Tomas was found by Gavril himself. Actually, it was Tomas who found Gavril and not the other way around. According to Gavril, Tomas learned about him from other descendants. Tomas is a tall scrawny boy who can breathe in the water. Tomas was a mailman that was frequently bullied in their neighborhood and even though he has a witch's blood running through his veins, his gift is useless against the humans who were bullying him. He cannot throw a punch to protect himself or even run fast to escape them. He doesn't have family or friends. He doesn't like his job as well so he searched for Gavril and asked him to take him to Astraea instead.
Gavril talked about it to the elders and agreed that they could take Tomas in since it was what the purpose of Astraea was. To take in descendants who don't want to live with humans anymore or are not confident to protect themselves. And they saw Tomas be one of them.
