Sina saw his expression like he was looking at a thousand ghosts, she was annoyed with him already.
"Why did the only competent butcher have to such a feeble-minded child?" She was fine with working by herself because butchering wasn't something that anyone could do and took real skill.
Anyone that would she would hire was either incompetent or just wanted to try and get closer to her or sometimes even confess their love on the first day.
She decided never to hire anyone ever again because the chances of her finding a female that did butchering was next to nothing.
But then she saw Joey, a kid who could do butchering was something that didn't even cross her mind.
But she could tell that he wasn't in the best shape, but it was only safe to assume that someone who was an orphan had to go through a lot.
She sighed helplessly as she put down her knife and walked over to Joey and held his hand and pulled out a roll of bandages.
"Ouch!" Joey shouted as he flinched in pain.
"Hold still you can't butcher anymore, I don't know what you're trying to prove but the day you get blood on my meat you fired" Sina delicately wrapped each of his hand and his finger all the way up to his wrist.
Sina tore the end of the bandages with her teeth and then looked.
Wham!
She smacked both of his cheeks and tears started to run on Joey's face out of his eyes.
She looked into his eyes that were a mixture of shock and dejection.
"Kid, I don't know what is going on with you and I really can't be bothered to ask but if you came to me for a job that means there is something that you haven't given up on yet, so stop looking so lost and think about why you came here in the first place."
When Joey heard this his eyes became much much clearer. The reason he came here—he had to provide for his sister.
But now she was in the hospital unconscious and the doctor wasn't helping her get any better.
"Do you know why you came here for a job?" Sina asked while squeezing his cheeks.
"Yesh"
"Then stop acting like an emo boi and get it done!" Sina pinched and stretched his cheeks and gave his face a bright red blush, she let go of his cheeks and tears streamed down his face.
Joey quickly wiped them away and said "Thank you I needed that."
"Don't thank me, I just don't wanna lose the only person I can work with" Sina dismissed him and went back to her station.
Joey took her remark to heart, but she naturally meant that there wasn't someone as young as him that could butcher sky beast and nothing more.
"Go and take the day off and go do something" Sina added dismissively.
Joey's face developed an odd look as Sina glared at him and said "What you need me to kick you out?"
Joey held his head down and blushed as he shamelessly asked "Sina can I borrow some money please".
Sina dropped everything she was doing and slammed her fist on the table
"Do I look like some sort of money machine? am I your mother? you expect me to lactate so you can suck nipples too?"
"No Ms Sina I was just-"
"Leave," Sina said with a deadpan tone.
"Yes mam, sorry mam" Joey lowered his head and started to put away his meat under the oppressive glare of Sina.
"Don't touch the meat, Just leave!" Joey didn't stand the ceremony and quickly left the shop.
Outside the shop, Joey sighed as he looked up into the sky as the sun's rays shone into his eyes.
He tried to relax and stared at the two other faint quiet and idyllic celestial bodies, the smaller one was what everyone was familiar with, the moon.
The latter was much larger and almost eclipsing the sun and had snow-white clouds that swirled incessantly like a never-ending hurricane, shrouded in mystery.
This planet was naturally called 9 skies and was visible around the clock and was almost like a second moon in the night.
It still remains a mystery how long ago it appeared but scientists were sworn to secrecy.
People grew used to the sight of the planet above their heads and would often not pay any mind to it, but never knew how dangerous it was.
The only reason Joey knew was because of his Uncle, but soon as Joey's mind thought of his uncle he unconsciously shook his head and started to walk around the city.
The buildings in the city were large and even larger ones could be seen in the distance, cars would drive by with roaring engines and the smell of gasoline and burnt rubber wafted throughout the air.
Joey was deciding what to do, he only had a basic idea of what he wanted to do but that was a start.
Getting stronger was the most obvious urgent thing he needed to think about, but thinking about it was easier than actually doing it.
The only training benjamin had was his occasional sparring with his uncle.
"Is the Sky Academy really accepting the winner?".
As Joey was walking down the street that he overheard two boys his talking about something that caught his ears and he eagerly walked over in their direction.
"Brother, did you just say Sky academy?" Joey asked politely, he didn't want to give off a bad impression.
"Who the hell is your brother?"
"Tch!, bum"
The two boys dismissed Joey like garbage and tore the poster in front down and walked away.
Joey was furious with the way they were acting but he couldn't do anything to them anyway.
Just about he was going to leave someone came and stapled another paper.
Joey felt sad that this was the only good form he has seen good luck but good luck nonetheless.
"Sir can you please tell me more about this" Joey asked.
The man inspected Joey from head to toe sizing up to him, then his expression turned into a look of contempt.
"haha brat what's it got to do with you?" Joey was furious with the blatant denigration that was taking place but he kept his frustration to himself.
"If sir would allow me a flier I would be grateful," Joey said dejectedly.
"Haha sure kid comes and joins, you win you have a chance to join sky academy and you can explore the riches on 9 skies, not like you will".
The man said as he threw a flier in the air and walked away laughing.
Joey was taken back by what he just said, who the hell would go to 9 skies for treasure?.
