The aftermath of the battle with the golem felt like a blur. No one expected to lose Ion and Jessica, no one even thought it was possible. Tim and Henry carried both Ion and Jessica back to the campsite where the bus was. The walk back was primarily silent, filled with solemn looks and soft sobs. Boss looked over Jen since she was out cold in his arms, but even he had to wonder what would have happened if they lost her as well. Would he have reacted like that?
He did not know, but what he did know was that they had lost two good people. One gave their life for the other, and the other put forth his all to defeat the foe in front of him. Boss wondered if there was some way for them to all have gotten out alive. Perhaps if they had everyone with them, but even then, that was just a what-if.
