Chereads / The apocalypse of another world / Chapter 35 - Day 29.5

Chapter 35 - Day 29.5

The battle probably lasted ten, maybe even twenty minutes. The Amazoness people were not stupid. Their numbers weren't infinite, but they did have a fair amount of people. So they decided to take a more defensive-offensive approach. Instead of just throwing themselves to the slaughter, they decided to rely on their Seed powers and other ranged attacks. Some threw out fireballs, and others threw out shards of ice and earth. This came along with arrows and spear throw. Don and Rose were completely on the defensive. They could not counterattack since they had to deal with all of the projectiles. Beads of sweat were already running along Rose's face. Even if she was a trained killer, it seemed she wasn't used to something like this. Don could see this and knew they needed to do something quickly.

"Rose, I'll defend us. I want you to focus on locating the one locking down our weapons." Don would remark while cutting down a shard of ice with his Tonto. Rose's brow rose. "Defend against all of this?" Rose asked while cutting down a ball of fire. "Yeah. Otherwise, we will die." Don would remark. Even if Rose did fall, he wasn't sure he would be able to retaliate. He did think about using his Seed, but the last time he did, it didn't come out like when he fought against Ion. In addition to that, their room of mobility was quite small. So there wasn't room to run around in like when he dealt with the barrage of bullets from the soldiers.

"Very well." Rose would trust Don. The main reason she came along was that she wanted to learn from Don. It was clear as day that Don was a better hitman than she was. She would sheath her blade and close her eyes to focus. She would tune out all of the noise. She had another seed ability called the sixth sense. This allowed her to detect those using their seed power. She had come to realize that the color of a seed power was related to an element and other things.

Red usually meant Fire and Power.

Blue was usually for Water and Reflexes.

Green was typically for Wind and Rejuvenation.

Brown was normally for Earth and Inner Strength.

Yellow could be for Illusion and Distortion.

White was assumed to be for Time and Spiritual passage.

Black was thought to be for Space and Spiritual Pressure.

Most of the colors were shown in the flare in one's eyes. Other times it could be seen along with other parts of the body, but it was also said that the color is also invisible. In Rose's case, her sixth sense was invisible. As she tuned out everything, she saw the colored flares of those using their seed powers. Red, Blue, and Brown were the main colors; however, there was a single yellow color. She focused on it and saw that his person wasn't releasing anything like the others.

"Found her!" Rose exclaimed while she opened her eyes which went wide. There were several Don's moving around her flaying around. Several projectiles were being knocked down. She didn't need to activate any of her other seed powers to realize that Don had used his. She had seen it clear as day. It was a pure black color. "Wow..." Rose murmured with admiration. She figured his seed power had something to do with his reflexes; however, his seed power was most likely something that had to do with space. Yet, he was moving soo fast.

While Rose was searching for the woman placing their guns on lockdown, Don had used his seed power. Once again, he could feel and hear the flow of his own blood and the beating of his own heart. The projectiles slowed down, and Don moved to intercept them. As more came, Don increased his seed power output and eventually began to leave after-images of himself. This was why Rose saw several Dons when she opened her eyes.

"You found her? Then kill her already." Don would remark, which drew Rose back from her little daydream. "Yes, Sir." Rose would grasp the hilt of her katana. The entire sheath gave off this shimmering black glow. She was activating another seed power of hers. She would once again close her eyes and focus on her target. Once she found her, she would pull the blade with a clean and clear cut before sheathing the blade all in one fluid motion. Although, from an outside perspective, it didn't even look like she drew the blade. "Die." Rose would mutter emotionlessly.

A loud cry came from the one who had locked down their weapons. The yellow aura vanished. "She's taken care of." Rose would remark while opening her eyes to see everyone stopped firing their projectiles for a solid moment. They were confused about how their backline was cut down without Don or Rose being near them. Don would capitalize on this moment of confusion. He would sheath his Tonto and draw out his Silver Desert Eagle. He ran up to one of the Amazoness and placed the barrel to her head. He braced for the power of recoil since he was holding the gun with a single hand. Then, he pulled the trigger.

BOOM!

The gunshot resounded throughout the entirety of Downtown and echoed rather far. The head of the Amazoness pretty much exploded, and the body collapsed forward. The gunshot caught everyone's attention. Don would pull out the Black Desert Eagle and point it at another Amazeoness since he already put away his combat knife.

