Jenna looked at the menu intently and was staring at the desserts. "Ugh! I just can't choose peach cobbler or apple crumble pie."
"Just get both. If you have leftovers, that will make it easier for tomorrow." Brielle looks at the screen and watches Jenna and both before taking the laptop back. She orders herself a bacon cheddar burger with extra cheese, bacon and pickles. Then sweet potato fries, deep-fried pickles, and an extra-large strawberry milkshake. Next, she scrolls to the desserts and adds an apple pie, a container of cheesecake ice cream, an entire strawberry cheesecake, and brownies. Next, she scrolls down and adds some root beer floats and cream soda coolers. Finally, she selects two dozen root beer cans of soda. Hitting the place order button, she places the laptop down. "How old is your phone? If it is out of date, you should upgrade."
Jenna pulls out her older phone and shakes her head. "I am not quite ready to upgrade yet. This is the last gift that I received from my parents." She looks at the computer screen and watches as a little car pops up on the map. "Whoa! That is so cool."
Laughing, Brielle pats Jenna on the head. "I understand; I will not push this matter. By the way, you can take my bed. I will sleep on the couch. I usually pass out on the couch, so it is not something that you can fight me on. As a matter of fact, it makes it so much easier since I can know who is coming. The apartment is not under Brielle but Olivia. It was for work, so I didn't fight it."
"Olivia?? That is nowhere near your name, but if it is for work, that it must be because it should not be traced back to your name with being a hunter that actually makes more sense." Jenna thinks and looks at Brielle. "Since you will not say no, I will take the bed. Thank you, Brielle."
"There is no need to thank me." Brielle gets up and pulls out some pyjamas, and places them on the armrest of the couch. "Here you go. If you want to take a quick shower in the bathroom, it's the first door on the right, and the door across from that is the bedroom. I will let you know when the food arrives." She watches as Jenna gets up and leaves her sight. Waiting until she hears the water running, Brielle goes to the kitchen and starts dry heaving in the sink until she pukes up stomach acid. Carefully Brielle wipes her mouth then runs some water down the sink. She grabs a water bottle, swishes the water in her mouth and spits it out in the sink. 'That fucking prick after everything that happened he thinks he can just waltz back into my life? Well, no fucking way. Have fun trying to find me... fucker.'
Ketan walked into the forest and started hunting a wild cat in the trees. He could hear its heart beating, licking his lips, he sneaked up on it. Ketan was now in the same tree, watching it eat the food that it stored up in the tree. As the wild cat finishes its meal, Ketan pops next to it and pushes it off the branch. He watches as it turns and lands on its feet, growling up at him. He jumps down, and the two begin to circle each other. Finally tired of the cat and mouse game, Ketan pounces on the wild cat's back. He sinks his fangs into the neck, drinking the blood heavily. When the fight finishes from the cat and its life demises, Ketan looks out in the forest, eyes glowing. 'What am I going to do? I have been feeding too often, and the animals only sustain me for a short while.'
~Ketan, please come home. I am sorry. I admit that I was wrong.~ Sylvie's voice rings in his mind only because the connection opened.
~Why? So you can continue to hound me about choosing a partner, or is it that you want me to end your life again? Sylvie, you know that is something that I will not do, and you mean the world to me as my sister. So I do not want to hear a single mention of it when I get back, or else I will leave home for a few years while keeping the connection closed.~ Ketan sighs out loud and hears another animal in the forest, but his thirst stops bothering him.
~Come home, please. I will not mention it again for a while.~ Sylvie looks at Emerson worriedly.
Emerson steps forward, pulling her into his arms. "It's okay. I know that you are only doing this for his benefit. He will come back soon."
Ketan closed his eyes, appeared next to the couple, and stared at them with his glowing red eyes. "I have returned. Remembered what you said." He grabbed a blood bag and went to his room, slamming the door without listening to the reply. Tearing the package open, he quickly drinks the blood and looks in the mirror. Touching his reflection, he glares at the glowing eyes and wills them to stop. Opening his eyes, he sees himself haggard and torn. 'Fuck, I should just get some sleep. When was the last time I took a break? I worked for a while getting all of Kitty's flights dealt with.' Laying down on his bed, his eyes close, and he drifts off to a silent slumber.
Brielle buzzes the driver up, opens the door, accepts the food, and hands the guy a ten-dollar tip. "Thank you for bringing the feast to my apartment." She carries the bags to the kitchen, then goes back for the drink tray and another bag.
"No problem, madame. Enjoy your meal, and thank you for your order!" The young male bows and takes off with his tip, skipping down the hallway.
Brielle closed the door, locks it, then goes to the counter. She quickly sorted out all the packages and moved everything to the living room coffee table, spreading all the food out.
Jenna walks out with her hair soaking wet and sniffs the air. "That smells absolutely divine."
Brielle walked up to her and dried her hair. "And you can eat all that you want. You should dry your hair properly, or else you will get sick." Tossing the towel on the chair, she leads Jenna towards the feast and picks up an apple crumble dessert. She flicks the remote at the television, opens the movie file, and hands the remote over to Jenna. "Choose whatever you want. If there is something that you want to watch, but I don't have it, well, we can just buy it."
After having her hair dried, she happily skips and looks at the food. She watches Brielle before taking the remote and starts flipping through the movies. "Don't you think we should eat the real food first?"
"Fuck that shit. Eat it in whatever order you want. Dessert is best when it is piping hot!" To prove her point, she scoops a bit on the spoon with some ice cream and holds it in front of Jenna.
Taking the bite, she sighs in pleasure. "I get what you mean." Stopping on a romance movie, Jenna's eyes sparkle in delight. "I didn't think this would be your type of movie?"
"Hmmm?" Brielle looks at the screen and smiles, "I love a variety of movies. Nothing better than watching people fall in love." Taking the remote, she clicks play and sits back, eating the dessert happily. Looking at her new phone, she opens the text message.
~I might have narrowed it down, but I am still a bit uncertain. How are you doing, and how is the brat?~ Leo sent her a message while she was grabbing the food.
~First of all, Jenna is my trainee. Second, our food just arrived, so we are eating and watching a movie. Third, I am glad that there is a clue for you. Maybe then you won't be such a prick? It is so unlike you to be uncertain of something.~ Brielle chuckles at her reply and waits.
~Yeah, yeah. You know what I meant. She is, for the most part, a good kid, but you saw how she treats me. So disrespectful. There are fake names, so I am trying to narrow them down, and I was able to hack into the security cameras to see where tickets were bought!~
~Good luck with that.~ Turning her phone upside down and polishes off the apple crumble with ice cream. She then picks up a deep-fried pickle, dips it into a special sauce, and enjoys the flavour. She glances over at Jenna, who was engrossed in the movie while eating the peach cobbler and ice cream. Looking up at the screen, the couple ran through an alleyway, and they stopped for a deep sweet kiss. 'Why can't romance be like this movie?'
Finishing off the peach cobbler, Jenna chows down on her burger then sits back. She looks at the screen and feels her eyes begin to droop as she nods off.
"Why don't you get some rest? The movie can be continued in the morning." Brielle paused the movie and helps Jenna up, and watches as the girl stumbles on her way to the bedroom. Brielle sighs once the door is closed and turns off the television before cleaning up the leftovers. Happily placing everything in the fridge and freezer. Once she was done, she laid down on the couch and stared at the ceiling until sleep took its hold on her.
