping up with her fast strides. "Wait up!... I'll die... if you make me run.... like that!" Every pause came with a huff.
"I didn't say you to follow me!" Sweety called back, still four steps ahead from Nishi.
"Let them search! What if they found it before evening?" Nishi shouted, in the end bending down to catch her breath.
Sweety stopped and turned, making sure the girl understood the gravity of the situation. "You knew the consequences were dire yet you went through those methods. What did you imagine, my parents would be happy knowing that?"
It was clear she was angry with the stunt Nishi pulled. Though risky, Sweety never wanted to get the locket back like this. It was better to leave it alone.
"I am withdrawing the complaint." She declared, turning from Nishi and then for the Dean's office.
On her way to cross over the series of doors, she was about to go past the guest lounge located near Dean's office which was used primarily for visitors. Something caught her eye, making her snap towards the coffee table.
Walking closer so as not to be mistaken, she saw her locket placed unharmed like the keeper wanted her to see it.
It was uncertain how long was she staring at her then lost ornament which was suddenly routed in front of her because the school was after the supposed thief. Thief. Could it be the same guy who sneaked into girls' hostel that day?
"Sweety Roulette." She turned on instinct hearing his voice, knowing she heard it before. Couple of times but this one sounded harsh underneath.
"Mr. Wilson." Sweety greeted.
"You had your necklace the entire time but the school is running crazy to find your EXPENSIVE locket." Mr. Wilson imposed the blame on her like she made all this happen. It was true at some extent though.
"I... I came to take back the complaint." She started but was interrupted from his sudden intrusion in her privacy. She was already standing at the edge of coffee table leaving no place to shift to.
Rob felt her stiffen which added to his anger for her. "Next time I find you interrupting my good time it will not end up good for you."
Sweety merely watched the man who strode away from the corridor leaving her agape after him. What did he mean exactly?
The tension was stabilized in the school where it was difficult to convince the Dean that the said locket was a 'Black Diamond' stone yet it worked due to lack of knowledge of coming to see one.
Still, the incident brought another wave in Sweety's life where she received gazes more prominent than ever. The way they were watching her made her seem like a walking gold treasure.
Girls in the hostel were curious as well, gathering up in her room asking, 'We heard you found your lost locket.'
'Where is it?'
'Will you show us how a black diamond stone looks?!'
"Out! Out of my room or I'll post all your names as supposed thieves of this school!" That was the first time Sweety was grateful for Kirell as her roommate. Since that day, not a single girl was found wandering close to their room.
As much she helped her put down the chaos she was also becoming irritated. Turning to her Kirell questioned, "Will you say something ever or plan to stay a silent rock too?"
Rob who was making some questions, heard that and replied alone, "This stone can listen all." Resuming his work, he waited for another opportunity to get his thing back and settle it out with Tyler. The faster, the better.