"ENOUGH!" A loud voice called out from the back. The Amazoness' would begin making a path for a single woman to make her way through the crowd. The woman was barely wearing anything on her torso. She had some kind of mantle or cloak which was barely covering her torso. If the cloak had even slid off her breast, it would pretty much reveal her entire chest. Her bottom was nothing more than a tattered skirt. The woman was barefooted. Her head had a makeshift crown that was made out of plastic and cardboard. She also had facepaint along her face, which matched her black lipstick and eye shadow. She had this proud and prideful strut going for her while she approached Don. Rose had taken up her assault rifle and watched Don's back. She was prepared to gun down everyone in the area. The only reason she didn't begin was that Don hadn't fired a second shot when he had the chance.

"So it is true..." The woman would remark while looking at Don from bottom to top. "It is you." She would add, which caused Don's brow to raise. "Excuse me?" Don would reply with confusion. "You do not remember me?" The woman inquired, and Don shook his head after looking over the woman. "No." He would add in reply.

"I see, pity... Then this may jog your memory." The woman would hike up her tattered skirt in a playful manner as if to tease him or something, although it was so she could remove the combat knife with a sheath. She had it attached to her upper inner thigh. She would offer it to Don, who would look over it for a moment. He felt like he had seen this knife somewhere before. A bit of recollection came to mind before he realized it was his knife. "This is my combat knife. I gave it to that woman..." Don would holster a single Desert Eagle, take the knife, and then look up from it towards the woman. "So that means you are..." The woman would nod before Don could finish his question. "I am. I have been waiting for your return. I wanted to thank you for giving us the choice of freedom." The woman would remark with a proud smile. "I see." Don would sigh heavily and put away his second Desert Eagle. "You are armed to the teeth, far more now than last time I saw you." The woman would comment.

"And you have an army." Don would retort, and the woman would snicker. "But of course. Women need to band together in this world. I see you have a different woman accompanying you. Last it was that older woman and the younger boy. Are they safe?" The woman inquired after taking note of Rose. Don would nod. "They are. We found a safe place." Don would reply. "I see, that is good." The woman would add. She would clear her throat before speaking in a loud authoritative voice.

"This man is not our enemy! He is my savior! He is the one who helped me! He is the one who gave me a choice to be free! So, while he may be a man, he is one that we can trust. The loss of our people is on my shoulders. Do not fault this man or his companion! We were both fighting to protect ourselves!" The woman was clear and firm in her words. Everyone around her seemed to kneel to her out of pure respect. Rose was taken back by this. Don would turn back towards her and told her to put away her gun, and she did just that. "You have made quite a place for yourself; however, I am no savior. You took the choice upon yourself. All I did was offer you a chance at freedom." Don would remark dismissively.

"Nonsense. If you had not come when you did, I doubt we would even be here." The woman would remark, and Don would sigh heavily since it seemed like he wasn't going to get through to her. "Very well. Now, if you will excuse me..." Don was about to continue onward, but the woman moved in front of Don with haste and grace. She pretty much pressured herself against him in doing so. "Wait! Allow me to thank you properly as well as apologize. If I had made it known better who you were, no one would have died today." The woman would express boldly while running a few fingers down his chest and looking up at him. Don would shake his head with respect and take a step back. "There is no need. I am in a hurry. I need to find the last of my friends." Don would remark, which caused the woman's brow to raise. "Last of your friends? Might I ask who it is you are searching for?" The woman inquired with a rose brow. Don didn't see any harm in telling her, and if it allowed him to continue without delay, he would be more than happy to do so.

"My former Boss. His name is Alex. Everyone calls him Boss, though. He's over six feet tall, caucasian, and blonde. The other one is a short stack redhead woman named Jennifer." Don would comment, which caused the woman to nod expectedly. "I see. Then there is no reason for you to continue your journey." The woman would comment, which caused Don to turn his attention towards her. "Why?" He held back his intimidation factor as best as possible because he didn't want to jump to conclusions.

"Relax, my friend. They are among us. We have them resting back at base. At first, we tried to kidnap the man, but the woman beat our people down. Said she would break their necks if they tried to touch him again. So we asked why they were here, and they said they were looking for someone important. A decently tall man who was nicely built had brown hair and brown eyes. Most likely had a nasty glare. The man went by the name Don. We overheard your name when we first met, so when one of our own came to tell me that you were here, I rushed over. I am ashamed that I was a bit too late, though." The woman would explain and express with sorrow.

"I see. So, Jen and Boss were looking for me as well... Then I guess I will go with you." Don would remark with relief. He would make his way over to his bike and push up the kickstand so he could drag it with them. "Let's go, Rose." Don would remark towards her. She had gone silent the entire time since she didn't really know what to do. Finally, she would nod to Don and gather her own bike. The woman would lead them both back towards the shopping market that Don had visited during his first few days here.

