"I was going to tell Brielle Jenna's story. I think that Brielle has a point. If I want her to keep her as a worker, she does need to understand the trainee." Asurlon took a sip of the tea and bites into the apple fiddler. "So, Jenna witnessed her whole family massacred. Her mother, father and her baby brother. They were attacked by a rogue."
"A rogue? But I thought that we kept tabs on all the rogues?" Brielle looks confused.
"This is a different type of rogue. It is not a werewolf but a vampire that decided to go feral. He was not a target that was being closely followed. He flew under the radar of monitoring. The reason I know this is because I was the one that got the hunt order for him. A vampire that attacks hunters and drains their blood… yeah, you know what happens on those hunts." Leo leaned against his desk.
"Brielle, Jenna witnessed her family being drained of their blood from the panic room. They only had enough time to shove her in the room. Not even the baby was spared. I got the distress call, and Leo was the closest to the area. You can tell the rest." Asurlon finishes off the apple fitter and sips on the tea.
Sighing, Leo runs his hand through his hair. "I went straight there from the hunt I had just finished. I thought that maybe I had lost a target, but that was not the case. I got to the house, and the pungent metallic scent of blood filled the air. I found the family in the living room. The vampire was still drinking Jenna's mother's blood. He didn't seem to sense me coming. Pulling out my sword, I speared him square in the heart. That fucker turned and looked me in the eye, saying, 'That was well worth being killed over.' While I was checking the bodies, I found that Jenna's mother had a slight pulse still I lifted her up, and she asked me for the blade under the couch. I should've thought about it before I got it out and handed it to her, but I was in shock at the sight that I was seeing. Well, She told me how to open the hidden area and asked me to take care of her daughter before she stabbed the knife through her heart. She collapsed, but her hands started to turn to dust. She knew that she was transforming, and she decided to end her own life." Leo drinks his coffee. "I opened the panic room, and inside I found Jenna, but she was already unconscious at that point. When she first started here, you were the one that she seemed to be bonding with. She didn't know that I was the one that saved her, but Asurlon said that her family had all passed from the attack."
"It was quite upsetting to see a child so young lose her parents in an unforeseen accident. When she came here at first, she was an empty husk. We had a restoration crew go to the house and clear everything from top to bottom so that when Jenna is ready to go back to her family home that she can." Asurlon picked out the sandwich and took a bite.
"We had a psychiatric elevation done on Jenna, and it seems that she blocked out a lot of the attack. She doesn't remember me taking her away from the house. That is evident in the way she talks back to me. One day those memories will come back, and we need someone that will be able to handle her when she realizes exactly what happened. You have gone through something similar as did Will. I was not there when my parents were murdered, but I know what it is like to lose your loved ones." Leo shrugged and finished off his coffee before throwing the cup in the trash.
"Wow, that was a lot to happen all at once. I am glad that you do not mind telling me, and I think that I agree with you on the fact that she will regain her memories. I will keep this all in my mind. Where does she stay if she is not using her family house?" Brielle looks between the two waiting for an answer. She watches as Asurlon and Leo share a look. "No, you mean that she stays here at headquarters??"
"There was nowhere else that I could get her to go and feel safe. It was when she started training with you that it made a difference. So now you understand why I tried pairing you two up. I know that there is a unit that is up for sale in the apartment that you live in…" Asurlon doesn't get the opportunity to finish what he was going to say.
"Okay, I will see if I can get her to agree. I know that unit that is going up for sale. I will look into acquiring it and charge it to the hunter account." Brielle breathed out a sigh in relief.
"That would be most usefully. If you can think of anything to place in the unit, buy it as well. I want that girl out of this building. She needs to be out in the world and not hidden away here. She rarely goes outside anymore. Do you know what that does to a human?" Leo shook his head.
"Yeah, I have gone through that as well. I will ask her to come over to my place tonight, and that way, we can take a look at the place tomorrow. Leo, you don't have a hunt tonight; help me bring these boxes to my apartment. It would be better if you bring them to me. I will go, eat lunch and make an appointment to view the apartment first thing in the morning. I won't be in the building at all." Brielle carries the bag and leaves the room before the door closes; she pops her head back in, "Leo bring them to my place at five." She disappears and walks back to her office.
After being up all day, Ketan glared at the sun that was still beating down on him harshly. He was in the final location. Buying the final ticket, he left the stand and went down the alley, then disappeared back into his room. He collapsed on the bed. 'Fuck, I need a drink.' His throat started burning but using the magic, so many times burnt him out.
Kitty popped into the room. "Thank you for doing that for me." She cut her wrist and gave Ketan a few drops of her blood before he pulled her hand and bites into the mark. After a few gulps, Kitty pulled her hand away and left him on the bed.
Feeling the deliciously sweet blood drip into his mouth, he grabbed the source and drank two deep gulps before licking the bite marks away. He didn't pay any attention as she left, and he got up and went to the kitchen. Grabbing a bag of blood, he ripped a hole in the package before downing all the blood in the bag before grabbing another one.
Sylvie came into the kitchen silently watching her twin. "You are a sucker for punishment. Kitsune was here, and you took her blood, but you are dying of thirst still. Why not get a life partner for yourself? Then you wouldn't have to suffer as much."
Ketan chugged the second package and grabbed a third before slamming the door to the fridge shut. Glaring at Sylvie, he finished off the third bag and walked up to Sylvie. "I do not get why you want to meet your end so soon. I refuse to find a partner. I will not take back what is mine. You cannot make me." He punched the wall while glaring into Sylvie's eyes.
"You will one day. I can tell you that there is nothing that can be done about this. I have lived a long enough life. Just take it all from me." Sylvie stabs her wrist with a blade.
"You fucking fool!!!" Ketan pulls the blade out and seals the wound while licking the blood away. The power he felt from his sister's blood made him jump away in horror. He glared at her before disappearing from her sight.
"Ahriman, you can't fight this forever." Sylvie knew that he could hear her clearly.
~And you, Ambrosia, have no choice in when I take back what is mine. I won't be home for a while since you are in this mood. I don't want to see or hear from you for the time being.~ Ketan cuts the mind link and hides the trail that would lead her to him. He arrived in the woods in a jungle far away on an island. He looked up before climbing the stairs up to his run-away house. After getting inside, he collapses on the bed with a sigh. 'Why must everyone go against what I want?'
