Brylee took out a bowl covered with plastic wrap from the refrigerator. She smiled when she saw the mixture upon removing the plastic wrap. She took out a fine-mesh strainer and then strained the custard base. After straining the mixture, she poured it onto a mold that she placed inside a bigger baking dish that has high sides.
She placed the dish on the middle of the rack of the oven and then poured hot water into the dish until it came two-thirds of the way up the sides of the mold. She closed the oven and baked the custard.
While waiting, she took off her apron and then walked to the side of the kitchen counter. She watched as the kitchen staff went around the kitchen doing their own stuff.
The noise inside the kitchen is like music to her ears. The sizzle sounds and bubbling sounds. The sound of the knife landing on the wooden cutting board. The sound of the utensils. The voices asking for their orders and whatnot.
