Chapter 3 - My locket

Since then, Sweety wore the locket around her neck at all times, claiming it as a blessing from Bappa. "Why don't you ask your father if he bought it for you? Maybe someone must have left it here." Sonia suggested the possibility.

"If anyone lost it here, he or she can come and get it back. Till then I'll keep it safe." Sweety smiled to her friend's worries.

That night after party and after helping Mom in tidying the house, Sweety sat on her bed holding the locket. Admiring it. The locket had a rough texture as if made from a rock. As she was rubbing the kite shaped rock, she didn't understand how but a red light appeared from its core.

In shock, Sweety let go of the thing which fell on the mattress. She thought she invoked something because the glow was not present before. It was a dark blue rock seconds ago. "W-What just happened?" She asked expecting a reply.

Then added to her own consolation, "Who are you asking? The walls?" Rolling her eyes to her stupidity, she carefully took hold of the thing in her palm.

"The light is still glowing. Why?" This time she stared at Bappa's statue thinking, he will come in front of her to answer why.

She waited for a long time, speaking a lot of things but never did her sight lose the rock. She tried rubbing again on the surface, but the red thing glowed like a persistent new fellow who will never go.

"I don't know who you belong to but I'll keep you safe until that person comes for you." She said to the locket. Widening the chain out, she wore it looking down at the rock fitting perfectly on her chest.

"I wanted to buy a unique locket just like you but never got the chance. You must be a lucky one for me."

"Sweety! Come to bed fast!"

"Yes Papa!" Hurrying up to her father's command, she arranged her mattress for the night.

It was two days since Rob lost the chain. His heart fell at the thought but that was covered up with his video games. He did not leave his house for last two days, except for opening the door for pizza. Which was of course delivered by Mukh, his most prized man.

"You should not make enemies and make them work for you. They can poison your food." Mukh said haughtily as he delivered another pizza combos at his door.

Thinking Rob commented, "I'll remember that." Mukh got so confused with the reply-less reply, he went back scratching his head if he demented or complimented the guy. Not that he actually poisoned the pizzas but he tried escaping the penniless job yet it seemed to have backfired on him as he himself disclosed what his intentions were. Cursing himself and hoping Rob didn't sue him for murderous intents, he stomped out of the skeptical street, into the busy life and highways.

Rob's stay in the bunker didn't consist of many things except for his electronics, clothes and food. What else can a man ask for? Ah, occasional flings of course. Without their Dads especially. He remembered once a girl's father brought a gun to shoot him dead because he helped pass her daughter a towel during shower.

The scenario was so bizarre, the girl herself avoided eye-contact with him when he didn't even see anything! Oh, the frantics!

Just when he opened up the squares to take a triangle from circles, his door banged. Annoyed at his poky doorman, he put the piece back attending it, "You must know I have cameras installed on every place of this property and if you- You?"

Instead of Mukh, it was an unexpected fellow he really never expected to meet. More so, for he looted him once. Another specialty apart from being very good with computers, he never forgot faces. Especially from whom he stole. There was a need of back up in case they showed up, aye?

Instantly, his collars were grabbed up by the intruder who pushed in to demand repayment. "You..." Punch on his face, then another. "This is for pretending to be my friend. And this, for stealing my hard drives. My computer..." The list went on along with punches until Rob freed himself in difficulty.

"The fuck, man? You know, every camera here is pointing you as the culprit and me the victim."

"The nastiness is still there, I see. I was right, you lost your property." Tyler retorted in confidence.

Rob opened his mouth for another comeback when he jerked awkwardly, his broken nose comically added the part too well. "How do you know?" Tyler and Rob used to be friends until Rob showed him the part of career which required to be left off. They knew Rob believed in owning only one thing as his own. The rock chain, his mother left behind. Which was lost by him now.

"I know things about you no one knows. Not even you know who you are, what harm you do. You know what is the worst part, I wish I hadn't known you ever. You wanted my things, you could have just asked."

Rob shrugged, "Robber suits better than beggar." The two men stared level-headed, in stance to fight, if caused. Rob was prepared now, if he had to impart some blows on him he won't back down.

"How did you find me?" He questioned the thing weighing heavily on his mind. For years, he watched his trail and suddenly a man comes up to an exactly correct address, how the bloody hell could it be possible? Unless...

"That watchman told you? Where's he, hm? I am going to kill him today."

"Another dead body to your list? Sure go ahead. If you can install cameras I can be wired too." Tyler showed his suit out to emphasize the recording going on.

Rob got alert, breathing out and thinking of his next move.

"Don't think a lot. I am not here to collect my things. My handiwork will remind you of me for awhile."

"If I take hold of that recorder and you then nothing goes out, right?" He was intent on clearing the evidences away.

Smirking Tyler commented, "One move to harm me and my girlfriend will send your location to the police. In fact, she is just few steps away from them. Still wanna try?"

He did not want to believe the man but the confident and winning look from him made that stealing will, rest away.

"Okay. What do you want?" That was the ultimate step a culprit can try. Negotiate. Hands behind his back, Rob stood like a student caught waiting to hear what he had to do.