As they arrived, Don noticed several more piked heads that were of men. The blockade was reinforced, and there was now barbwire all over the blockade. A few guards were posted outside the gate who would salute the woman as they walked by them. The other women seemed to have gone back to do their own thing. Don could easily guess that all of Downtown was taken over by this group since these women most likely occupied the buildings.

Upon entering through the gates, Don noticed Amazoness' filled the empty parking lot with various spars here and there. Training with real weapons and offensive seed powers of various elements. "As you can see, we are training our forces. We know full well what is out there. Men are not our only enemy. A group known as the World Government is also considered a threat. So we want to be fully prepared for when the time comes." The woman would remark.

"I see..." Don would mutter.

'This? Your people couldn't even handle us, and you think this will save you against the World Government...' Rose would remark internally.

Don could see the expression on her face and knew what she was thinking. He had to agree with her. These people would only be able to defend against normal attackers. Against the World Government, they would be slaughtered. Regardless, Don did not speak a word of his own thoughts either. The woman noticed his expression, as well as Rose's, but did not speak a word.

"Don!" A voice called his name. It was familiar and seductive. Don turned to see who it was. At this time, Don had been tackled by a short-stacked woman who latched her legs around his waist and stuffed her breast into his face while holding his head tightly. Rose's brow went up when she saw this. 'Yet another woman?' Rose inquired internally. Don would mutter something along the lines of "Get the fuck off me!" However, it came out muffled.

A resounding chuckle came from another familiar voice. "Boss?" Don's muffled voice came forth once again.

"Glad to see you are alive and well, Don." The Boss would comment with a smile as he approached them.

"Then..." Don was finally able to see who the hell had latched onto him like a damn leech since the one let him go. "Hiya Don~."

It was Jennifer.

"Jen." Don would smile warmly. "Glad to see you both are well." Don would comment as he looked towards Boss. "Of course. We had our troubles this past month, but that nice woman over there took us in." Boss would motion towards the woman, who nodded politely. "Only because you are a friend of our savior." The woman would remark. "I understand." Boss would comment. "Speaking of which... I wanna know what all of that is about." Jen would comment while grinning wide at Don. Don sighed exhaustively. He could tell this was going to be a long day. "Fine, but can you get off..." Don would remark, and Jen would pout for a moment before hopping off of Don. Don stepped back once from the force like he did when Jen latched onto him, but that was all. He did not fall.

"Yes, I wish to know what you have been up to as well." The woman would comment towards Don. "So come along. I will prepare a feast for everyone. To celebrate your return and to mourn our dead." The woman would add. Don would nod to her, then look back towards Rose. "Let's go. I need to introduce you as well." Rose would look up at Don. She had still been silent as ever. She didn't know what to do or how to act in these situations. She had accompanied the General several times, so she knew that she was supposed to be silent and just watch over him; however, Don wasn't the General. In addition to that, the vibe she got from Don was different compared to that she got from the General. Both of them were men, and both were powerful and strong, but.... she felt like she could trust Don. Maybe it was because she knew he was a hitman? Maybe because there was a connection? Regardless, she felt a warmth in her chest and followed after him with a soft nod.

Jen would begin to pester Don about Rose and who she was while they followed the woman. Boss would talk with the woman over something about the base as well as other things. Don could see that were was more going on between Boss and the woman than what was led on. Don would stave off any of Jen's questions for the moment or at least until they could relax. Once they were given the opportunity, he would tell everyone what he had been up to. From the day he arrived till the present day, he meant this woman, what he did, and how he became her 'savior.' He even spoke of his group, friends, and how he met all of them. In return, they shared their adventures when they arrived and found it unreal at first. Boss had gone to check up on Jen, and Jen was in the middle of smashing an undead's face in her foot when he arrived. After that, they decided to look around, and that was when they realized they weren't on Earth anymore. Following up with the boy and then, they had the same idea of finding Don to see if he was there, but they needed supplies and weapons before they could go anywhere. When they set out, they went through Downtown and encountered the Amazoness Encampment. From there, Jen had to beat her way through since they wanted to kidnap Boss, but when it became a bit too much for their people, they asked what Jen and Boss were after, and after they realized Jen and Boss were Don's friends, they took them in and told them that Don would return eventually so they should rest there. Apparently, Boss helped with keeping their defensives up and designed their training regimen. Jen decided to help train the Amazoness since she felt a connection with them and what they stood for.

This conversation and catching up would take the entire day to go through, and by the time they finished, it was already nightfall. As the woman said, a large feast was prepared, and they were all invited to join.
