Chapter 51 - Awakening

I'm supposed to get the role of a lieutenant and I plan to work hard just the same and become stronger." Mila opened her eyes and looked to see Joeys eyes were filled with water.

"Hey, kid are you alright?"

"What? I'm not crying... Ok, maybe a little. This doesn't count, it caught me off guard."

Puchi!

Joey looked at Mila and saw her cracking up laughing. "I'm flattered but don't waste your tears on spilt milk we should be celebrating. We're a family" Mila cheered as she held up a glass of wine.

"I'm sorry your right, to a new family," He said holding his glass of orange juice. They finished their food in high spirits.

"Hey, why don't you have a taste of this? It's good" Mila offered as she held her glass of wine.

"Am I allowed to drink this?" Joey asked. Mila said nothing but continued holding the drink temptingly in front of his face. He finally gave in but and took the glass from her.

He took a sip of it and he felt the burning hot liquid slid down his throat and broke out into a fit of coughs.

"Ahaha, I guess your too young to appreciate fine wine" Mila laughed, they went on to finish their food. The sun started to set signalling the end of the day.

"It's about that time kid, we should go home," Mila said as she paid for the food.

"Are you gonna help me start my cultivation?" Joey asked eagerly.

"Yes, but I still think you don't realize what you're getting yourself into. You at least seem to have a good worth ethic going for you."

They both left the restaurant and got in another taxi. Joey wasn't sure where he was going but he trusted Mila. They drove for about 1 hour straight when they finally came upon a building on an old dirt road.

"Is this the house you were talking about?" Joey asked. It looked more like an abandoned warehouse than anything else. You can leave if your afraid, this is what I like to call the base of operations.

Joey never argued as they both walked into the old dilapidated building. As they entered the building there wasn't much in the building. There were old types of machinery that stopped working.

There was also a creeky rocking chair along with a few sofas and a TV on a small table.

"Alright, let's go" Mila walked into the warehouse and started looking for something."What are we going exactly?"

"You sit over there, we don't have time to waste," she said pointing to the ground. Joey did as she said and sat on the ground while she continued to look for something. Joey didn't know why she had so much trouble finding something I the

Aha! found it!" Mila shouted as she held the object up in the air. They were large thick chains the size of a baby's arm. She walked over to him with the chains.

"Mila, what are you" Before Joey could say another word his wrist was chained onto the wall. He tried to struggle but the chains only became heavier.

"What the hell is this?" Joey asked with the weight on his hand unbearable."This is something I earned from an Afterlife match, cool right?".

"I can tell what it is but why?"

"You said you wanted to start your cultivation path, that is what I'm doing," she said as she pulled out a first aid kit and placed it beside them. "I'm going to need you to not hate me after I do this ok? I'm basically trying to force your body to do something it might not want to. It all depends on how your body reacts."

"I understand, I'm ready"

"Good, now let's start." Mila placed her hand on Joey's chest, then closed her eyes and said "on the count of three".

"1..."

"3!" As Mila shouted a wave of energy of ghost-like energy came from his body and forcefully started pouring into Joey's body. It was a pleasant feeling at first but it quickly turned sour.

The amount of power his body could handle reached its limit and he felt like he was about to bursts any second.

"Arghh!" Joey started to scream as the power kept rushing his body and into his blood through his bones and into his body.

"Joey stop screaming! You have to use the power to break past your limits" Mila shouted. She kept pouring her energy into Joey's boy but he was only feeling pain.

She remembered that she warned him against it and he insisted, she sighed and kept pouring her energy into his body; which reciprocated into louder screams.

Joey howled as he felt the thick energy invading his body and didn't know what to do with it. He did not know how to move energy around his body or how to use it to awaken his limits.

The enormous energy continued to flood onto his bones, he started to try and absorb it but it only causes more pain. He clenched his teeth and focused his mind on the energy in his body and allowed into flow inside him.

He felt the intense energy touch upon something faint. Almost like a dam waiting to be pushed through. Before he could focus anymore on the faint feeling, he heaved up a mouthful that Mila took as a signal for her to stop.

"Dammit, you have to figure out how to do this yourself. You can't just expect it to happen by itself!" Mila shouted. "Stop laying around and do something! Do you want to die?"

"We will start again in 30 minutes, I don't know how to help you. Keep thinking about your sister, think of her safety and focus on that". Mila sat and waited for 30 minutes before she started again with awakening Joey's limits.

"Kid, are you ready?" Joey made a sorrowful whimper in reply. "I'll take that as a yes then" Mila then placed her hand on his chest and energy state pouring energy inside him like a river.
